I recently talked to a die-hard UF fan who told me that we better get ready to hate Urban because he would "own us". I went ahead and told him that I already hate him and then reminded him that Urban is 0-1 against UM.

It took long enough. I was starting to think that this staff would never get anyone to commit for 2014. You really have to wonder if this staff knows what they're doing. Nearly half way through the 2013 class and they're just now now starting to focus in 2014. I mean REALLY.

It is very possible that we have some attrition this year once the season gets rolling. Please don't take this the wrong way, that is not what I am hoping for, but I wouldn't be surprised if someone buried on the depth chart opted to transfer for more play time.

I live in Arkansas and I have had about all I can take of the whole "SEC is the best" BS. Living only about 45 minutes from Fayetteville I was not surprised to hear people saying that he should only receive a suspension or fine but not be fired. Those comments really came as no surprise to me (SEC and all), but I talked to one individual who made the comment "I don't care who he f%^&s as long as he wins." When confronted with the fact that Saint Petrino lied to his boss about having an innappropriate relationship with a fellow staff member his reply was "He is paid to win football games, other than that I don't care". Rumor on the streets here is that the boosters are already pleading with Long to keep him on. They deserve everything that they get if they keep him.

Agreed. Pharoah Brown took a visit last year after committing and it cost him his offer. When T Rich wanted to take some of his officials after committing he was told that he would lose his offer. Hoke seemed to have a no tolerance policy toward visits after a committment. If he were to spend money to bring in other kids it would appear to them that he was not sold on them. That needs to be a two way street and Hoke is a smart enough guy to know that.

Yes BSU beat up on UGA but keep in mind that BSU has esscentially one game to get hyped up for. They have all spring and summer to gameplan for that one game. Same thing last year when they beat VT. Put them in a real confrence and they are a 4 or 5 loss team. Want proof of that? Utah (who has been in about the same boat as BSU) is now 7-5 and just lost at home to Colorado YES I said Colorado. The same Colorado team that had lost 23 road games in a row. UGA on the other hand had another ranked team to play the very next week. Care to guess how many other teams BSU played that had a little number beside their name? 0.

Let there be no doubt that we get their best game tomorrow. they are 6 and 5 and won't get a better bowl than the little skeezer bowl unless they win. I thought that Mizzou put in an app to join the SEC a month or two ago and got turned down. Same thing with WVU IIRC. Obviously they have to get some one to join to get the count to 14. Not sure who it will be but I think they already know who and they are waiting for the right time to announce. If I had to guess I would say someone on the east coast so the division line does not have to move. That way they can protect all of the rivalries as they are right now.

for the last 2 weeks I have not been sure that we would cover the spread, 10 against SDSU and 20 against Minny. This time I have to think that we will cover the spread. I don't see anyway PSU beats Iowa. The Huskers should cover the spread but there is no telling how much of a difference the Tat4 will make, too many uncertainities. Ill should cover the spread but I thought the same thing about them with WMU.

I agree that, that number will change and we will not finish the season at #4 just like we will not be #2 for points against. But Mattison has definitely shown the ability to adapt and adjust. I would call that progress.

If the ACC takes 4 teams from the Big East I don't think there will be a Big East for Kansas to go to. I personally would like to see the B1G pick up TCU, on the condition that their academics are high enough. If UT, OU, OSU, and TT leave then I would like to see us pick up Kansas and K state as the J-Hawks bring in good round ball. All of that being said if there is no need in adding teams I say why do it. Lets' not be the confrence that adds just to add.

Indiana. Probably won't compete for to play in the championship game but I think they could surprise some people.

The whole reason that aTm wants out is because of UT acting the way that they do. Same with MO. The B12 had to bow down and kiss Longhorn butt to get them to stay and the only reason they did was out of greed, (understandable I know), Their arrogance will very soon bring the B12 down to nothing. If aTm does leave I look for a mass exodus to come very soon after it.

I do not know all of the details in the GT case but what I do know is that 1 player received just over $300 and the NCAA hammered them. To my knowledge (and again I don't know all of the facts so if I am wrong please let me know)  there were no other players that were wrapped up in this and the HC did not know. They handed out this punishment knowing that the case with tsio was coming up. My thinking is that they cannot hammer GT without also hammering more severely the school with more severe violations. I also heard from very unofficial sources that USC has plans to sue the NCAA if tsio does not get at least the same punishment that they did. Not sure if there is anything to that but it does make sense.

I have to go with Mike Martin. I can't wait to see what this new staff can teach him.

I do believe that it was ESPN that has him at #3 FB in the nation. To my knowledge they did not have him ranked prior to him UM commitment.

If that be the case and they really turned away a 5 star recruit becase a 4 star already has it then I cannot say anything but "integrity, class and character". I would hate to see how quickly one of these teams from the south would spit on a 4 star to get a 5 star. I can't wait until the only people in the world that don't love Hoke are the teams we play against.

not sure about Tennessee but I live in Ft. Smith and we get about the same weather that they do and it has been unbelievably hot here. Every day in June the high temp was above 90 (first time in recorded history that has ever happened) and save one day in July the high temp has been into the 100s. They said that the average high for the month of July is 104 for this year (the hottest ever recorded). Heat indexes up around 111 -115. Yeah pretty miserable, I can't imagine doing one a days let alone 2 a days. On my days off I hide in the house with the blinds shut and wait for nightfall to go outside. My hat is off to Blake.

MM could definitely raise his stock this year and get picked early to mid first round and nothing would make me happier for him. I will be broken hearted to see him go, but that is just part of the game. I am so stoked to see what he can do with a coaching staff that focuses on the line.

with all the help that we needed last year in the secondary, I would have to think that there is no way someone transfers from D to O. That being said you never know.

an interesting topic but probably unable to really ever know. In the 2008 class RR mainly had to do nothing more than secure the existing commits that Carr had locked up. In 09, in spite a dreadful year on the field the world saw a world of possibilities and there was a surge of commits that got that class to be a top ten class. After that all of the troubles started like NCAA investigations and being utterly abysmal on the field again. By 2010 the talks of RR being fired had already spread through the nation, and it was hard to get anyone to look past the fact that the guy on the phone may not be the guy they see on the field.

Hoke has undoubtedly had some extreme success on the recruiting trail thus far (12 kids for the 2011 class and 16 from this class) (not to mention 2 already for 2013) That's 30 kids in roughly 6 months. The guy can obviously connect with kids and parents alike. Obviously each coach is going to have their own philosophy, but I would say if Hoke has 3 really bad years then we could compare the two. Now with that being said in 3 years if Hoke has had a repeat of RR success or lack there of, I will be the guy you find hanging by my throat with my feet swinging. WIth all that I am and all that I have I hope that we are talking about how great it is to be on top of the B1G where we belong instead of how RR struggled to get kids to commit to an uncertain future.

actually, from what I remember reading about Kalis,  it is the latter. The guy grew up a Buck fan and always wanted to go there. There was never any question about where he wanted to go until the thought of severw sanctions and a coach search/debacle.

 I run a printing press that prints beer cartons for companies like Miller and Budweiser. Every year we make a large sum of money  printing several different  NFL team cartons. This morning I learned that due to the lockout the beverage companies may not be ordering these millions of dollars worth of cartons. Obviously you can't blame the beverage companies  but stuff like this does really upset me that  the NFL's minimum salary of $350,000 per year is just not enough. Not saying they haven't earned it but for crying out loud shut up and get out there and play some football or step aside and I'll do it for half that.

If they have any real sense at all they will do a clean sweep and remove anyone in the program that had any knowledge of wrong-doing. That would at least show the NCAA that they are doing what they have to do to right the ship. Notice if you will I said "if they have any real sense".

I don't think a show cause wll be the only thing keeping him from ever coaching again.

I heard Mussburger saying how Tress just wanted to protect his kids from getting into trouble. Made him sound like the martyr. Did not however mention lying when he knew he was busted. nor any of the other things like autographing memobrilia for the tat-gaters.

I know that every kid in Michigan grew up wanting to go to UM until RR got there. Year one, instate recruiting was still relatively easy but then year 2 we started losing a lot of these kids to Sparty. I think that tO$U may have a harder time recruiting their instate guys to an embattled school than they think. Keep in mind that,assuming the sanctions are in place by the end of the season they will probably have a very hard time getting a top coach to move there. If I had to to look into my crystal ball I would say that guys like Meyer do their best to not laugh at the AD when they come calling. Your mid-level coaches would probably ask for huge money to leave a comfortable program to take on a job with that kind of pressure and your mid-level coaches won't be worth the big bucks, your low-level guys are going to be the ones that would be dumb enough to take the job. I will not be surprised to see Fickell get the job at the end of the year. That should stabilize the class a little bit and help with the instate guys. They will probably stuggle to get very many kids to move from places like FL and TX .
