Glad to hear there's atleast a handful of fans who feel the way I do.
Keep the faith.

trey : spike :: stauskas : robinson
the complicating factor is the whole vague references to d1 offers he turned down.
i wish they would have named names.
i dont know how meaningful it is, we talking the likes of portland state and iupui or what?
|15 weeks 3 days ago||My guess....||
My guess is that 90 pct of Mgoblog users want to read or write about michigan football.
did you expect the team to receive a win for you visiting the site?

For me, I'm not purchasing HTTV this year because I think the blog has cannibalized the content that HTTV would normally contain.
With each year, the amount of new content on this blog has increased (as has my year round viewership of it) and by the time HTTV rolls around, I feel like it's predominately a printed (and repurposed) export of the blog with just a sprinkling of brand new ideas / pieces.
I should clarify that last year was the first time I had this feeling and this year will be the first time I'm not purchasing HTTV (won't stop me from dropping some coins into beveled guilt).
My father, who does not read MGOblog (or the internet in general) would be thrilled with HTTV as it truly does destory all other "preview" publications and he has no access to the content otherwise.
Just my thoughts. Niether team performance nor alleged bullying from Brian (or whatever the claims) play into my decision at all.

|31 weeks 5 days ago||My take||
I think the greater point being communicated by Colter and his specific movement is that, these kids are being recruited to attend an institution of higher learning and then are locked into strict contracts of their coaches exacting standards, which leaves them no choice but to compromise the very education they came for, lest they get their scholarship pulled. And they have absolutely no seat at the table or member representation with the NCAA or the schools themselves.
They seek to be represented.
Even above and beyond that is the millions of dollars everyone in charge of "looking out for the kids" is making in this rigged game. The kids should be able to organize and represent themselves.
Where do I draw the line? Today? Men's Football and Men's Basketball. Women's Basbetball might not be there yet and honestly, I don't know enough about other sports

I'm a whole lot less worried about a recruit reading BBrown's analysis of their interaction than I am a recruit reading the thousands of comments throwing our players, coaches, and administration under the bus, talking about pulling all support of the program, and the regular demands that we "fire e'rybody".
But that's just me, guy who thought we all learned something about public perception and showing a unified front of support for the program after the RR debacle..........

I agree that there is a bit of an issue with the quantity of content and how to best manage it all.
My thought is for some sort of personalization (dashboard?) that would show a listing of "unread" things, things that you've commented on that have replies, etc.

I couldn't believe I made it so far down this thread without anyone pointing out how insane that clip is. The timing on him popping up is better than anything that could even be scripted.
This clip is going to get chopped up and will be everywhere within a few days. Denard is making his rounds on the viral circuit lately.
Also yes, I now cheer for the Jaguars?

|1 year 30 weeks ago||I agree but that's not the point.....||
I agree that saying "don't rock the boat" is condoning bigotry but that was not the point of my post at all and if your Rosa Parks joke is at my expense then you missed my entire point.
There is a difference between making commentary on the current state of affairs and endorsing the status quo. My post makes no reference to reinforcing the current culture of bigotry in the NFL.
What my post is saying, is that because there is a culture of bigotry it would make sense that when gay players do start coming out, team chemistry may take a hit as the lockerrom could be split.
Personally, I welcome the day where people don't have to put up a front because a portion of our population can't identify or understand their experience and has to resort to fear and hatred.
|1 year 30 weeks ago||BiSB you are correct but so is ijohnb||
BiSB, your points are absolutely correct but I think you are misinterpreting ijohnb's point.
I think the statement is "I am not conding bigotry, I am merely acknowledging its existence and the reality that it would impact the dynamic of the team. It would likely cause a rift amongst the homophobics and the non-homophobics (which is exactly what happened with racist whites and non-racist whites during integration in baseball and the movie Remember the Titans starring Denzel Washington). This statement should not be interpreted as my opinion on whether gays should be in the NFL or out while in the NFL or anything of the like."
ijohnb even mentions that he is talking about reality, not necessarily the way things are:
"I am not talking what should be. I am talking what is."
Just to put it out there, no, I have no dog in this fight (zing, but that's because niether one of you are making negative statements, unless I totally invented my own interpretation of ijohnb).

Despite being on the ballot, Oregon did not legalize marijuana in 2012.
Colorado and Washington did but Oregon voted it down by like 4%.
I know, it doesn't make sense to me either.

|1 year 40 weeks ago||There is a steroids problem in high school...........||
There is a steroids problem in high school sports (not just football) so I only imagine by the time you get to major D1 and then professional level, the usage rate is in the 80% or higher range.
I might be naive but I sort of assumed that anyone who watches major sports expects nearly every athlete to be using some form of steroids / growth hormone to compete at the level society desires.
If steroid use was rampant in baseball, a sport where the performance increase isn't going to be as extreme as football, then how can you honestly watch the NFL and not expect the same?
Maybe most folks are just operating under willful ignorance?

I went to RIT and for my program (Computer Engineering) we had to essentially have 1 year of work experience before I could graduate.
My first internship was writing software for Office of Naval Research in Panama City, FL and it was pretty much one of those "set you in the corner and we'll see you when you're done" kind of things. I didn't have any mentor, nobody really interacted with me and I just flailed around making tons of mistakes but did finish my assignment before all was said and done. Learned a lot about how to help myself and got to see what government work was like.
My second internship was for 6 months writing software for a "design shop" in Rochester, NY and it was a little more structured. I actually had someone who would review my code and let me know what was wrong with it or why I should do something a different way. It gave me an idea of what the environment is like when your software is the product you sell.
My third internship was for 6 months writing software at Intel out in Hillsboro, OR and it was the best of all my internships. I had a phenomenal manager who really helped paint a picture of how things in IT work and while I didn't really have anyone giving me tips on my code, I got a lot of value out of understanding organizationally how things fit together.
So, between all three of those experiences, I had a pretty good idea of what I was looking for in a full time gig and what type of company I really fit in with. Ultimately, I think my internships were the most valuable parts of my education and put me above a lot of smarter but less experienced people when it came time to landing a full time job (not to mention all the interviewing I had to do along the way).

It caught me by suprise today when I noticed that Boubacar Cissoko plays for the Chicago Rush of the Arena Football League.
It's nice to see he's landed on his feet, or at least seems to be doing better than Tate.

The OSU story shows that there are insane people out there, I'd hate to see more recruits meet them.
|2 years 18 weeks ago||Woooooooo RIT||
I can't be the only non-Michigan attending RIT alum who loves Michigan on this site, right?
Well, either way, I never expected this to be a conflict of interest, even in 2010 when RIT was on fire but finally I get to see UM and RIT head to head!
RIT will probably get trounced but this is such a great win just to get UM on the schedule, especially when we were DIII just about 6 years ago.
Fun times for the Tigers!
