I feel like most if their rational posters have left or given up, and the juvenile fans have the run of the place now. A bit of the same happened here with some of the original mgoblog posters quit as readership grew.

What's sad is it's one of their main writers who posts them. After reading Brian's moniker for DJ Byrnes, perpetually aggrieved, I can't help but laugh every time I see a post of his about Michigan. The guy really does act like a child most of the time.

Looks like Harbaugh is going to take full advantage of this loophole while it exists. With Michigan suddenly setting up half a dozen camps around the country I can't imagine this will be allowed for long. The SEC/PAC12/Big12 are not going to like the idea of the teams from the talent poor states of the midwest coming and encroaching on their turf. Hopefully Michigan can build the relationships this year with the sophomores and freshmen to land a few after this is no longer allowed.

That just gets clunky and over complicated. Does forcing teams to kick a 40 yard kick for 1 pt really excite people? Why not just make it automatic and get on with the game.

It should be just worth 7 and you give up 1 point if you want to try for 2. The idea of moving it back to the 25 yard line and then declaring you are going for 2 and moving it back up to the 2.5 is such a clunky rule. Kickig from the 2.5 is essentially automatic and just an unecessary delay of the game. In the current state, after a TD I find something else to do for the next 5 minutes instead of watchig XP-->commercial-->kickoff-->commercial.

Yea, only reason I gave OSU a chance against VCU was because VCU didn't have any big starters, allowing OSU to play their small line up. Any other match up and I doubt they would have won.

Then wouldn't Michigan's 2012 team have been an NBA playoff team by that logic? 2 top 10 drafted players, 4 first total first rounders, a second rounder, and another potential top 10 draftee in Levert?

I love the academic stuff, seems Harbaugh wasn't lying when he made the comment about academics at Michigan and in addition to building up the football side of the program is also committed to building the academic side.

Of course, why didn't I think of it sooner, the dancing and having fun was the issue last year. It had nothing to do with poor coaching or only having 9 blockers, if he just hadn't been having a good time dancing when nothing was going on he could have been a superstar.

It has nothing to do with our generation, listen to any politician or public person of any age issue an apology and it's hollow and no wrongdoing is admitted.

I've oftened wondered what there was to prevent paying players after they graduated, just wish I had thought to come up with charging a 9% fee on all money paid to the players.

Read over your first two sentences and ask yourself if you would use those words to describe Gardner if he were white. I'm tired of these stereotypical descriptors of players based on their skin color.
|3 weeks 3 days ago||That works in pick up games||
That works in pick up games but in bounds plays are not just guys running around trying to get open. They are drawn up to get certain guys open in a good position. Think of it like a football play, the combination of routes may not make sense to the casual observer but in a smart offense they all serve a purpose in the overall design of the play.
|3 weeks 5 days ago||They are very different||
They are very different players though. If Williams can become a good blocker, he's essentially a 6th OL at his size. Neither Bunting nor Butt have the size to play that roll. If you want 2 recieving TEs on the field then hopefully Bunting passes WIlliams for that spot.
|3 weeks 5 days ago||I would guess it's the||
I would guess it's the ability to make the throws that are there and protect the ball. I get the feeling the offense will be very vanilla this year, lots of running to set up play action and methodical drives down the field. Need a QB who can make short passes to pick up first downs and keep the chains moving, not someone with a cannon who can throw 70 yards but also has a tendency to turf the ball. Malzone fits that mold best of the available QBs this, and is one of only 3 going through spring ball.
|3 weeks 6 days ago||Just because Luck being great||
Just because Luck being great had nothing to do with bringing in 2 QBs a year, and Stanford hasn't had success outside of Luck at the QB position since 2008 does not mean the 2 QBs a year wasn't responsible for Stanford's wins. Bringing in a lot of QBs allowed Harbaugh to find one who could be great and given the quality of the QBs since Luck left he certainly would have brought in a lot more than Shaw has.

I have never understood the allure of hedgefunds. Their fees always sound absurd to me, things like 2% of managed funds plus 20% of profits. Even if they could outperform the market by 3% you would still lose money.
|3 weeks 6 days ago||It definitely has, but they||
It definitely has, but they also haven't paid rent in 35 years. I figure taxes + upkeep equal out with rent, pluse there is $2200 a month in rental income from one floor(now that kids moved out), so I was considering it breaking even.

Did Shaw learn nothing from Harbaugh on the importance of having a lot of shots at a great QB?
|3 weeks 6 days ago||I'm not advocating frequent||
I'm not advocating frequent trading with your portfolio, but if you invest in a broad range of individual stocks with the intention of holding them for a long time, you should have greater annual returns than an index fund because you aren't charged any fees. Even if it's .5%, that can add up a lot over 20 years.
|3 weeks 6 days ago||This is probably the best||
This is probably the best advice here for someone looking to start investing long term for retirement. I was recently looking at the growth of the S&P as well as the DJIA over the last 35 years(when my parents bought their house) and both have gone up about 20 fold, exactly the same as the house. I had gone into the research thinking the house would have had a greater return but it was pretty even. And the stock market is a lot less work than owning a house.
|3 weeks 6 days ago||When you have more money, you||
When you have more money, you can buy multiple individual stocks to diversify as well instead of using mutual funds to do that. Even the lowest fee mutual funds take some cut so you are better off just owning the stocks themselves. You can certainly do just fine going index funds and mutual funds but will likely have a slightly lower return.
|4 weeks 15 min ago||If you have a small amount of||
If you have a small amount of money to invest (under $100k), you want to diversify and mutual funds are probably the easiest way to do that. Individual stocks have too much risk and you don't really have enough money to buy multiple stocks without losing too much to transaction fees. Look for low fee mutual funds as fees can seriously eat into any returns. 1-2% may not seem like a ton but look at the difference in growth over a couple decades at 7% vs 5% and it really adds up.

|4 weeks 3 days ago||Well you only listed 8 teams||
Well you only listed 8 teams ahead of Michigan, though I would add LSU, and potentially Georgia, Auburn and Oklahoma currently. Could change in a few years but those are teams that are either the top dog in their talent rich state for recruits or have been very successful over the last decade and proximity to good recruiting areas.
|4 weeks 4 days ago||Maybe development is less||
Maybe development is less important to the top players considering they believe they are NBA ready and just need a place to play for a year? Beilein has yet to have a player go pro after their first year, and hasn't produced an NBA star yet either. Add in the dirtiness of basketball recruiting, the potential NIke/Adidas issue and the long history of success of Kentucky and Duke basketball who we seem to be going up against a lot for recruits and you have a recipe for a lot of recruiting struggles. I like that Beilein and co shoot for the stars recruitingwise, but they might be better served targeting the players in the 40-70 range instead of the top 40.
