Couple things to note. When a school agrees to "host" as PSU is doing in Allentown, they are automatically placed in that regional. One issue is the staff from PSU, has to then run the regional. This is also why places like Van Andel are rarely used as a regional site as WMU, MSU, Ferris State are all over an hour from the venue and getting proper staff is likely a logistical issue.
Friends with his HS head coach. School where he is from plays 8-man football. Had offers from a lot of high end schools even coming from a small program. Has a really big leg, and impressive in less than two years of football. Former standout soccer player.
One item to note... Shaq and Tim Duncan were young 18 year olds, Ewing and Olajuwon both 18 most of freshman season, Hunter will play the majority of his "freshman" season as a 20 year old.
I do think in terms of a big's maturity and coming into his body, age has a significant factor.
Dorsey is going to be on a lot of short lists for NFL head coaching jobs, let alone NFL OC jobs. Why would he leave for a job at Michigan? Unless you are canning Gattis and giving Dorsey complete control of play calling a QB coach and OC.... which is NOT happening.
I don't think either team will put out their strongest 11 for Sunday's game. The FA Cup semi final just isn't as meaningful as the league games on Wednesday/Thursday. Chelsea will have 48 hours more rest, but the Liverpool game is much more important. With Man United now only 1 point behind Chelsea (and even with Leicester) the last two games in the league will determine the Champions League places.
I wouldn't be surprised if Lampard rests Pulisic and gets him a full week's rest before they play Liverpool on Wednesday in a must win match.
Upon watching the game a second time, something really stood out. We all know single plays can lead to wins vs. losses. This couldn't be more true from the ND game. I counted 5 individual plays that determined the win, sadly ALL 5 WENT TO ND.
1. 1st Drive DB (Hall) drops INT, drive continues and results in TD (ND +7)
2. 2nd drive Hawkins short arms INT and gives up arm punt TD. (ND+14)
3. Winovich roughing the passer after 3rd and goal stop, results in TD vs FG attempt (ND +18)
4. UM first and goal from 2, OL and play call result in sack 8 yard loss. Results in FG vs TD (ND +22)
5. UM 2nd and 1 from mid field (3rd quarter) OL/RB fail in pass protection. Shea makes bad decision instead of taking sack. Result INT and ND gets ball, killing promising drive.
So in 5 plays the point differential was +22 for ND.
Michigan actually playing Hawaii. This is one of the first times no team from California is at Williamsport. "Shoddy defense" is the norm at that level. 11-13 year-olds typically aren't seeing the ball hit with the speed/height that they are seeing for the first time. Combine with crowds larger than they've ever been playing in front of, and a field no one is used to being on.
Now the Purify kid from Grosse Point is a pure athlete. That kid baseball, or other sport is a talent.
I use YouTubeTV through my Samsung Smart TV and rarely if ever get buffering. I've recently watched NHL playoffs, NBA playoffs, Champions League Final, and Tigers games with no issues. I think a lot is dependent on your hardware/internet connection.
As a head coach of a varsity hockey program, this is appalling. I would say most schools are very on top of hazing in today’s climate. As a coach you will never know 100% of what your team is doing away from the rink (field, court, etc) but I would hope a good coach is paying attention close enough to stop something like this.
The US draw is amazing though... having the Fins, Swedes and Canadians all in the top half of the bracket. Have to find a way to beat the Czechs to get to medal rounds.
Canadians (if my family is any indication) also feel outside of the Russians have an advantage sending non-NHL players. Canada has by far one of the biggest, fastest teams in the tournament and is filled mostly with guys who went over seas when NHL career wasn’t going well.
A lot tougher for a team like Slovakia or Swiss to field a dangerous squad without their 8-10 NHL players.
I haven’t really listened to him, but he was interviewing a West Michigan high school AD that I admire. Huge called him the wrong name at least a half dozen times. I said something via twitter about being a professional and being prepared for guests... I was quickly blocked by Huge.
In second season it was good for them to show a kid like Dakota Allen. By all accounts one of the few who takes school and his grades seriously. Yes, he was in a bad situation and got in trouble, but was really glad to see him pull his life back together.
Recently watched a Texas Tech game and was happy to see he made it back to their program and is playing.
I know 3 of the 4. Army, Utah and USC. The fourth I would assume is a team we haven't played in a long long time. Maybe Ivy League school, I'll guess Yale.
Thankfully went with Cousins...
Simply because Philly defense has given up the most fantasy points to QBs the past 6 weeks. Cousins at least keeping me in the game.
Don't we all wish we reach that level of career success, to no longer have to go look for the trolls of the internet. Congrats to Brian on such success (and no I'm not being condescending).
Very true regarding world football transfer rumors. The player I think that could have the most impact is Varane, and also Krychowiak. He would be that DM who can hold the ball, and also fill in behind a Shaw/Darmian who like to get forward.
I am also not high on Jon Stones but it seems like everyone who knows football is, so I guess I'm in the same boat as you in regards to him. As to Pogba, he was at United prior to Juve and they obviously sold him too soon. Hopefully, United put in a request that can win him.
I think people get caught up in the name of Jose. But tactically this could be very good move for United. Jose's very structured system of defense could prove very benefitial for some of the young defenders currently on United, and those rumored to be joinging the club.
Assuming the addition of Zlatan, Pogba, Grzegorz Krychowiak (Sevilla) and either Jon Stones (Everton) or Raphael Varane (Real Madrid). You then have a great crop of both defensive-minded and highly skilled young players, to compliment what could also be a great attacking club going forward.
The $80m a year that ManUnited and the Glazers are getting from General Motors is exactly why big name teams (and small ones also) can generate more revenue than any down turn in jersey sale. The owners know fans will always buy jerseys, how many of us will be buying the new Nike jersey this fall? Now a small portion may not buy a jersey with a sponsor logo, but no nearly enough to stop them from taking the major pay day.
Look at a team like Leicester City their current kit sponsor is the team owners... You don't think after their storybook season they won't sign a huge deal with a sponsor to help them spend to remain competitive. They likely will lose many players but if they get $30-50m a year for putting a company on the front of their jersey they likely can re-sign some of their best players.
As much as I think Canelo should walk through Khan, Canelo tends to struggle with guys who can really move in the ring. Canelo never seems to do a good job of cutting off the ring and getting guys in tight quarters where he does his best work. If Canelo allows Khan to use his hand speed and length while moving around the outside Canelo could end up looking a lot of rounds.
Prediction: Canelo (while behind on points) via stoppage in 10th round.
I can't wait to see what the Premier League script writers have in store over the next couple weeks.
What I am also excited to see is Arlo White (NBC Sports lead play-by-play) who was born in Leicester get to call the game. There is no way he ever thought his team could ever be in a position to win a title, let alone him be able to call the game and have his "do you believe in miracles" type moment.
Saying no lacrosse player looks like a football player, is like saying none of the hockey team look like basketball players. The athletes are trained for their sport specifically, you wouldn't want a 275 lbs football DE as long stick defender on the lacrosse team. Same that you wouldn't want a 5'9" attack man as your starting strong safety.
Having grown up in Michigan, and then moving to central NY, I can attest that elite athletes definitely choose lacrosse. I was shocked when I moved to NY how many kids you see walking to school with a lacrosse stick (even inner city kids).
Thank you for providing that detailed breakdown of the 35% chance. I'm sure you couldn't have found a place to voice this important information in the OPEN THREAD just below this.
I'm not as tech savvy as many on this board but my question (which I personally don't have a stance on yet) is does it matter the phone was owned by the local government? This was not a private citizens phone, should someone have an expectation of privacy on a company (in this case city) provided phone?
The local government did not object to the FBI request which is one reason the judge granted the request.
That quote was from Cherry Creek Coach, not Valor's coach. I'm sure his coach is more than happy he was able to make his choice and not have any distraction next year.
First 16 mins were typical All-Star game. Zero actual hockey, but last 4 of the first game were good. Guys actually breaking up passes, not giving up breakaways.
Overall better product that previous years so far. I think the "championship" game should be 10-12 mins of good 3 on 3
Regularly skate at Munn as work has relocated me to the area. Since the recent renovation the rink is 100% better (not saying much, I know). The new lighting, boards, and glass make it at least better.
As for the benches, it is a big home ice advantage. One your penalty box is next to your bench, opposed to across the ice.

Plenty of better options than current staff...
Fickell, Matt Campbell as you mentioned but... Heupel, Brent Venebels, and Bryan Harsin also would be worthy hires.

Not sure about in Florida, but BTN is available in Michigan on YouTubeTV.
Sounds like the group of athletes in that school is deep.

Ideal Starting XI for Jose next season would be:
GK- DeGea
LB- Shaw CB- Smalling CB- Varane RB- Stones/Darmian
DM- Krychowiak/Scheiderlin CM- Rooney CM- Pogba RW- Rashford
LW- Martial ST- Zlatan
This will surely help the rivalry moving forward (even if just in a the short term).
1. ManUnited game from the Stretford End of Old Trafford (hopefully next January while in England)
2. Michigan at Rose Bowl
3. Red Wings Cup Finals game in new arena
