It seemed like something that should be ignored at such a crucial point in the game. There's great basketball product that goes on for 39 minutes and that call tainted that last minute for me.
I wonder if the defensive pressure is going to shift towards GRIII. I'd like to see Stauskas in some better shot opportunities. It seems like he's been well covered that whole half.

I know stats don't mean everything, especially when it comes to The Game. But we can't ignore our inefficiency and pretend our issues this year can be ignored.
For 2013, the only glaring difference in the statistics I saw were in the offense. OSUs offense ranks 6th while Michigan ranks 94th. The quote from Biakabutuka captures the point I guess I'm trying to make. Our line doesn't give us a favorable edge in this game. Our run game is ranked 100th and I was too bummed to look up our passing offense but I can only assume it's nothing spectacular.
I guess another stat I could have looked up was sacks allowed for those previous games. For this year, we have 32 sacks allowed compared to OSUs 13 and they have so far reached the QB 36 times this year (another disappointing stat is we have given up 244 yards on all those sacks). Our offensive line is young or inexperienced or both (minus Schofield and Lewan). But I think another issue may be Gardner and his progression and when a play becomes broken and how Gardner responds to defensive pressure. This allows defenses to confidently stuff the box, shut down the run game and force Gardner to respond to the pressure. I'll probably rewatch the Iowa game later and see if there is a pattern of error in Gardner's progression.
Akron is just playing with so much confidence. In a game where at this point we were expecting second stringers to be in, this is just not a good position to be in.
Pressure is going to be on Gardner the rest of this game and the rest of the season. Defenses are going to be loading up the box forcing him to make quick decisions. Akron is showing how to take advantage of that.
I'm switching back and forth between Indy vs Minn and Duke vs NC State. It seems when I switch back to the Indy game, they are controlling the boards when they miss.
