The only reason the NFL wants to improve their reputation with women is so they can get women to spend money on tickets and apparel. They brought this whole thing on themselves by trying to draw in women and families while not actually adressing the conduct of their players.

Letting meat come to room temperature before cooking actually isn't necessary and 45 minutes barely does anything.
Some great points about cooking steak in this article including the practice of letting it come to room temperature.

While that is the restaurant method, it actually works better to take it low and slow to raise the internal temp to about 130 for med rare and then blast the outside. It gives more control and a thinner band of well done meat around the edge. A lot of restaurant cooking methods work well for the restaurant setting of getting food out fast and consistent but aren't the optimal way to do things. People have been following what restaurants do for years because "they are the professionals" but that's like imitating NFL plays in touch football where you can't run over someone or break a tackle.

Was glad to see Chesson out on the field after he got drilling trying to make a catch. He was hobling off the field after that and it looked like it could be a rib injury.

Weren't Spence's parents going to sue the school after the first failed drug test and suspension? Or was that a different OSU player? Thought they were adamant that he didn't do drugs.

Can we please wait until Morris has more TDs than interceptions to suggest he should start? What about at least 1 TD?

How about a year long suspenion without pay? I'm sure some charities could do great things with that $44 million check.

Would be amazing to send this series out with another 38-0 blow out like 2003 or 2007, but I would just be happy to have a comfortable win where the game isn't much in question after halftime.

ND also lacks all the stars of that defense. Outside of Day and Smith, their defense isn't intimidating at all. If those two can have their impact limited via offensive scheme I think Michigan has a good shot.

I find it funny how people here love Desmond Howard for always showing his Michigan bias but hate former OSU players who do the same for OSU. If you think all ESPN broadcasters should not show bias, that's fine but don't be a hypocrite. People make way too big a deal about former OSU players calling Michigan games. The alma maters of the commentators doesn't even cross the minds of the people setting up the schedules for the weeks games and it's not a huge deal.

Probably because with all the conference networks out there, sports broadcasting talent is getting thin.

I believe it rotates between the former BCS bowls, but I don't know what the criteria are for Rose Bowl selections when they don't have one of the playoff games.

Don't believe so, because this staff has done such a good job of keeping players in the program and the 2012 and 2013 classes were huge. If check the depth chart by class you'll see that there are only 16 juniors on the team which will keep the class from being huge. Should probably hit 20 though because you always have some departures.

Nice surprise, for some reason I never felt confident about him committing to Michigan.

First, Peppers may be a safety as well. Second, they took 6 DBs the class before and only 2 LBs. Third, while they often play only 2 LBs they like to rotate more at LB and they also need the ability to play 3 for teams like Iowa, Wisconsin, and MSU. Would have been nice if they could have taken Nicholson, but if these previews have shown anything, it's that there is very good depth at CB and Safety and there are at least 2 good db recruits committed in 2015.

Eli Apple was also a top 50 player and Webb was top 35, so Conley beating them out implies he's at least decent.

Much easier way to do this is to cap scholarships per year instead of have an overall cap of 85. Give teams 23 players per year, which gives you 92 over 4 years, then you factor in a few players not staying 4 years and a few staying for 5 and you should be pretty close to the current 85 with teams being incentivised to keep players around instead of replacing them.
Only issue I see is how you handle giving open scholarships to walk-ons if someone leaves the team.

2 reasons: First, because that means the OL blocking still sucks. Second, after Butt, the TE possition is much worse than the WR position so you're playing AJ Williams or Heitzman or Bunting over Canteen or Chesson or Ways.
|5 weeks 10 hours ago||People forget the huge swing||
People forget the huge swing in depth between the start of last season and this season that is allowing the defense to play more agressive and rotate more. At CB you had Avery, Taylor, and Countess coming off an ACL tear. The back ups were 160 lb Richardson, and true freshmen Stribbling and Lewis. While those freshmen played well later in the year, they were still true freshmen. The DL was also really undersized once they lost Pipkins and since they couldn't get push from several spots on the line it hurt the performance of others like Clarke.
With the team being 5 or 6 deep at CB and at least 2 deep along the DL, the coaches can be far more agressive this year. They can get away with rushing 4 or leaving the CBs on an island and bring down the safeties. It gives Mattison a lot more options and flexibility and he can be more agressive. Don't think they can be a top 5 unit this year, but top 15 seems pretty reasonable.

With all the talk of our line backers I just realized this is the first year we haven't heard anything about freshmen LBs playing and it's nice. Sucks to see a player like Bolden is already a true junior and he may not start until he's a senior so I'm glad they are finally getting a chance to redshirt some of these LBs.

Big difference transferring within a city vs halfway across the country. I don't know his families financial status but it happening so fast sure makes me think its shady.

Any time you hear about a kid switching schools to one much closer to a school that just offered or he committed to should make you think some shady shit is going down. Unlikely the NCAA does anything since they haven't even taken a look at any programs recently but it's improbable that some strings weren't pulled that wouldn't have been for just anyone.
|5 weeks 4 days ago||OT||
If the whole running routes and catching thing doesn't work out, any chance they turn him into one of those super athletic first round drafted OTs that schools like Wisconsin put out? He seems to fit that mold with the giant hands, good speed, nastiness/punishing blocking and being 6'7" tall.
Not the ideal place for him to end up with the OL depth, but an option if he isn't a great receiver.
|5 weeks 4 days ago||The team has come a long way||
The team has come a long way depthwise since last year. The CBs were Taylor, Countess coming off an acl tear and then freshmen Lewis and Stribling. Plus, the safeties were new. So you couldn't ask that group to be aggressive because you were likely to give up too many big plays.

|5 weeks 5 days ago||I think it says more about||
I think it says more about character and accountability if they keep a player who isn't likely to contribute meaningfully to the team on the team and try to make him a better person. He made 1 terrible decision during a confrontation outside of a bar, but outside of that we don't know anything about his character. These coaches recruited him, spoke with people at his high school, his family and others in his community to get a sense for what type of person he was. If they think it's best if he stays on the team, I don't have any reason to question them, considering past disciplinary issues.
