Fun fact in St Louis. 100% of the time if someone mentions lindenwood in any context in conversation, "you know they're d1 now" is tangentially infected into the conversation.
Also, and not related, every time a native St Louisan sees the arch, they will stop mid sentence and tell.whomever they are with, "look there's the arch."
I was at the previous three wins in madison. sophomore year, senior year and as a young professional living in Chicago in 2001.
I've been to maybe 3 total games since.
After the game in 2001, we wanted to go to bar time at Stillwaters but didn't want to spend another night on couches of younger friends of ours who were Wisconsin students.
So we drove to stills. double parked. hung out and drove home (presumably drunk) to Chicago, leaving at 230 in the morning.
Harbaugh came in last winter to watch him play basketball after he'd already committed. He played against my nephew's team at a tournament at Kirkwood HS.
There was one other P5 football kid, who projects to the defensive line, playing in that basketball game. We haven't offered him, to my knowledge. Moses Okpala.
So my take is that JH either is a fan of moderately competitive hs basketball in St. Louis, or he really wanted to see Hassan's athleticism first hand.
I'm friends with one of his coaches -- they were waiting on the offer since Jay's visit. Kid is beast on a team that has a legit chance to win class 6 state.
My nephew guarded him in basketball last year -- didn't go well for him.
No matter how far away from show time the doctor says she is, don't take two benadryl at 1130pm to help you sleep on the floor of the labor and delivery room. She may go into labor at 130 am and she won't appreciate you falling asleep standing up between contractions.
What you see on national television is the Games. The games are one aspect of crossfit. Many people safely crossfit for general physical preparedness, which does not remotely resemble programming for games athletes.
Do I think that a 22 year old watching the Games that can open his own gym after a weekend seminar is dangerous? Of course it is. But there are thousands of quality coaches and gyms where the programming is safe and effective.
And there is nothing inherantly dangerous about a handstand pushup.
Here's the thing about Flight 93. I believe it was clearly shot down. And given the events leading up to it, shooting it down would have been viewed as totally reasonable by the masses at the time.
So what did we do? Cover it up. "Let's Roll" narrative.
If they lied about something as (relatively) benign as that, it begs the question about what else are they lying about, or at a minimum, concealing.
Specifically:
No video of the pentagon crash, even though it was easily one of the most survailed buildings in the entire world.
No independent testing on the WTC metal -- shipped immediately overseas.
Does anyone remember the original reports when the Taliban and al Queda denied a role in the event and then turned 180 degrees a couple days later?
The whole aftermath seemed like a rush to judgement with minimal transparency.
Nothing revolutionary about it -- just a good combination of strength and conditioning. Don't like a movement or lack the equipment, google a substition.
Their other two tracks are top notch, well respected in the crossfit community, which I know is like a KKK endorsement to some of you.
For diet, if you're focused, you'll be hard pressed to find anything more clear or easier to execute than UM's own Nick Shaw's Renaissance Periodization.
But in high school lacrosse we played against the powerhouse team that had never lost a game on Missouri soil (5+ years of history).
Our coach was their former coach, the one who started their program.
We threw a zone at them they'd never seen and carried a 2-0 lead into the half (I scored a goal from midfield when I stripped the ball from the goalie and shot it before I had to absorb a hit from their giant defensemen).
Anyway, they made adjustments at the half and won 18-2.
As I mentioned when he committed, my brother in law was heavily involved in Xavier's recruitment to another school. He's seen him play dozens of games, and says he could play anywhere in the country. Sky is the limit in his opinion.
So, say you go to a casino and you play blackjack, where at best your odds of winning are 49%?
Let's say a successful night for you is a night in which you (arbitrarily) win $200. Do you recommend simply betting $200 on one hand, because each successive hand reduces the odds of winning $200?
By that logic, there is no reason to make, say, air travel safer. The odds of a crash or hijacking are next to zero, and incremental safety costs huge sums of money and inconvenience.
Or auto safety.
Or putting your baby on his/her back to reduce the odds of SIDS.
People make decisions on the incremental margins all the time.
My brother in law used to work for Crean. He's as big of a douche as most of us suspect.
My good friend is a close relative of beilein. He's as good a guy as we suspect. She describes the Harbaugh being a Crean as "interesting."
Her impression, for Beilein, Hoke>Harbaugh>RichRod
My first game too, (see below). Regarding Dreisbach, I would sporadically throughout that game and season yell out "Put in Griese!" into the student section. It was always met with smirking and laughter.
Students are dumb. Or maybe just the students who I sat with.
Win for the good guys, lots of marshmellows but my highlight was a guy from my hall (5 foot 9, maybe 140 and unathletic) who wasn't into sports was watching (presumably his first football game) said, "Man if I trained hard for a year I could be right out there with those guys."
He remains one of my best friends to this day and will never, ever live that statement down.
when one of my roommates from UM got into Harvard Law during senior year, I kept referring to it as Hartford Law and told him he'd have a great time in Connecticut.
Was sitting in a hotel lobby the night before the USC UT national championship after the 2005 season.
OJ was there too, with a blonde girl who had a small dog wearing an OJ Jersey. Small lobby and nobody else was there so I asked him how he saw the big game.
I don't think he was used to people talking to him in a normal manner so we chatted for a few minutes. He went outside for a bit and then came back to talk to me some more.
I think it's the only time I've spoken to a murderer.
That's my point. He's the only one other than Woodson with even a remote shot. Since 88 without looking, so I could have made a mistake:
89 Ware
90 Detmer
91 Desmond
92 Toretta
93 Ward
94 Salaam
95 George
96 Weurfel
97 Woodson
98 Ricky
99 Dayne
00 Weinke
01 Crouch
02 Palmer
03 White
04 Leinart
05 Bush dq
06 Troy Smith
07 Tebow
08 Bradford
09 Ingram
10 Cam
11 RGIII
12 Johnny Football
13 Winston
14 Mariota
Ranking HOF candidacy amongst that group, its obviously Woodson alone. From there, I'd say the second highest odds are Cam, although you could make the argument that Winston has better odds than Cam. Everyone else on the list, except Mariota has virtually zero shot, I'd say.
A little OT but his hall of fame induction will be the first heisman since Barry in 88. There isn't a single other heisman winner out there anywhere near heisman trajectory.
The only one who is even possible in my opinion is Cam, and that's really far fetched.
I raced ironman in Wisconsin in 2010. Ran through Camp Randall twice as part of the Marathon.
Both times I mustered up enough energy to scream badgers suck go blue.
Wasn't good etiquette. Sue me.
A few years ago the cardinals starting rotation included Jason Marquis and Mark Mulder, amongst others. I called them Marquis, Mark and the Funky Bunch (the other three being the bunch.) Never caught on.
in 20 minutes ran 2.5 miles and did 97 pullups. arms tightened and didn't loosen at all for four days. finally went to the doctor and my cpk was 89,000.
has taken me close to a year to regain all that dead muscle.

Count me in as optimistic about his athleticism.

Jim sees him as a DE for us, Jay sees him as a RB.
Either way he's had a big season on one of the favorites to take class 6 state.
I'm friends with one of his coaches -- they were waiting on the offer since Jay's visit. Kid is beast on a team that has a legit chance to win class 6 state.

They offered 4 years $27 million, he turned it down.
"safer and likely more effective."
I'd like to see some, any, evidence of this statement.
Just because you can't do a handstand pushup with confidence does not speak to their eficacy within a fitness program.
Have fun with your dumbbell curls while standing on a bosu. I hope you don't fall off and roll an ankle.

I think Invictus puts out really high quality programming. This is their fitness track.

Templates for $100 that work every time; all you need is a food scale and compliance.
But pornhub has a great one going today for the mgopervs.
I didn't link directly, but it's safe for work today.
Excellent stuff.

I know that many on here refrain from calling recruits "studs", but I guess when your name is Bob Head, you can do whatever you want.
As I mentioned when he committed, my brother in law was heavily involved in Xavier's recruitment to another school. He's seen him play dozens of games, and says he could play anywhere in the country. Sky is the limit in his opinion.

double post. i guess that means he gets 48 hours?
Is that a non-commitable ultimatum?
Prudential 2 tower, 41st floor. Kept thinking about how eerily similiar the AON Center looked to WTC.
The yogurt partfait in the AON Center was outstanding -- albeit expensive, at $3.61 including tax.

Season opener. First game as a student.

Similarly, I almost always know I'll like a Harvard alum if, when first asked where they went to school, they reply Boston.
If you had any friends, you would understand. Friends joke with one another. "Hey, um, you're poor."
"Well hey, your mom is dead."
That's what friends do.
when one of my roommates from UM got into Harvard Law during senior year, I kept referring to it as Hartford Law and told him he'd have a great time in Connecticut.
Drove him crazy.
Nope. Dick Sklar. Passed away probably 5 years ago. Great guy.
i wanna say class of 93.
i grew up with them just down the street. old family friends.

But I am 36 years old and have never seen a Robin Williams movie or tv show. Not one. I even went through his filmography, but nothing.
Also, I'm not sure I could tell him or an in-his-prime Rowdy Roddy Piper apart in a lineup.
nice reference. great movie. the replies clearly missed it.

And he knew it would light up our message boards. me being the optimist, i assumed it was a commitment for us.
Unfortunately, he doesn't think Michigan has a chance (he said we never did, for what it's worth).
but that's not the surprise.
so that's like finding your christmas gifts beforehand only to get a better one you weren't counting on day of?
was there in the psu student section. arrived to my seat to "assholes" cheer. had a full cup of coke thrown at me (lid on).
then it got quiet. really really quiet.
says not grantham either.
maybe izzo is retiring.
