Jim Harbaugh could have asked the two guys to transfer. Sit them out of games if they do not transfer. Coaches have sat players out for way more minor infringements and have asked players to transfer for not being a ball player. Rape or not, these players have put themselves in a bad situation.
I don't think 1-loss Michigan is getting in over 1-loss Big12/Pac12/ACC champ or 1-loss Tennessee or Georgia. This is the year we should have scheduled Notre Dame! Unless there are upsets in all the major conferences, we better beat Ohio.

In Belein we trust is a good motto to have. I think the floor for next year’s team is quite high even if we lose Iggy and Poole. We have Simpson, Teske and Livers. One or two of the freshmen will develop into a good rotation player. While I love Zavier Simpson, I think our upside will be capped with him as our primary offensive weapon. We need a Stauskas/Burke/Levert who can score when the offense starts to stall. It is strange for a Beilein offense does not have a single dead eye shooter.
I agree with scrapping conference games and getting rid of divisions. Have a tie-breaker within the conference. Play 8 o 9 games. We replace the conference games with Conference Battle (like the Big Ten ACC annual games at the end of the season). This is kind of a preview to the playoff. We can keep the playoff to 4 teams.
Michigan's last regular season loss came at Northwestern. It is a good win. I think this Northwestern team makes the NCAA tournament. Lost at Indiana by 2 points.
Rather than having a conference champion week, I would rather expand the playoffs to 8 teams. Make sure the champion of each conference are represented.
This is Mark Titus trying to jinx us. I think by the end of the season, the lack of shooting (not something we can easily improve upon) will be our Achilles' heels when we play in the NCAA tournament. By the way, Vegas has Michigan as the 8th best odds to win the NCAA tournament (behind Duke, UNC, Kansas and even Nevada). Sure we can catch lightning in a bottle. Sure Beilein is a fantastic coach. According kenpom, the best defense in Big East are Villanova, St John’s, Providence and Butler. Villanova lost once to all these 3 teams. If we continue to play great defense, we have a good chance.
We got lucky when Penn St center went down with injury. Michigan has a lot of problem against teams that play a smaller and quicker lineups (like Nebraska). It seems that our offense stalls when the opponents can switch man-to-man and stay in front of Moe Wagner.
I don't think being outsized at the four is the cause for the disappointing result this year. It is the inability to stop penetration that is the issue. Indiana starts a 6'7" at the four and they are fine. We have a bigger Kam Chatman but JB doesnt trust his shooting. Glen Robinson was undersized at the 4 but was a fine player for us. It is not about size but the overall player's quality and chemistry with each other.
Everytime I watched 2016 UM Basketball team, I am always reminded of Rich Rod's Football teams. When they play weak teams, the offense is just so breathtaking and we can blow out opponents easily. When we play against BiG10 mediocre team, it always require a great offense to bail out a weak defense. When we play against elite teams, our offense always sputter and we get blown out.
We are over by 3 scholarship. But we need to account for Dytarious Johnson who has yet to qualify academically. We also need to set aside scholarship for Glasgow and Allen who are walk-on but deserving of scholarship.
Don't like this one one it. Pulling a scholarship offer so close to signing day! Makes me appreciate John Beilein even more. JB may not bring a national championship trophy but he goes about winning in a right way.
Dont like it one bit when the press are touting us to be better than Sparty and Ohio. This usually mean trouble and underachiving team. Lots of pressure on the team. Did they forget we almost lost to Minnesota and got killed by Ohio? One comforting note, at least Vegas also agrees with the press.
I am still not a buyer of this team until they show that they can defend. Against Bryant, one of the worst offensive team in the nation, they are allowing 0.95 point per possession. They can't rebound, protect the rim and stop penetration. Unless they improve defensively, their ceiling will be a first round ncaa tourney team.

The only negative about this news is that it killed my dream that Austin Hatch will shoot the game winning 3-point shot for UM in the NCAA Championship when he is a senior and fully regained his strength. Part of me wished that JB will continue to keep him on the roster for a flicker of hope that Austin Hatch might just play a role in the basketball court and perhaps even made the NBA. Well, may be Austin Hatch can become our basketball coach in 2030!
I believe that if JB is given the annual talent that Kentucky, Kansas, UNC and Duke gets, we would be an annual Final Four contender. If he continues to recruit under radar talents, we wd be a Final Four threat once every 4 yrs when those kids develop...
Trust in JB? I think while everyone is aware that JB has a keen eye for talent, we must not forget that the Team that made the Finals was not possible without GR3 and Mcgary both of whom are borderline 5 star talent. While I do not have evidence to the contrary, I don't buy this one bit. Every great sportsman has a great drive towards excellence. It is up to the coach to motivate so that each player performs up to the maximum regardless of emotional commitment. I do think that at some point, there is such a thing as spreading your resources too thin if you want to recruit nationally. With that much more recruits to evaluate, you tend to focus on athleticism/skills over intangables (such as great work ethics, desire and character). This is where the team can lose out in the long run because we know great work ethics trumps talents most of the time.
Is there any NCAA rule that prevents him from doing that? UM will just pay his father USD 300,000 more in his contract! Wouldnt that be the smart thing to do?
