Then there's this egregious violation...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6du8UQZJAhI

Also responsible for...

causing the blackout of 2003.

Off the field, he's been doing things fine

The proof will be in the pudding come Western Michigan.

Congrats!

Best of luck to you!

I also

I also went to Merriman, was there till the 6th grade when we moved out.

THE KNOWLEDGE

Is on the plane going to Baton Rouge.

Was Krist

Was Krist Novoselic also hanging out w/them?

That's the problem

Lloyd retired a few years back. He will always be apart of the Michigan family. The problem is that he's not running the Athletic Department. Obviously he's in DB's ear giving him advice, but I would hope that the sole reason for hiring the coach isn't because he would/wouldn't have Carr's overt backing.

Does this mean that being a 'Michigan Man' is the only way to be accepted as the head coach? I would think that's why some of these potential non 'Michigan Man' candidates are looking at this job and then running away from it once their name is brought up.

I would agree

+1 to you.

You took the words

You took the words right out of my mouth with the Gittleson and Pizza comment.

B List?

Hardly. You've got to be kidding yourself. And who was more proven at the time that Martin was willing to hire?

B List recruits? I guess Denard / Roundtree / Martin were B list recruits...right.

You've been on the agenda of change for quite sometime now, so I guess your comments don't surprise me. But B List, I think not.

Oh by the way, if i'm reading the quote in the bottom of your signature, I would assume you are 'Noise'....

Amen

That is all

Just a different way..

As for removing a guy after he makes a bowl. Well, remember that this is Michigan. You know "Leaders and Best".  Leaders and Best typically don't satisfy themselves with just barely making a third tier bowl in year three at a school with every resource needed to field a national title contending program.

Its just a different way of saying "We're Michigan, this is unacceptable".

You can coach players to be fundamentally sound.

Don't you think this would have been easier if we had Dorsey, and a couple other DB's still here? If we had a defensive backfield, it makes it a lot easier for your front 7 doesn't it?

Moved into new house today

Luckily the cable was setup and the game was on the entire afternoon. Best housewarming present ever!!!

Thanks

Thanks to both of you guys for your perpective.

A question for the lawyers on this board

Now that the investigation has concluded and what Rosenberg/Snyder found is pretty much BS, could the University sue the Free Press for Libel and/or Slander? I know these suits rarely rule in favor of the plaintiff, but do you think it would be a case worth pursuing?

The answer you were looking for was...

Brad Johnson

While you make some good points

1. You fail to mention his lack of game management.

2. He won the NC with mostly Saban recruits

+1 to you sir

I agree with profitgoblue here. How do you think someone is going to come in with a magic wand and fix everything? St. Harbaugh is not the answer to your prayers.

I'm just curious

How many recruits do we really have in common with Stanford right now?

I must say...

Not too bad. If you could come up with some English football game like chants for during the games, you might have something here.

I will be watching

On my new flat screen TV / surround system in my family room. Will have plenty of food and drink on hand, and I will enjoy every minute of it!

Wow...

+1 to you sir

To Big Redacted

Brandon

He was at the game, I wonder what was running through his mind?

I think Capt. Comeback

takes the $$$$ and goes to the NFL.

Gus Malzahn anyone?

If Auburn win the NC, it would make for an interesting hire. The offense wouldn't have to change.

I'm going to guess doubtful

I'm sure D'Antonio and co. will do everything in their power to keep him green. I'm sure this guy is being advised by the same coaches (even though they're fired) to stay with his decision.

That and..

if they can take their tempo up another notch, that would be another advantage. In watching Oregon, they definitely move quicker during their  drives.

This is...

a terrible idea. Now Oregon vs. BSU i'd be up for. We could potentially see a 50 points + being scored for both sides. THAT would be exciting to watch.

Another Gus Johnsonism...

PUUUUUURE!!!!!

LOL +1

at your Jerry Lawler reference. You really can't take a former Detroit Lions QB seriously anyways.

This guy looks like

Some cross between Brian Urlacher and Ray Lewis, absolutely ridiculous! The D is definitely getting an upgrade here.

That throw..

Was so damn ugly...

Not again...

Are you kidding me?

Touchdown NW

Persa looking good.

I was expecting...

An Alain Kashama reference, darn!

I have a co-worker who qualifies as a 'Hater'

I have someone who I work with who definitely is in the Hater category. He was at the Iowa game on Saturday (wanted me to go with him, but I had to take care of my 5 wk. old son while the Mrs. went out..but I digress).

Here were his statements to me following the game:

1. Rich Rod should be fired, and Jim Harbaugh should be brought in.

2. He has turned Michigan football from an elite program into Northwestern. He destroyed the program and chased away Ryan Mallet.

3. The defense is terrible (one true statement) and he can't recruit to save his life.

4. Even with the Tate comeback, they had no chance of winning the game at all.

5. The RBs are terrible

6. Denard is not durable.

7. He says that 8 wins this year is not a good season in his mind.

I responded to him that he was full of it regarding statements 1, 2, 4, 5 and 7. 3 and 6 are partly true.

He tells me that I'm in the Rich Rod fan club and I should stop defending him. When I explain about all the defensive injuries with the young players and people leaving, he said that it is irrelevant!? I then tried to explain to him that this is his second full year and he needs another year and he used the word 'Unacceptable'.

He then give me a revisionist history of UM's record vs. Iowa and says that we only lost to them 1 time in 10 years before RR lost 2 years in a row to them? I explained that they committed a lot of penalties and committed 4 turnovers and he still expected them to win the game? I asked him if he was watching the same game that I did?

He then spouts off about MSU and that they really aren't a good team and we shouldn't have lost to them. Explained that they are packed with seniors and have a real easy schedule and beat UW who beat OSU. At this point, I stopped trying to argue with him and told him he was full of s__t and he needs to go find some facts before he spews crap out of his mouth.

This is what I have to deal with and it ruins my day when I have to deal with people who have no clue about what's going on.

DId you read the post above?

He has a great record against one team, big freaking deal. Did you see what happened to St. D'Antonio last year? Did you watch the meltdown against Texas Tech (days after Leach got fired)? Has he won any bowl games during his tenure? NO. So what makes him so great? He has the easiest schedule with a roster full of seniors, get over yourself.

I think what he's trying to say

Is that maybe they were being given too much credit going into this week. They won't get that same respect going through the rest of the season, this team has done better when they don't get the respect. I believe this to be true and I think his theory actually makes some sense.

Surprisingly..I have a couple

Magic, Kirk Gibson, Steve Smith and...

Greg Kelser (does a good job as color guy for the Pistons and occasionally during the NCAA tourney).

That Offense

That offense looked great with Harrell and Crabtree.

Ok. State

Runs a spread offense similar to ours?

Where's Rosenberg?

Shouldn't he be down there right now uncovering these injustices?

Valenti and co.

Why do you waste your time listening to him again? My dial never goes onto that station when he or his other Spartan slappy Caputo are on. Doug K. is the only objective person on that station. Everyone else spits Sparty logic because they don't know any better.

Looking a bit too far ahead?

I'd like to get past this weekend first. But to answer your question, I would think that many losses would eliminate you from consideration. The field may not be as strong as in other years, but I think that you can't have that many losses and still be the best player in the NCAA. Just my 2 cents.

I completely forgot about this clip

Excellent work.

Wow...

Wow...just wow...

LOL

Thanks for that little piece of comedy.

Then there's this...

State should just be happy that .500 teams get to go to bowls in this era.

They can go to bowls, but forget about winning one. Haven't done that since 2001... Last bowl game win was against Fresno State on Dec. 31st 2001. So it is 8 years and close to 9 months and counting...

Defense needs a bit of work...However

I think that this game was a good basis on which to start the season. The front 7 looked pretty good, especially RVB, Martin and Roh. Mouton and Obi really surprised me, let's hope they can keep it up. JT Floyd needed to step up and he did. I think the rest of the DB's will get better with more experience and seasoning. That will come next week at ND.

For now, I'm enjoying this win. Just polished off a burger from Five Guys to celebrate.

GO BLUE!
