Well, when we kept having disapointing season after disapointing season I never felt any recruit was safe. But if your team keeps winning, and meets or exceeds expectations almost every recruit will stick. Of course you loose some kids to the Alabama and OSUs of the world, but once you reach that level of on field results at a school like Michigan you shouldn't be losing those players anymore.
|1 day 14 hours ago||The biggest hurdle is going||
The biggest hurdle is going to be the fact that recruiting is about developing relationships and most of the Michigan coaching staff is coming from the NFL. With recruiting starting earlier and earlier, this Michigan staff came in behind not just for the 2015 class, but also the 2016 class. Hopefully the summer camps across the country will help boost Michigan's standing with a few recruits who we haven't heard too much about yet as well as unearthing some under the radar type players you tend to find in camp settings.

Have you seen the QBs that Michigan has available to them this year? Outside of Morris who has yet to throw a TD in college and has a completion % under 50, no one has any experience at all besides Rudock, and experience counts for a ton at the QB spot. Even if Rudock can just replicate his stats at Iowa he blows every other QB out of the water.

If Rudock is decent to good next year and leads Michigan to 10 wins, what will the Iowa fans think of their staff?

Stupid rule change that just adds complexity because they want more viewership for the commercials between TDs and the following possession. Should have just made a TD 7 points with the option to risk 1 for a shot at 2.
Why does it seem when ever something needs to be changed, sports leagues never seem to make the right changes to fix the issue.

He did say where he got the info, he is a HS track coach in the same state as the player is. He could have put more info in the post about who Enis is but there were definitely a couple of posts last week about him earning an offer and people beign confused because he is another RB and a 3 star with meh offers. Clearly the kid is fast, how that translates to the football field is unknown, but if the staff has the ability to develop athletes into football players then this is a promising sign.

I can't remember his name, but there was a recruit who picked FSU over Michigan recently because they offered a criminal justice major that Michigan didn't.
|2 weeks 3 days ago||I would think he could sue||
I would think he could sue the NFL because they wouldn't let him remove himself from the draft to get this sorted out. Unfortunately, it's very difficult to sue your multibillion dolar employer when they are the only company you can work for. Not letting him out of the draft potentially cost him millions in first round guarantees.
|2 weeks 4 days ago||The way out will be painful||
The way out will be painful and extremely unpopular because the opponents will paint it as being anti-opportunity. The easiest way would be to simply take away the guarantee of repayment and allow student loan debt to be wiped out with bankruptcy. Lenders will become more selective and probably raise rates and fewer people will go to college.
|2 weeks 4 days ago||It's a combination of the||
It's a combination of the two. The increase in the ease of getting student loans has given colleges the ability to raise tuition to ludicrous levels without anyone fighting back because they don't feel the sting until years later. The only people who it hurts as students are those from families that are very upper middle class who don't qualify for loans and pay everything out of pocke;t and no one feels any simpathy for them as evidenced by the recent Daily article by the kid from San Francisco.
So schools increase their administration budgets and salaries and no one has spoken up enough to change it until recently. Will be a long road to trim these budgets as someone making a million a year is not going to voluntarily take a 50% pay cut.

I actually find them useful as they tend to be more up to date than the favorite, warm, cool listings that the recruiting sites use themselves. They will never be 100% accurate but it gives a decent sense of where a recruit is looking and what teams are in the running. Even the best recruiting reporters aren't 100% right on where they think kids will go.

Seeing Furman drafted and Rawls signing as an UDFA, does any other team have as many players who transfer out due to lack of playing time/production and end up in the NFL as Michigan?
Edit: And congrats to Gardner on signing with the Patriots, hope they can be patient with him like they were with Edelman and he can become a productive WR.

I'm sorry, but starting off a post by qualifying Brown as "one of the worst safeties in Michigan's History" is uncalled for. Everyone remembers Brown and his struggles, no need to lead off a post about good news for himthat way.

Only the actual NFL revenue, not the individual teams, and most of what the NFL brings in is distributed back to the teams.

Completely a PR move, that does't hurt the NFL's income. When in the last decade has the NFL ever done anything that reduces revenue or given up a profit source?

Speaking of Stubhub, does anyone know the best time to buy individual tickets on stubhub? I know prices will be higher this year than in years past, but supply seems pretty low right now. Will There be a lot more tickets posted when season tickets go out?

They can probably claim it counts as breaking the rule already in place about not participating in camps more than 50 miles away.
|4 weeks 1 hour ago||I don't disagree with your||
I don't disagree with your last point, OSU was a team that peaked at the right time, with young players who improved and gelled as the season wore on and it wasn't until the last few games that everythig came together. Before then they were certainly beatable.
|4 weeks 1 hour ago||It wasn't that the coaches||
It wasn't that the coaches couldn't figure out the defense, it was they hadn't prepped for it at all and it messed with the QBs reads. Only so much you can do at half time with a QB in his 2nd game. Later in the season, when the OL was better and the QB more experienced, they would have had more options to adjust to, especially in the running game, and a QB more comfortable with the offense.

I believe another team tried the same things the next week and had 0 success. VT was successful because they were going against a RS freshman QB who was starting his 2nd game and hadn't practiced for what he saw.

Maybe it's just the fact that he's another 6'10" unheralded white guy, but he reminds me of Doyle when he committed. Hopefully he can redshirt or only be needed for 5-10 minutes a game as a freshman behind Doyle, will be nice to have depth and upper classmen experience at the 5 again. Plus, that 7'2" wingspan is nice.

You can be such a buzzkill Magnus, but I do enjoy your scouting reports. Interesting that Drevno is going after a kid who is on the overrated side, but he must think he can fix the technique issues.
|4 weeks 4 days ago||Over the last 4 years,||
Over the last 4 years, Michigan has shown they can win with freshmen and sophomore guards, but as this past season has shown, the same isn't true for centers(McGary is an exception but he's an elite talent). The big guys need more time to develop, grow into their bodies, and learn to play down low against the rest of the B1G.
So Beilein has made it a point to not repeat what happened this season where he had too few good options at center. I would think more people would be happy about no true freshmen starting centers.

|5 weeks 6 days ago||Maybe there's a balance||
Maybe there's a balance somewhere in the middle? Maybe men feel like they are under attack when someone claiming they raped them can destroy their lives even if there is no evidence because colleges use "preponderance of evidence" and don't allow any defence by accused students?
Rape is a serious issue that needs to be adressed(on and off campus, though it's far worse in poor and minority communities than on campus), but exagerating it and labeling anyone who calls you on those exagerations a mysoginist or pro-rape is not conductive at all.
|6 weeks 44 min ago||What's sad is while rape on||
What's sad is while rape on campus is certainly an issue, it's actually higher off of campuses. Women of the same age and socioeconomic bracket who aren't in college are more likely to be raped but no one is speaking up for them. And minority and poor women are at an even greater risk of rape but don't get the attention they deserve.
