"When everybody knows how they work, they will cheer and cheer and cheer and cheer."
She was "reading" a book called Let's Go Cubs, a gift from my cousin who lived in Wicker Park at the time. But the words apply darn well to Jordan Morgan. This one's for you, Jordan:
|2 days 20 hours ago||How sad that we'll never know if that's true||
If Izzo's players keep injuring themselves by hitting tables and hardwood floors, the injury-free juggernaut MSU team will remain the fruit just out of Tantalus Izzo's grasp.
|2 days 20 hours ago||I enjoyed his "there will be payback" pledge about our 2nd mtg||
At the time I thought "I hope you get starter minutes in that game, because you suck." A stat line of five minutes and two personal fouls = payback, apparently. Leaving the bench area in that situation was a dopey move. I like it when Sparties live up to stereotypes.

The maize-on-maize look (home vs OSU and MSU last year) was not a good one, it made the text illegible. OSU played along by having a dumb jersey idea of their own, the "BUCKEYES" on everybody's name panel. That's in the same zone as all the guys named Freedom and Service on the AFA football team. But I digress.
The regular maize ones we wore during the tourney last year were tops. That we couldn't get any other uniforms due to a supply issue (lol adidas) was weird but at least they had some of our best-looking unis. I find the replacement of MICHIGAN by WOLVERINES across the front a bit jarring, but otherwise it's okay.

I see what you did there.
|3 days 20 hours ago||The team was looking pretty bad at that point||
on the heels of a disappointing <.500 campaign the year before and they were sitting at 11-5 with only one wins over a good team (at 22-12 Clemson) and headed for 11-9. Then this happened:
|3 days 20 hours ago||That was an epically bad team||
Probably the worst in a long run of disappointing squads. We lost to Penn State twice! Only win in the final 10 games was a win over Iowa at home (we beat them in Iowa City too, they must have been lousy).
It was the 2004-05 team that broke my spirit. I broke a kitchen chair during the 99-68 loss at Georgia Tech. I hung on to that chair for several years before realizing there was no way I could fix it. That team started 12-5 with some very close losses but lost 13 of its final 14 games, most by double digits. At the time of Horton's suspension they were 12-7. The rest of the year was Dion Harris and Dani Wohl running the point with walk-ons getting major minutes at the guard spots.
|3 days 20 hours ago||Mine||
Lavell Blanchard, Bernard Robinson Jr, Chris Hunter, Graham Brown, DeShawn Sims. Particularly Blanchard and Sims as they both were asked to do way too much and you could tell they were trying super hard all the time. I was happy that Sims got to play in the tourney.

Basically everybody picked us third behind MSU and OSU, focused on the losses of Burke and Hardaway, predicted that McGary and Robinson would be the big time players on the team, predicted Gary Harris as POTY, said Nebraska would suck, and some of them put Stauskas on the all-conference third team.
|4 days 8 hours ago||Yep. See how much damage Morgan/Horford can do||
with a couple of athletic wings who can shoot the three. Imagine having to pick between:
1. Doubling Webber and leaving Stauskas/LeVert/Irvin open at the arc, or
2. Having any big man in today's college game defend Webber one-on-one
Heartburn. Sure would be nice to get a VHT big man on the team, maybe we'll get one in the 2015 class.
|4 days 8 hours ago||My memory of this has been shredded.||
404 file not found, aka These are not the droids you are looking for.
|4 days 12 hours ago||The funny thing||
is that last night he basically was just a shooter. Basically the best just a shooter you could imagine. Stat line: 7-9 on threes, 1-2 on twos, 1-2 from the FT line, two defensive rebounds.

I'll grant that men's college players are probably criticized too harshly, given they are young and (usually) having to attend college classes. Commentary on women's sports in general swings far to the other side, with virtually no criticism of players or coaches. Imagine Dick Vitale calling a women's game, it would be sensational.
Next year there will be 15 players on the first team for women's hoops.

We were waiting in line to leave the classroom for lunch when another teacher came and told our teacher what had happened. The explosion happened at 11:38am, so it's possible this was just ~20 minutes later. One of the other sixth grade teachers had been in the running for Teacher in Space so that added to the impact. A very quiet lunch period. My best friend was immersed in Top Gun pilot space camp astronaut flagwaving patriotism at the time so he was particularly subdued.

who is lame?
FWIW I thought Ellen did a fine job.
|6 days 20 hours ago||Katzenmoyer was a dumb brick||
Not much of a seducer either. His MO was to wait by the door at frat parties and ask women "Do you wanna get with the Kat?" This being Columbus I bet it was a good strategy.
|6 days 20 hours ago||Who is we?||
And if so, Meyer's PR machine was declaring OSU to be "Warrior Poet U."
Hyde doesn't need to be smart to meet the expectations of his next job. Of course NFL running backs only last 3-8 years, so by the time he's thirty I hope he has some money saved up.

I don't always worry about things over which I have zero control. But when I do, it's about future Michigan rosters.
Stay thirsty, my friends.
|1 week 2 days ago||Yep, Walton should be the starter||
Maybe saying "we won't be forced to start freshmen" would have been better.
|1 week 2 days ago||Makes sense||
With a bigger body in the middle (be it Doyle, Donnal, or someone else) a 6'7" PF like Boudreaux could excel. I do have unpleasant flashbacks of DeShawn Sims being forced to play center. Ellenson, Boudreaux, and a tallish guard would be great. Any gain for us that also means drinking other Big Ten milkshakes = gold.

If we don't have a bunch of 4+ star guys committed early I wonder why.
|1 week 2 days ago||This assumes Austin Hatch is able to play college basketball||
I am totally inspired by him but it seems a lot to expect him to contribute at a D-I level. He's only played in three games this season for his HS team. I would be thrilled to see him play for us but it seems unrealistic. Does anyone know how his scholarship would work if he didn't join the basketball team his first year? Could he be on a general scholarship (not counting against our 13) and then join the team in a later year? Does signing a LOI rule that out? I'm starting to feel a little like Tom Crean or Nick Saban, oy.
