Anyone but Phil. Would like to see Mahan win, if not than maybe Charl Schwartzel since I have him in a betting pool. |
| 4 days 20 hours ago | Two flaws in your statement. |
Two flaws in your statement. When Valverde was re-signed he had more than one pitch (forkball, fastball). Also some of the best closers in MLB history had 1-2 pitches, Eckersley, Rivera, Gossage, Billy Wagner, etc. It's not like you are facing guys 2-3 times so if you have a dominante pitch (like Valverde forkball cerca 2011) you can be an elite closer. |
| 5 days 7 hours ago | Agree on most points |
I agree on most points, especially the Papelbon comments (I actually think the number is $15-16 million per season). As for Rondon, the walks situation still scares me. Even in AAA he seems to really struggle with runners on base. Also, he is a young guy who most likely needs to develop a secondary pitch to be an effective MLB pitcher. Now the question is do you let him do that development in AAA or bring him up now and use him in spacific situations where you can try and build confidence? Honestly, I don't know that there is a right answer for this. |
| 5 days 7 hours ago | Rondon |
Granted it's limited in limited appearances but the guy has a 42.00 ERA and and 19.3 H/9. Yes he has been very good in AAA but sometimes guys just can't make that jump. I think he's relied on a 100mph fastball in the minors and at the major league level it is "very straight"
On a side note, watching on the Minnesota Twins broadcast tonight they seemed pretty confident spreading the rumor of Jonathan Papelbon to Tigers happening. |
| 6 days 16 hours ago | I'm sorry but playing Army |
I'm sorry but playing Army every year a combined 37-117 since 2000 is hand-in-hand with playing a FCS opponent. I think we all can respect the Army team but they are about as competitive as top FCS teams. |
| 1 week 7 hours ago | Tomas Tatar |
Tomas Tatar has emerged as a pure goal scorer this season. Even while Nyquist and Andersson were up with the Wings Tatar lead the AHL Playoffs in goals. He scored again tonight to bring his total to 13. At 22 I think he has a really high ceiling as a goal scorer at any level. |
| 1 week 1 day ago | Beasley silly |
Beasley silly foul picks up a yellow card late, which rules him OUT vs Honduras next week. This is a little worrisome due to the lack of depth on the back line. |
| 1 week 1 day ago | JOZY! |
This team is so much fun to watch right now. Jozy not only attacking but his touch on balls allowing guys to run onto them is really imrpessive. Beasley rings one off the post. |

Clint mis-hit almost goes in... Almost an incredible strike of luck. |

WOW Cameron with an amazing pass, and what a first touch by Johnson!! GOOOOOAAAALLLL |
| 1 week 2 days ago | Agreed |
I think moving to the Eastern Conference will open some Wings fans eyes. Having been to ACC in Toronto, Scotiabank Place in Ottawa, Belle Center in Montreal, and First Niagara Center I honestly think the Wings will have the worst arena outside of Florida. Best Arenas: Air Canada Center, and Staples in my travels. |
| 2 weeks 6 hours ago | Early in Playoffs |
Yes early in the playoffs the Griffins were doing well, and I agree about Jurco, really like his game. But OKC had a 2-1 series advantage with 2 home games in games four and five when Nyquist and Andersson came down. The next two games were 4-0 and 3-0 Griffin wins. I really think OKC wasn't ready systems wise to deal with what the Griffins were able to do moving Jurco on a line with Nyquist and Andersson. The DeKeyser add for the finals will be a big help, assuming he plays as well as he did in Detroit. |
| 2 weeks 8 hours ago | Really only 2 players. |
Really only 2 players. Nyquist and Andersson. Now it could be argued that sending those players down really helped Jurco and Ferraro because OKC couldn't put their top D-pair to shut down them like they did early in the series. |
| 2 weeks 3 days ago | VICTORY!! |
As bad as the final 20+ mins were this is a big win for the US even if against a B-squad for Germany.

| 2 weeks 3 days ago | 4-3 |
More bad defending by Belser and no rebound coverage... |
| 2 weeks 3 days ago | 4-2 |
Bad defending by Gonzalez again. |
| 2 weeks 3 days ago | WOW!!! |
Dempsey with an absolute beauty of a stirke!!! 4-1 USA! This is the type of game they needed heading into WC Qualifying! |
| 2 weeks 3 days ago | GOOOAALLL! |
Clint Dempsey is a scoring machine!! 3-1 USA! |
| 2 weeks 3 days ago | Omar Gonzalez has to be able |
Omar Gonzalez has to be able to mark guys on set pieces. Beasley is so undersized for a leftback that Gonzalez has to be able to win balls. |
| 2 weeks 3 days ago | The Mertesaker chance should |
The Mertesaker chance should have been a penalty. He pulled down Beasley. But could be 1-1 for sure. |
| 2 weeks 3 days ago | WOW!! |
OWN GOAL!!! 2-0 USA!!! |
| 2 weeks 3 days ago | GOOOAALLL! |
GOOOOOALLL!!! What a finish for Jose Altidore!!! Nice volley on a cross from Zusi! |

I know the Bayern Munich players are not here due to the German Cup game yesterday, but are the BVB guys also not on this trip? |

Looks like Drew Baker (Kentucky Commit) got an invite to Elite 11 Finals.
|
| 2 weeks 3 days ago | Likewise |
Likewise, I think they need to find some sort of form and confidence leading into the 3 qualifying matches this month. If they come out and get hammered again it could really hurt the confidence in qualifying. |
