"Tom, you are fit at Michigan because you're just like Jim Thorpe, except faster."
|1 week 6 days ago||I thought about this...||
...as I watched the Championship game last night. I just don't know. OSU's Meyer by many accounts appears to have a rather unscrupulous "SEC-Style" recruiting manner, which Michigan clearly would not. As such, the talent disparity will remain a concern (IMHO), and now blue-chip recruits (especially those looking for a quick springboard to the next level) will tend to gravitate toward Columbus, at least for a few seasons.
It will be interesting, but even with Harbaugh I think we're more like three or four seasons away from a rebuilt and competitive program, if we're fortunate. I hope I'm wrong and M becomes competitive in two or three seaons (or even sooner)!

These guys are only doing commercials and are available...
|5 weeks 6 days ago||Hmmm....||
|7 weeks 6 days ago||Tough call.||
Not sure who would be best for the program.
Best chance of a fast-track, short-term turnaround: Les Miles or Jim Harbaugh
Longer-term turnaround, but perhaps longer-term coaching stability: PJ Fleck (I like his youth and infectious enthusiasm)

...is that if SF players don't like playing for him, would a high school recruit be concerned, too?
|13 weeks 5 days ago||I really like the idea...||
...of having our team clean it with toothbrushes. They just don't seem as passionate about this game as the other guys.
As an old-schooler, I prefer retaliation to be done with blue paint, not maize. I superstitiously suspect our slide into mediocrity can be tied to an emphasis on maize over blue, but that could just be a residual bad beer effect on my brain.

...where the bottom is. Football is a strange game and two or three big plays can make all the difference in any given contest.
Regardless of where we end up, we still have the coolest helmets. So, there's that.

...I think a cardboard cutout of Bo would inspire the team more than BH.
|16 weeks 6 days ago||Ah....||
...thank you Mattison for a wee bit of normalcy in the midst of mayhem.

...a ONCE worthy opponent."
|16 weeks 6 days ago||While unfortunate, the Morris incident...||
...adds another compelling and convenient reason to replace BH in addition to his abysmal record (4-9 in the last 13 games). The talent on the roster isn't the problem. It's the coaching (or lack thereof) IMHO.
It also provides a valid reason to dismiss a bungling DB.
I've been thinking that waiting until the season's end would be likely and prudent, but now I think immediate action is the best course and naming an interim HC.
This single incident has probably set Michigan football back another 2 to 3 years; perhaps longer from a recruiting perspective alone.
I'm not sure BH even realizes the severity of the sh!tstorm he's in.

...I find it fascinating that our culture demands instantaneous accountability from our coaches and yet our politicians, celebrities and even athletes are often issued "get out of jail free" cards.
I've always felt Hoke was an example of the Peter Principle and he best belongs in the more suitable role of a position coach. Certainly the University can't believe that he personifies the "leaders and best" credo.
This thing has gone viral. Even Warner Wolf on Imus' CATV show this morning featured a short segment on Hoke with the assessment that "he's gotta go."
Think of the recruiting ramifications.
|20 weeks 2 hours ago||Well...||
...as an new, incoming offensive coordinator, I think I would have looked at M's most successful games from last year with Gardner (ND and Ohio) and cherry picked elements from those games and integrated them into my offensive scheme. I don't think arriving at that conclusion takes a brain surgeon to figure out. Parts of last year's schemes fit the players' collective skill set.
Oh well. What the hell do I know??
|20 weeks 6 days ago||God forbid...||
this ever be considered:
|21 weeks 3 days ago||Must put this game...||
...in the rear view mirror ASAP.
|21 weeks 4 days ago||How can...||
...you not love these guys. M football is special and they appreciate the rare opportunity they have.
|21 weeks 4 days ago||I heard a report...||
...that he tragically drowned in his own tea leaves.
|21 weeks 4 days ago||As Hoke pointed out...||
...App State is the only program in the country we have a losing record against. I would genuinely hate to be coming into the Big House with that kind of scenario and incentive going against me.

...12 "wells." He had 5 or 6 more on the tip of his tongue and pulled them back in to use in future pressers.

...run this year and run pretty darned well. Bank on it. My crystal ball is never wrong.
|21 weeks 5 days ago||I have to believe...||
...that the conventional wisdom was that he wouldn't get the waiver. I'd be surprised to learn that Ty didn't believe the same thing and expected to sit out a year.
|21 weeks 6 days ago||Yes, as he should.||
I think he's playing his cards close to his vest, as is to be expected. I'm optimistic about this team. I think 10 wins is very achievable for this group. I'll be disappointed with anything less.
A new season with new, high-tempo energy and a simplified strategy will make a huge offensive difference.
|22 weeks 1 hour ago||Which could mean...||

|22 weeks 5 days ago||This quote from Regina...||
“He kind of holds onto that -- ‘I am a kid from inner-city Crenshaw and inner-city Cleveland.’” Regina said. “Well, no, he’s not. He’s a young man going to the University of Michigan and playing football. He needs to walk in that greatness now. Other people can only dream of that.”
|22 weeks 5 days ago||I find this incredible.||
If citizens, with no affiliation to the team or the university, want to pool resources and send a parent to a game, how the hell is that a violation of NCAA rules????
Somebody help me understand that.
|22 weeks 6 days ago||10 to 1...||
