Why not the reverse? Scare teams with the deep threat to open up the run game. Felt the issues with Rudock on the deep passes hurt the run game last year until he was able to hit a few.

Personally I've found that diet without exercise doesn't help me lose much weight. When I combine the two I get the best results. Anything that sheds weight fast isn't sustainable, better to go gradually. Also, if you haven't lifted much before, you will gain muscle pretty quickly at first, and likely stay about the same weight but notice a body change as you lose fat and gain muscle.

HIIT is not great for building strength, it's much better for cardio and fat loss. Gittleson was actually mostly right regarding strength gain, lift heavy shit and eat a lot.
If you are serious about putting on muscle, I can't recommend Starting Strength enough. I took a series of group weight lifting classes based on his methodology because I had 0 barbell training and wanted to do it right. In 6 months I put on 30 lbs, some was fat, and then cut 25 lbs and was considerably stronger and leaner.
The main exercise is the backsquat. You do a linear progression adding 5 lbs each lifting day (typically 3 days per week) and that quickly builds up since you're going up 15 lbs a week or 70lbs a month. Very quickly it will be the hardest set of 5 you've done in your life but the results are very noticeable.

It greatly depends on the gym and how they do their work outs. If you just do crossfit style workouts you don't gain much muscle beyond the early stage because you keep doing the same amounts of weight. You need to spend time doing heavy sets as well to keep building strengh.

It's less that Carroll left USC, and more that Stanford went 3-1 against USC(2-1 when Carroll was there). And it's important to remember where those teams where when Harbaugh arrived. USC was looking like an unstoppable juggernaught ending the the previous four years ranked by the AP (#1, #1, #2, #4), while Stanford was coming off a 1-11 season, and a combined record of 14-31 in the previous 4 years. USC was signing classes like this years OSU class. They has 5 5 stars in 2006 and their 2007 class was 18 players with 6 5 stars.
The biggest advantage Harbaugh had at Stanford was no one was expecting it, no one brought their A game to take on Stanford, and USC didn't treat it as a rivalry game. This time it's different, everyone treats Michigan like a big game. Everyone considers MIchigan their rival, and due to the poor coaching the last decade everyone thinks Michigan is a winnable game, a chance to get a signature win. Harbaugh is out to change that, he wants to beat them into submission with a suffocating defense and brutal offense that disabuses them of the notion that Michigan is a winnable game.

I'm just hoping we get to the pummeling of Meyer's team a year earlier. Saban didn't beat Meyer until his 3rd year.

Only problem with that is you don't know who the Michigna QB is. If one were named the starter today, it might make sense to pick them over Beathard. But because you're only 50/50 to pick a starting QB, it makes more sense to take the guaranteed starter, even if he's only 80% as good.

Best performer at recent big man camp, which earned him the offer. Not a generic 3 star to the coaches. With Slaton, Herbert, Wilson, Ruiz, and others still high on Michigan, they wouldn't take him if he wasn't high on their board.

Except that also rests your opponents defense who you want to tire out. You use more energy on defense than offense so the defense tires out first. You're better off having a high risk high reward defense that focuses on negative plays and takeaways. Get the ball back quickly whether your oppenent scores of turns it over and get your offense back on the field.

I'd guess it's something like: "kid, you balled out today and if we didn't have some guys committed or very close to committing, we'd love to have you in the class. Here's a non committable offer, but we'll keep in touch as and if a spot opens up we'll let you know.". Gives the kid exposure and rewarda him for doing well.

The crazy thing about the camps is everyone else is obviously doing it for recruiting while it's a much more subtle and long game approach for Michigan. Not sure if this article by TomVH is insider, but it shows a great contrast between how the schools go about the camps. Michigan is focused on coaching, Rutgers is focused on getting to see the recruits they are interested in enough times.
Just like in Georgia where Smart just showed up to meet the kids Georgia is recruiting.

Many believe his teammate may be even better, though getting both would be fine too.

One of the things I love about Messi is he really doesn't go down without major contact. Always tries to stay up and keep fighting.

I'm very torn on this matchup. I spent a summer in Argentina and not being much if a soccer fan previously started following Argentina. Even back in 2002, when he was 15, the people of Argentina were saying he was the next great player, who would be better than Maradona. So I can't really root for either team to win in this, but will be happy with either result.
And Nessi really is a joy to watch. He plays the game right, gives his best effort, and can still surprise you.

To some people, everything Beilein does is wrong. They have decided that he has to go and criticize anything he does. Spend time at Mott's hospital? Why isn't he out recruiting. Shows up to watch a 5 star at a camp? What's the point, he won't sign him anyway. Accept a transfer? Why didn't he save the spot for a better kid. The only right thing he could do for those people would be to resign, and it has completely turned me off from any dscussion of the bball team.

Florida fans are already starting to get a bit uncomfortable with their new coaching staff's success on the recruiting trail. They didn't close out last year strong the way Michigan did, they see Florida leans(or players they think they should lead for) commit to FSU or leave the state for places like OSU, ND, and Michigan.
After such a good year, and in a state like Florida, they should have finished with a class of 25 being ranked 13th. And so far this year, they are sitting at #42 even behind Michigan State. If McElwain can't bring in better classes, his tenure at Florida may not be very long even if he wins 10 games a year. And whoever replaces him will have an uphill climb due to a low talent roster.

Probably would be good for the kid too, would suck to have your birthday during the season or bowl practice time.

I'd rather be able to negotiate afterwards. Just like with the recent apparel contract, right after Michigan got the "biggest in CFB" OSU and other schools were able to negotiate bigger deals. Let the SEC renegotiate first, then use that deal to get more.

Thirded. Would love a breakdown to see if it really was a breakout game for Michigan, or a poor game by Florida that made Michigan look great.
|2 weeks 4 hours ago||That really feels like||
That really feels like something that Harbaugh's mentality of constant competition and rankings can beat out of players so they are more likely to reach their potential.
|2 weeks 5 days ago||Unfortunately it seems like||
Unfortunately it seems like it's going to happen. My hope is the B1G goes to 20 and then you just put all the old B1G teams in 1 division and it's like realignment never happened. You just play a couple teams from the other division more often than you would before. I'm sure Rutgers would be heartbroken they didn't get to play their rival Michigan every year though.
|2 weeks 5 days ago||Maybe conference realignment||
Maybe conference realignment would allow the MSU game to be moved so Michigan doesn't play MSU/OSU at home in the same year.

I thought so too, then saw that it was Taco Charlton who was covering him. Only way to make a 320lb DT look smaller is have a 6'6" 275 lb DE playing CB to cover him.

If O'Korn wins the QB job I could see Chesson making it there too. Chesson's speed and development as a WR last year, combined with O'Korn's deep ball potential could be deadly.

Yes, I thought I was over the top enough with that but I underestimated people's opinions of MSU fans.
|3 weeks 16 hours ago||You do realize this is more||
You do realize this is more proof to MSU fans that the recruiting sites are biased and gave him the bump because he's a Michigan commit right? Ignore the fact that he's been committed for a year, he just slipped through the cracks but Harbaugh reached out and they adjusted his ranking.
|3 weeks 1 day ago||He was certainly||
He was certainly controversial at Stanford with his comments on Michigan's academics and targeting USC, but he didn't have the spotlight that Michigan has. He was similarly trying to revive Stanford's football reputation but now because of the location, the quickerr rise to a top 25 team, and the already established celebrity it gets a ton more coverage.
And he certainly wasn't taking on the NCAA the way he is at Michigan. Maybe Harbaugh needs a goliath to take down and after besting USC, Alabama and OSU are't big enough so he needs to take on the entire NCAA.
|3 weeks 2 days ago||Look at what people aren't||
Look at what people aren't saying about McCaffrey. There is no one praising his throws, many of the articles from recruiting sites that only saw the throwing portion barely mentioned him. McCaffrey is a high upside recruit who still needs a lot of work to learn the position but has sky high potential.
It's even more impressive that he makes it to the opening considering the other guys have a lot more time playing QB, or private coaches or only play football instead of other sports. And that is exactly what Harbaugh wants, a QB who still has a lot of growth potential who he can work with.
