the just released schedules were a flat-out statement that the B10 doesn't believe SOS will matter in playoff selection

| 2 years 8 weeks ago | Try the podcasts |
I live in NYC now and listen to the WTKA podcasts which are really great as you can basically just listen to recruiting roundup if you want to. WTKA's site has been linked a whole shit ton on the site so I wont re-paste it, just google it. |

I was actually wondering how the OSU student newspaper would come out on this, I think it shows a lot of journalistic integrity calling for more serious penalties. Those students should be commended. (FWIW, I would hope that the Daily would have the same standards if we were in a similar situation, e.g. if MSC DBrandon decided not to punish the program a year ago...)

| 2 years 10 weeks ago | This informant is going to get disbarred |
ABA Model Rules 1.6 (and whatever the Ohio equivalent is, I think it is §1.6:400) create the attorney-client privilege. By emailing Tressell (not an attorney or an empoyee of an attorney involved in the representation or potential representation) the attorney-informant violated his professional responsibilities and is subject, and most likely, will face sanctions up to and including disbarrment. I know that this part of the scandal will get lost on a lot of people but, it is an incredibly serious violation.
Edit: Got beaten to the punch a little, sorry. |
| 2 years 10 weeks ago | Coach-player confidentiality? |
I dont remember learning about that one in school...? |
| 2 years 10 weeks ago | Where is the Big Ten on this? |
The original Pearl suspension was handed down by the SEC (shocking, I know). Where is the Big Ten? He needs to be suspended for some Big Ten games... this is ridiculous. |
| 2 years 10 weeks ago | Akron and Toledo |
So he misses Akron and Toledo? Lovely. I like that OSU is the most penalized program in D1-A over the past 10 years and every single time the punishments are so minor... Failure to promote atmosphere of compliance anyone? |
| 2 years 10 weeks ago | Why is everyone naming the all geriatric team |
Look, i love the woodsons and Bradys as much as the next guy but everyone is throwing out the all NFL team circa 2005... I mean Urlacher? Dude is like 40. (how long will it take someone to google Urlacher and correct me for not stating his exact age?) IMO the player i would pick is Matthews, maybe Polamalu or Ed Reed. |
| 2 years 11 weeks ago | Recognizing C-Web |
No matter how you feel about C-Web, nothing can happen until Jan 2013 (See Dave Brandon's Comments at http://www.annarbor.com/sports/um-basketball/in-bringing-back-jimmy-king... ). At this point, if C-Web reaches out to the University (a nice little donation to Mott wouldnt hurt) then I think the Athletic Dept. should welcome the man back. Yes, he screwed up, royally. However, our MBB Program has been fairly pathetic for the past 15 years and, in my opinion, we need to get this guy back into the fold so he can help on the recruiting trail a little bit. I am sick and tired of constantly losing basketball recruiting battles to Sparty and that school down south. Go blue! Beat State tomorrow!!!

| 2 years 11 weeks ago | Time for a commit |
Obvs it wont be Richardson but... Its time for a commit already. Weve given out close to 100 offers and it would be nice to get things rolling a little bit. I know it is incredibly early but I just want one! Even TomVh saying there is a silent commit or Sam Webb having a gut feeling about a guy! PLEASE!!! Wormley, RJS, Goddin, someone, anyone, just make it happen already! |
| 2 years 11 weeks ago | How wins look |
After watching this I am less worried about how the win looks than I am that MSU is gonna be PISSSSEEEDDD when they play us. |
| 2 years 12 weeks ago | The changing timeframe of committing |
I agree that he will wait a little but I think it has less to do with how the D plays and more RJS wanting to soak up the spotlight a little more. It seems like with each year, recruiting becomes crazier and crazier. Think about it, we had one recruit who basically had his whole segment live on ESPN (and it wasnt even NSD) and another recruit publicaly announce he was going to one school and then just not send in his LOI and go elsewhere. Now does that mean that RJS, Richardson, Ross, Wormley etc., are going to wait just to soak up recruiting attention? No, not necessarily, but I do think that more recruits are going to wait longer, or only give soft verbals (i.e. go on other visits and take other calls... think Dee Hart (too soon? I'm sorry)) so that they can maximize their offer numbers and the media attention they get. I hope that I am wrong in the case of RJS, I just wouldnt hold my breath waiting for the kid to commit. Go Blue! |
| 2 years 13 weeks ago | FOR TOMVH! |
Any chance a guy like Efe Scott-Emuakpor gets an offer? I know hes offer-less at the moment but he's Rivals 250 watch list (I believe) and hell, the dude is 6 foot 5 inches. I would love a big guy like that who could hopefully turn into a real red zone threat, especially after Conway has been diverted to the JUCO ranks.

| 2 years 13 weeks ago | Way too early to tell... |
Pump the breaks hombre, WAAAAYYY too early to make any predictions... we havent even seen any of spring ball yet. This is a dumb prediction. Wait and see how Denard and Devin do in the Borges ball. How do our running backs look, can anyone emerge as the "go to guy" like in Michigan days of yore. Do the taller receivers like Stonum start to dominate in the more Pro-style offense? How does the D mature? Any LBs step it up to help Demens? Does the defensive backfield mature? Is T-wolf a beast again? Just pump the breaks, wait at least until June to start looking at predictions.

| 2 years 13 weeks ago | Good luck Demar |
I really hope that Demar gets his stuff together, earns his AA degree and decides to transfer to UM. I would hope that if he can spend two years in Grand Rapids, stay clean, get good grades etc, the media and this blog will be a little more forgiving of the kid if he decides to try and come over to UM, or any other D1 school for that matter. |
| 2 years 13 weeks ago | Others |
He has MSU and Iowa offers and according to rivals lists interest in Auburn. |
| 2 years 13 weeks ago | More than 3-2 IMO |
IMO its going to take us more than 3-2 to go dancing... Maybe 3-2 with a deep run in the Big Ten Tourny does the trick but Id be much more comfortable with a 4-1 finish and a win or two in the Big Ten Tourny to get us to the ball. |
| 2 years 13 weeks ago | Not a good win at all |
That was not a good win at all... Indiana finished the game on something like a 25-5 run... that is completely unacceptable. Its not like we had our B-squad out there either. It was our complete lack of discipline on D and utter inability to hit a free throw that doomed us. Part of me wishes we didnt win because frankly, we really didnt deserve the W. I know this team is young but this was a disaster and I am fuming at how weve been playing at the end of games during the past two weeks. |

My condolences. |
| 2 years 14 weeks ago | No chance... |
His older sister is a freshman swimmer at UT-Austin... no chance he goes anywhere else. This is a big assumption but... the kid seems super close to his family, he posted all of their names on his highlight video (along with his gpa of 3.85). Id say goodbye and goodluck to Mr. Brewer. Here comes Gunner!!!! |

"New" uniforms again? |
| 2 years 14 weeks ago | Love this kid |
Wow, I love this kid. The combo of Academics, wanting to be a Dr. and his speed and 6-4 frame make this kid a must get. He is the type of person that should be playing for Michigan.
Thanks for all of the info BlueMiles, great post. |
| 2 years 14 weeks ago | Shocked |
I am just shocked that multiple complaining witnesses isnt enough to even seek an indictment. I am not saying that this is specific to OSU, because it is not, but big time athletes all too frequently are given the opportunity to skate when Joe-Schmo would find himself in jail or doing community service faster than it takes a Sparty alum to get paid for the pizza after he is done with the delivery.

| 2 years 14 weeks ago | Thank you Michigania |
I think you put it very aptly and in a way I was not able to do. |
| 2 years 14 weeks ago | I hear this argument, I just dont buy it |
I hear this argument and get this general excitement about the trio of legacy's connections. I just dont think that this necessarily translates into wins. Can Horford and G. Rob Jr (when he gets on campus) turn into great players? Possibly, I still maintain we are a long way off.

| 2 years 14 weeks ago | To be honest, im more mixed on Beilin |
I am still on the fence about JB. I appreciate that he got us to the tourny but IMO his recruiting has been underwhelming and at this rate, we are not any closer to establishing ourselves as a perennial power in the Big Ten. Yes, this team is fun to watch and yes, I know we just missed on guys like Zeigler but I feel like this has happened a few times. To be honest, I am getting a little impatient with our MBB team and I think that with the new facilities coming online, we should demand and expect more success from our program going forward.

| 2 years 15 weeks ago | He seems like a high energy guy |
There is a video on fightillini.com showing him running through some drills (go towards the end of the video and watch him run the "screen drill"). He seems like an intelligent high energy guy to go along with that great experience as a UM player (1990 Rose Bowl). Here's the video. http://www.fightingillini.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/mallory_curt00.html

| 2 years 15 weeks ago | Or the recruits are just that much better.... |
Look around at NFL rosters... the majority of the talent is coming from California, Texas and the South. Sure the Midwest and Penn and NJ have their fair share of players in the league, but overwhelming percentage hails from the South and west. This article is a little bit old but it definately shows as much. http://rivals100.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=259347 Now, the reason why this is so is an entirely different debate. For certain, the weather plays a huge factor as does a whole other milieu of reasons.
EDIT: Please dont take this as me saying the recruiting sites valuations are good or not biased. I am definately not saying that; I am simply saying that there has been a shift towards production from these states away from the Midwest and Plains states. |
| 2 years 15 weeks ago | No way... |
Dude, I am happy for Bellomy but the guys is really a career backup, maybe one year starting as a RS Sr or something like that. DG is sick and will lead our program to greatness (that is assuming that Denard doesnt do so before him...so DG will be continuing our run of greatness).
GO BLUE!!! Everyone get pumped for a strong recruiting class. I have a feeling like there are a few sleepers in this class that will make us happy for 4-5 years to come. |
| 2 years 15 weeks ago | It already is a joke |
I think the whole things is a joke. These are 17 and 18 year old kids. How many of the top 50 flame out every year? It is a joke. Look at guys like Ben Rothlesberger (not highly recruited) or even Alex Smith, who had 2 scholly offers and one of them only happened because of who is uncle was. Sites like Scouts, Rivals and ESPN are fun to watch but lets be honest, there is no way to evaluate a recruiting class until 3-4 years from now.
