This is basically a casting call/audition. Cheerleaders are entertainers. This kind of instruction appears in ads or call sheets for models and actors all the time.
Also, the argument about objectifying women...aren't we in many ways objectifying men by watching football???
For competitive purposes, it's ridiculous. For the kids, the opportunity for more practices is great and some of them may get the most national exposure of their careers. Adds more fuel to the fire of athletes generating revenue for their schools.

I was at a fourth tier breastaurant here in FL called Mugs 'N' Jugs, enjoying a footlong hot dog, when I saw the news come up on ESPN. As I started watching Michigan football during the days of Greg McMurtry, Bo was seated into my mind as what Michigan football was and what all college coaches should be.
That evening, I was wearing a Michigan sweatshirt at an outdoor art installation when an older guy walked up with an OSU sweatshirt and acknowledged Bo's passing. I really feel like Michigan football died for me, in a way, that day, and has been resurrected with HARBAUGH.
Kudos to people who like to post "that's game" or "game over" when there are more minutes left than the points the team trails by. Who are you actually talking to?
Being down 20-19 is a minor miracle. I hate not playing guys with 2 fouls. It's like not using the backup catcher in baseball as a pinch hitter. The benefit almost always outweighs the risk. What's the worst, the guy fouls out and you have to play walk ons for significant minutes? Umm...
Evidently God told ND Harbaugh so they canceled series in anticipation. Too bad. I'd love to see Jimmy wipe the smug look off Brian Kelly's face. Literally. With the blood of one of his players. HARBAUGH!
I feel like replay reviews are nothing more than a coin flip the last few years. I was literally yelling at Mark Jones "because you're an idiot" after he said he couldn't see the knee on the first replay.
I mostly practice in the sports and entertainment law arena (got a chance last year to spend the season with the Lightning, and it was fantastic seeing Stevie Y at the staff meetings), so I probably hit the self-importance button too hard in my reply. And I seem to have done it again in this one. Oops.
Got a block M keychain. I wonder if it will draw as many comments down here as the Michigan wallet I got several years ago. At least the post office clerk who wears a Michigan lanyard will say something.
