Welp, this was fun…

Welp, this was fun. Surprised no mention of 2021 MSU - getting Kenneth Walker'd and Macdonald not able to adjust to tempo was brutal, especially being up double digits late in the game. Also, I will always argue that 2018 OSU and giving up a million points after being the favorite is the more painful than even the 2016/2006 games

I'm fully on board and excited for Coach Moore, so folks don't take this question as doubting: other than Freeman at ND has there been a head coach with less overall coordinating experience before? 2 seasons as OC and the resume speaks for itself but just curious

Great video - things that would’ve made it perfect:

- show the whole play all together. I feel like some critical plays spliced in were cut in a weird way where you don’t get the most satisfying parts

- transitions from the choppy replay to normal seemed odd

Yes these are the things I complain about in a national championship offseason, even with no head coach. Life’s not bad, eh

Perfect for my 3 hour drive…

Perfect for my 3 hour drive this evening with the podcast also

Does anyone know if we should expect a similar amount of content as a normal game week with UFR/FFFF? I'm gonna guess yes for FFFF, but doubtful on the UFRs

I was confused as well and…

I was confused as well and it wasn't explained during the broadcast. But the explanation I've read is that after the Corum 1 yard run, Alabama called their final timouet. Then when Michigan was about to take their knee, Michigan called a timeout because they noticed Corum was too far back in the endzone. But JJ snapped it and kneed anyway but technically the knee never occurred. So Michigan goes back out with 2 players immediately behind JJ and then do a normal kneel down and it was still 2nd and 9, confirming the 1st Michigan kneel down did not occur

The funny thing to me is that if you look in the 21 minute ESPN highlight package on youtube, the kneel that never happened is the one they show right before going to OT (not that it matters)

It’s the same shit as the last 2 big ten champ games. I’m sure the coaching staff will prepare the players properly

There’s a small alumni group and as of last year would watch the game at Prytania Bar (dive bar, great bartenders/owner). If you search the alumni club of New Orleans on Facebook you can find the page and contact them to see if they’ll be having a watch party

positives:

We were close to…

positives:

We were close to being in a world with: Henderson, Roman, Barrett our next week with injuries, and also Graham for targeting. We get all of them back next week more than likely

the defensive interior played solidly, and dline pressure came in key moments. But the short passing game allowed Lia to drive methodically.

bad

JJ played horribly. I know UFR waived off Bowling Green but we just have to live with the fact that he gets impatient when the defense drops 7-8 in coverage and doesn’t read the field well. The good thing is that it only happens ~10% of the time…but still.

Outside corners got burned badly multiple times - does not bode well for MHJ. I couldn’t tell if they just benched Wallace for mcburrough with Mike on the outside, or if it was an injury. But Josh Wallace got badly exposed and also missed a few key tackles

Rod Moore has been quite “leaky” with his tackles. I recall a few instances where he basically whiffed

I feel pretty apathetic with…

I feel pretty apathetic with everything going on the last month - i dont think OSU is as good as last year, but going into next week i have a similar feeling as last years game after losing blake/mike morris, game in colombus andd generally JJ not having a good year throwing the deep ball: which is I think UM should be the underdogs (even though they are at home). It was a stinker, but so was Illinois last year (albet to a much better team).

Last year's weakpoints going into OSU were not gameplan altering mismatches. Going into this year with the additional tackle injuries and Barnhart playing horrendously lead me to believe they will decide the game (unlike PSU where UM could run and work around it). Is OSUs dline toughter than when they played ND? If not then UM will win

Special teams delivered 4 direct points (punt block + 1 yr pin down by Doman). I am not sure if not taking the FG attempts was solely due to wind or something to do with Turner's limits. EIther way we're going to need points next week

I was not upset at the coaching and playcalling as I thought I would be after the win. Looking back at it - JJ decision making was legitamately horrendous, and plays that were scripted open like CJs wide open OSU deep post repeat were brilliantly schemed but JJ did not execute.

Love these breakdowns,…

Love these breakdowns, especially after a victory. Are these recorded Sunday or Mondays? If Sundays any chance we can get the OSU game (and hopefully win) released for many of us who are traveling after the Thanksgiving holiday?

it was rod moore who whiffed…

it was rod moore who whiffed not Paige

This is the dumbest thing I…

This is the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard. I hope you don’t actually believe this. Playcalling was simply due to Barnhart getting smoked and the coaches (correctly) realized the only way this game would be lost is with pressure forcing turnovers

This analogy might be off…

This analogy might be off but I’ve always thought the absolute worst case framing of this would be like how a college baseball player who was caught with PEDs: it “benefits” the team during the time he was juicing, the player would ultimately be suspended/banned but I imagine there would never be a thought of punishing the HC/team because of this selfish players actions. Obviously stallions has been punished sufficiently already like a banned player on PEDs. Is my assumption correct the B1G/NCAA would not crack down on a head coach/institution in this scenario? If so, how can this JH punishment be taken seriously

Bet

In all seriousness this…

Bet

In all seriousness this Harbaugh news changes nothing in my mind. Not nervous about the game whatsoever - this team has so many player leaders and the team still has all its goals in front of it. You think ZInter, Corum, JJ, Mikey, Kris, Rod are going to let this team have a let down or be distracted? Nah. Bet

Oof - best defense this team…

Oof - best defense this team has faced since...Iowa last year? Their dline getting pressure/forcing turnovers will be the only way they win this game

The DT Alex mentions with a star doesn't actually have a star in the diagram

I know there's been concern…

I know there's been concern about the run game and lack of effectiveness, but I think even if PSU loads up to stop the run the only way I see PSU winning this game is with turnovers. I have faith when the pocket is kept mostly clean JJ can effectively read the field. The only way PSU wins this is if the OTs play horrendously against PSUs good DEs, or Diaz is able to effectively bring pressure and forces JJ into TCU type ints. Flashbacks to Ryan Hayes giving up a critical 4th quarter sack/fumble that almost lost that 2021 PSU game. If Henderson gets beat consistently then the offense is in trouble. If the OTs perform even average then I think the offense will be able to consistently work its way downfield in chunks

Unless I'm seeing it wrong…

Unless I'm seeing it wrong or the play clip is off - that clip dinging Loveland for his block outside and need to crack the DE looks like 89 Barner no?

It took 2 days for espn to…

It took 2 days for espn to publish anything on it. Yet within hours of social media picking up on this Corum LLC with Stalions it’s front page headline news.

I think it boils down to…

I think it boils down to this: does the big ten think the ncaa has enough to hit him with serious sanctions, even in the most likely outcome that JH was not aware of it going on? For overseeing the program where this rogue stuff was going on. If the big ten is hedging that YES the ncaa is going to hammer Jim anyway even if he didn’t know, they may as well hit him now too. Obviously the right thing to do is wait for the investigation instead of guessing that Jim will be penalized

Surprise surprise - all the…

Surprise surprise - all the insider rumblings and Brian’s post last night were correct, and the WSJ was wrong?! Color me shocked

Given how poorly the…

Given how poorly the Michigan side of this PR campaign has handled things, I’m not going to hold out hope any of this is true or comes to fruition. Hope I’m wrong but this just screams like tid bits we hope are true to swing the narrative, but are probably too good to be true. If they were true this shit should’ve came out weeks ago

If a Harbaugh suspension…

If a Harbaugh suspension comes down hopefully the lawyer types can weigh in on if the injunction/lawsuit against B1G will get in on time for Penn state/osu

I’ve mentioned this before but this team has so many player leaders I honestly don’t think it’ll matter. I’d take this Michigan team without Harbaugh against anyone. Yes they seemed rusty at times coming off the bye week, but this team has got IT. Harbaugh being out won’t matter - maybe make them even more focused/pissed off.

Who becomes head coach? Either Moore or Hart (to keep coordinators focused)?

Maybe I’m in a minority and…

Maybe I’m in a minority and it’s extremely short sighted, but I’m comforted by the report that focused on punishing only harbaugh and not the players/team. Even if Harbaughs suspended I’ll take Michigan against anyone -so many players are elite and leaders i don’t think it would really matter

But the big ten and not the ncaa imposing a show cause or something is absurd without all the facts. If Harbaugh knew and someone can prove it then fine - show us and it’s an open and shut case. These folks as competitors are clearly trying to impose the most damage on an opponent to strengthen their standing in the conference.

So clearly the Big Ten wants…

So clearly the Big Ten wants to cave to the mob mentality - might have been mentioned but why cant the Big Ten commissioner just suspend him? Why does he even need to go to Ono as UM President for permission?

HIlarious scenario: Michigan…

HIlarious scenario: Michigan gets banned from the big ten championship game (since thats the portion that actually impacts the "integrity" of the big ten right? Not the bowl season) CFP puts them in the top 4 anyway, and wins it all

So obviously it’s all…

So obviously it’s all already absurd/hilarious. He was already an idiot, now he might be an idiot who clearly broke rules. By trying to advance his career and give Michigan a leg up he has embarassed and tainted everything the team has accomplished.

On a darker note…it’s just a game with lots of money at stake obviously. With his manifesto he’s going to be despised by everyone who supports Michigan. He’s going to be ostracized and I’m legitimately concerned he’s going to harm himself.

I'll be there - section 106. First true road game I've ever been to, so very excited.

Did anyone else see in the MSU game they ran the same flea flicker and Noah Kim got sacked. I've honestly never seen a sack on that flea flicker but perhaps that sums up the state's year

Gonna be tracking when the…

Gonna be tracking when the FFFF charts add a SHIELD to JJ. Im guessing by big ten play

Do they reset every season?…

Do they reset every season? I’d imagine if you’re a 4 year player and you win 40+ games in that span there’s not enough room for all those stickers…

I know the blog doesnt agree…

I know the blog doesnt agree with PFF O line grades, but from the eye test Myles Hinton does not belong on the football field and this grade shows it. If JJ wasn't as mobile a QB back there is gonna get killed - hope to god he's not the starter and Jones steps up next week

Was hoping this wasn't the…

Was hoping this wasn't the case but kicking is going to be the #1 issue this year and be the most likely culprit for a potential loss. Not offense, defense or coaching. But not having a reliable kicker - that says something about Turner's performance that even with a 50 yard BOMB of a kick, his XPs were so wobbly no one feels good about him right now.

I know it’s just a song but…

I know it’s just a song but the fact they are essentially planning on cheating on each other, and when they see what’s happening they just laugh it off and go back to normal life…never made sense

They were a really good run…

They were a really good run team the last few years with Mo Ibrahim and co, and if yesterdays Nebraska game is any indication their Oline is trash and can’t run for shit

For the football minds: In…

For the football minds: In that illinois fake screen/dropped pass, is Rod Moore really expected to recognize the fake screen and come off his man and chase the deep threat? It looks like the outside corner bites hard on the fake screen and is really the culprit on that blown coverage.

Great content - thank you to Alex, Seth and Brian

Just a tip the below code makes it from $6/month to $2.50/month. I just did it for the football season

So who gets play calling…

So who gets play calling duties? I assume minter will keep defense even throughout his HC game, but what about offense game 1 with Moore out?

I think that Edwards double…

I think that Edwards double pass really capped the Big Ten Championship so deserves be up there. Yes I understand it wasn't as crucial of a play in terms of do-or-die, win-or-lose, but for me it was the final coronation of the first conference title in two decades. Compared to the Illinois game which was tight and competetive, but if they lose that game they still win any tiebreakers (throwing aside emotional blah blah of not being able to beat OSU after a loss like that)

Genuine question as I don't follow the insider whispers too much - What has Balas been wrong about before? I specifically remember this blog calling him out as unreliable when he heard Sainristil was moving to defense, and yet here we are praising him as the best Nickel in the conference
