Our offense feels very controlled right now. Grind out drives, trust the defense to keep it close, throw in a wrinkle to get a big play when it's not expected. It's only 5 games and no good defenses since Utah, but they keep having new wrinkles and they keep leading to big plays. We'll see over the next two weeks just how sustainable it is but the trend has been solid so far. Coaches seem content to keep it very vanilla when they know the opponent is over matched.

Basically coaches saying Michigan is good, playing classic Harbaugh football(run a lot, control clock/game, strong D line, and make opponent uncomfortable), Rudock may hold them back, will win more than people expected year one. Also doing a good job adapting to personnel and using what they are good at.

Not sure, but since it was an away game it's likely Mgoblog had no one at the game with a press pass.

Yeah, that's one of the nice things about Yogi Ferrell for Indiana and something I'm looking forward to with Simpson at PG. And the coaches aren't just going after large CBs, they don't have the same focus on size that Hoke had. Lavert Hill and Chris Brown are just 2 of the many CBs under 6' that the coaches have gone after.

That's one of the nice things about college players who are undersized for the pros, you are less likely to lose them early and they can be just as good or better in college despite being too small. The NFL/NBA loves size and athleticism even if the players haven't played the best on the field. So a guy with an NFL/NBA body is probably gone before they reach their potential or you get 1 great year with them while you can get 2-3 good years with a player who doesn't have elite measurables.

Selfishly I hope his small stature requires him to come back next year to prove to the NFL he's ready but in my mind he's gone after this year. He's playing at such a high level, and has shown the ability to cover players considerably bigger than himself that I don't think the questions about his size will hurt his draft stock much.

No Lorenz this week? Is he going to be a regular guest or just the first couple of shows?

I really like Drake Johnson's little hurdle of the tackle attempt at 13:30. He does it so naturally after being a hurdler in HS and just looks to have the quickest feet of all the RBs.
|1 day 15 hours ago||Because if you don't bring||
Because if you don't bring them on visits you don't even have a shot. Even if you have a 1% shot, it can be worth it for a school like Michigan and it's refreshing to see instead of the Hoke mentality of turning away visitors who weren't super interested in MIchigan.
|1 day 19 hours ago||At least with the camp visit||
At least with the camp visit Michigan doesn't mind taking a chance with an official from a kid who is unlikely to switch from the school he is committed to. Don't think the previous staff did that much and it never hurts to take a shot if you think they can play. Worst thing that happens is they say no.

2017 recruit from out of state. It's unlikely OSU would keep all their 2017 kids anyway with so long until signing day. OSU has lost a total of 3 games in 3 years under Meyer, nothing's crumbling down until he retires, he moves on, or Harbaugh beats him into submission.

At this point though, the B1G offenses haven't tainted the rankings too much as we've just started conference play. Right now Michigan has played more Pac12 teams than B1G teams.

I'm not sure the two teams combined will score 12 points.

Yes too late. Needs to not have played more than 30% of the season so it's a couple games late for the medical redshirt.
|3 days 19 hours ago||I think it's 2 games too late||
I think it's 2 games too late for medical redshirt, as he needs to have competed in less than 30% of the season.

Lets go for 3 in a row.
|3 days 19 hours ago||Very little difference||
Very little difference between 12 points and 13 points, as it is unlikely that Maryland can score 3 times with a little over a quarter to play. So no risk in going for 2 to make it a 2 touchdown lead.

Not saying they aren't a decent team, just that you can't learn much beating up on a team with a defense onlly slightly better than CMU, and an offense worse than 114 other NCAA teams.

Thought BYU's defense looked good, then looked up UCONN and saw their offense is 115th in S&P rankings, and their defense is 69th. Not sure we will learn much about BYU from this game in relation to Michigan.
|6 days 17 hours ago||I don't know if anyone has||
I don't know if anyone has seen the Patriots formation where they line up with 4 TEs split out wide and dare opponents to have 4 players who can cover that many big recievers. I'd love Michigan to copy that and line up with Butt, Bunting, Wheatley and Williams.
Here's an article on the formation:

My biggest concern for the MSU game is they always seems to spend months watching Michigan film and are able to exploit something that other teams hadn't found. I'm sure Harbaugh has been made aware of MSU's intense focus on this game and can show some completely different looks to waste all the time MSU spent preparing.

Is the NW defense really that good? I haven't watched them this season.
|1 week 2 days ago||Our stats on offense are a||
Our stats on offense are a bit depressed considering Harbaugh seems perfectly content to close the playbook once Michigan is firmly on top and just rep stuff for practice against a live defense. a BYU parent said that the players were totally not prepared for MIchigan because Michigan brought an entirely new game plan for this game like an NFL team while BYU just planned to execute their game. That's why plays like the double fake to the sidelines then hitting the TE up the middle was so open.
Defense definitely needs to force more turnovers, but it's very impressive how stingy they have been on defense without forcing that many turnovers.

Kawakami's twitter feed is pretty funny. I get the impression his take on the Harbaugh to Michigan stuff last year was more because he was a huge Harbaugh fan and didn't want him to leave.

Not a bad idea on Hankerson, I'll look into it. Can't afford to have a 3rd WR unable to play sitting on my bench with Jeffrey and Bryant.
|1 week 3 days ago||I would go Robinson, NE||
I would go Robinson, NE defense isn't great and they will need to try to score a lot to keep up with that O.
|1 week 3 days ago||I would go Randle and Lewis.||
I would go Randle and Lewis. Baltimore is a solid defense and Gio isn't even the starter. I have him on my bench but I think for now last week was a fluke. And NE has shown no signs of going away from Lewis though you never know with BB. I avoided Lewis after I got burned by NE RBs the last couple of seasons but am kicking myself now over not picking him up week 1. My league this year everyone seems to pick up the hot waiver wire picks 1 week before they end up on all the must own lists.
|1 week 3 days ago||Wish I could but have a bench||
Wish I could but have a bench of Bradford, Deangelo Williams, M Bryant, Matt Jones, A Jeffrey, and Gio Bernard. And I can't find any suitible replacements to play this week. Just couldn't get on the Benjamin train just like everyone else in my league as he went through the waiver wire unclaimed. Was going to go for Crabtree but he was taken first pick and I know 3 people ahead of me were also after him.
|1 week 3 days ago||Not sure if it's good or bad||
Not sure if it's good or bad that I have no choices this week. With Alshon Jeffrey and Martavis Bryant on my bench I'm forced to start Charles Johnson as my WR3 and Doug Martin as my flex. I took the long play this year drafting Bell and Bryant and somehow I'm 2-0 when I was kind of expecting 1-1 or 0-2 in order to pick up some break out stars on the waiver wire.
