Where do you work

It depends on where you work and how long of a drive your willing to endure. Novi and northville are good established communities with great schools, but 200k won't get you that much, canton and Plymouth are nice and a step down from novi and northville, but you can find something for 200k, you should stay north of ford road. South lyon is up and coming, but there's not to much there to do and if you work in Troy the commute would be rough. I bought a house about 1.5 years ago and from what I read Farmington is going in the wrong direction, but is still a nice community. If you want to check the affluence of an area check the school districts. even though some may be rated highly now they could be going in the wrong direction....good luck.

Gedeon

Would be surprised if either of our lb's were looking around

Define great

Please define great with an example...it's easy to judge by our own rational, but by yours no one has been great other than kovacs

I'm outside of Sao Paulo

My iphone still has everything in English...

More importantly I'm worried about Lewan leaving early to, but I'm guessing Kali's might get a shot first.

national recruit

Its no a question whether or not he has an interest in Sparty, but whether sparty has an interest in him...you know they recruit nationally now!

who cares

Who cares how the O$U fans react, today is about a michigan win!  Lets appreciate that, not the meltdown of our oppenent.

TKovacs

Kovacs looked like a 5 star recruit today, in the right spot, making the right plays...Herron might get most of the TV time, but Kovacs made the big plays.

To be honest I've never been a big fan of Kovacs, but today he made me a believer.

Dunn in Columbus

Per TomVH, Dunn will be in Columbus Thursday or Friday and his Dad clarified he has not decommitted.

never heard of him

Part of that national recruiting approach Dantonio has since he had since MSU's 5th consecutive bowl game loss...

tomorrow

I plan on spending today making plans for tomorrow...

title

title is misleading, but only to someone who wanted to see a commitment post.  I'll trust to great defensive coordinators to judge wether or not RJS is worthy of an offer this early in the process.

Plus you have to love to see him recruiting michigan players.

TE

I don't think many TE's were on Michigan's radar before Hoke.

I know you asked who would it

I know you asked who would it be, but I think I'd rather say who deserves it...Novak!

hands

I think Hemingway has great hands and understanding of positioning for deep balls...as far as a burner he's not that guy, but his shiftiness is suprising.  He's easily turning into one of my favorite receivers.

Bad joke

If you watched the game on TV you might have noticed this...about 5 or 6 UMass players grew up UofM fans and had an opportunity to live their dream playing in Michigan stadium.

Would have meant more if we blown them out, but still entertaining.

Defense

IMHO, what happened is that after Uconn and ND we had expectations...we thought our D was serviceable.  We forgot about the actual condition of the D, starting RS Freshman, a walk-on and converted WR's.  While this game wasn't our best showing, the sky isn't falling.  I am concerned that the more games we play the easier it will be for other teams to find our holes...which are numerous.

With D. Rob I think we can be competitive in most of our games...but until we gain experience and get a defensive team which is mainly led by Jr and Sr we will have this uneasiness...unfortunately I don't see that happening this year.

S. Brown

How is S. Brown left out of the #2 defensive player from last years squad...he played well enough to get drafted...

As far as this year below is my top 5

1) martin - hard to argue this one

2) Van Bergen - it will help that he's playing on the DL with Martin.  He's not the most talented player, but he'll never give up.

3) Roh - He was a good pash rusher as a true freshman, but to be considered to be in the top 2 he'd have to improve his pass rushing skills and be more of an all around player.  Should help that our DL is solid this year.

4) Woolfork - He's a best player in the secondary, my only concern will be him against the #1 WR's on other teams...

5) Mouton? - Gets a litte sketchy here, this is more of a hope than reality...just depends if our LB's are allowed to attack or react.

S. Brown

I'm hoping he becomes the next S. Brown, lost for a bit, but once they found the right position for him he turned into one of our better players on D.

Vlad

I know Vlads injury was over 2 years ago, but I was wondering if he is a 100%.  I'm still a little confused as to why RR burned his RS last year knowing that his knee wasn't ready.   I'm still optimistic that Vlad can become the player he was projected to be before blowing out his ACL...he was offered by some of the top schools in the country.

Turner - CB

Turner will start out as a CB and depending on how Avery, Talbott and Christian develop will determine where he will play.  He'll only be a RS freshman this year.  The main problem with our secondary is the lack of upperclassmen, as has already been pointed out.  I believe RR has been recruiting enough CB in hopes of improving the situation, in 2 years, but for now we can only hope that our current players 1 don't get injured and 2 improve from last year (Floyd and Woolfork).

Correct me if I'm wrong, and I'm sure someone will...but in the 3-3-5 cover skills aren't as important as diagnosing the play and being in the right position becuase of that a player such as Christian and Turner who may not have game changing speed can play CB and excel.

The next Gold?

great to see him get drafted after a good senior year...not really sure where he fits in the NFL. I guess Gold made it as a small LB, so could Brown.

class change?

Why do people think there will be 4-5 changes. I think RR has made a point to recruit guys who won't waiver on their commitment like last year going as far as not letting them commit until they visit UofM. I'm not saying there won't be a decommit, I just don't think it will be as prominent as last year.

It has also been clarified to Hankins that there is only one more spot. It seems as if RR is willing to take the best player available at a position of need (MLB, DL or OL) as can be seen by his most recent recruiting (Taylor, Black, Donnal...etc.)

I also believe that RR has realized how much each move he does is scrutinized, so he will refrain from having a Peace situation. Overall I think there will only be one to two more players added that we don't expect, depending on what happenes with Parker. Hopefully he does choose UofM over USC.

internet rumor

This seems like an internet rumor that UofM fans just seem way to happy to jump on, below are some points that were brought up on a MSU board:

In the past week.

-Dantonio went to his "Dream Team" ceremony and was with him most of the night, many pictures of them.

-Went to a Basketball game and sat next to Dantonio and I think Greg Jones. Was decked out in State gear.

-Don't remember what medium it was, but told the press (paraphrasing) that he is definitely going to Michigan State.

Magnus

I guess it somewhat of a moot point since he's looking to move on, but I where he is on the depth chart is expected because of the aformentioned reasons.

Mainly my disappointment comes from the fact that in the last year more than any that I've known, there has been a lot of emphasis put on the fact that we don't have junior or senior players on the field and have a lot of younger players starting, which leads to part of our inept defense. If we want to turn it around players such as B. Smith need to stick around and develop. If people continue to transfer because they aren't on the 2 deep then we will have the same conversation about young players in 2 years.

Cassel

How many Cassel's have they had though? For all the top recruits they've had you'd expect to hear about more than just 1. I wonder how many Cassel type players didn't develop because of lack of playing.

USC safety recruiting

Did anyone notice that in 2009 USC recruiting 4 safteys, the #2, #4, #5 & #6 safeties overall...I know they can recruit, but sometimes its just sick. This year they have the #1 & #2 WR's (per scout)

I'm guessing thats why some guys are looking away, there's a difference between competition and trying to beat out 1st round NFL picks every years. Guys who could be NFL players will never get a chance to develop because they won't see the field.

1 year

was he really expected to beat out Leach or Demens in his RS Freshman year in the first year at the position?

I'm still optimistice that by his junior year he develop into a starter, especially given the condition of our LB corp.

I'm also disappointed that 3 of our top 4 recruits (per scout) from the 2008 class have or are planning to transfer (Boo boo, Smith and McGuffie)

B. Smith

I don't see how he doesn't fit into Gerg's D? Can someone please explain it to me? As far as his athletic traits go he seems to have the skills to fit in any D as long as he's willing to move to the best position to fit his skill set. I think thats the issue. He sees himself as a safety and the coaches see him as a LB or Hybrid LB/S.

Hankins is not the same

The only thing they have in common is being excited about their last visit and they are DL...after that their situations are completely different.

Big Will committed to UofM and then decided to take visits to other schools

Hankins had to wait to his senior year to get an offer.

Big Will was a consensus 5* and had early offers from everyone in the country

Hankins had some decent offers, but had to prove himself

Big Will has and always will be Blue.

Hankins is making his decision soon

If anything Big Will was like Marcus Hall...

Cam Gordon

As far as internet rumors go didn't Cam decid to move to D after seeing all the depth at WR?

I think I saw it on GBMW.

TomVH

TomVH should also be in that sentence...

Talbott

Isn't Talbott (DT) looking around still? If so that leaves another 2 openings (his brother also).

Point is that alot can happen before signing day and I think RR is doing a great job making sure he has the best class possible.

commits

Right now there are 2 guys who might have trouble qualitying (Kindard and Drake) and there's always a chance of a decommit. Personally I just think that they are recruiting until the end becuase nothing is guarenteed until the LOI is signed.

I don't believe it is the RR is going to squeeze a guy out approace. I believe the coaching staff has made a point to recruit players who wouldn't decommit, so why would they force someone out?

Regardless, if we have 2 guys who don't qualify, that leaves us with 5 open spots and therefore we have a recruit more players.

Rumor

Send it to

or my other address

O$[email protected]

I promise not share it with anyone else or spread it on any other boards...thanks.

Barr

What about A. Barr, I know he was supposed to be a ND lock because of family ties (I think), but does this move UofM back in the picture?

I know he's not a commit, but the turmoil could cause him to look elsewhere.

we might not feel that great

we might not feel that great about some of the prospects we have left. I'm starting to notice that RR is a big bird in the hand guy...

knowledge of the game

I'm guessing that these elite high school athletes have never had too understand the game, but could simply let their athletic abilities take over for their lack of understanding of the game, where as the walk on players have had to overcome their lack of athletic ability through a better understanding of the game. This may be the reason that walk on players have moved ahead of more atheletic players

I also think a position switch such as QB/Safety to LB may be dramatic enough that some of these players have to learn more.

Regardless I think long term players such as Fitzgerald, Smith, Vlad, Big Will and Demens will contribute in a bigger way, it just may take more time.

Big Will

This is exactly what I remember seeing, he was blown off the ball and was in on the long runs, I don't remember how much of an effect he had on that, but I do remember after about 3-4 plays they put Martin back in.

I just think Big Will has to learn the proper technique, he has the size. Martin seemed much better suited to play right away out of high school.

thanks

thanks quakk, I'll give it a shot!

japan

I'm in japan for work and I've already been denied by justintv, I'd rather not wait until the game starts to check to see if these sites work, does anyone know if some of these sites are blocked from out of country viewing?

Vlad

Vlad was going to OSU...

I wonder how excited Barr is about ND after watching them lose to UofM and with the prospect of Weis being fired at the end of the year.

last season

If last season taught us nothing, it's that we can't look past anyone just yet...we still have a freshman starting QB.

while I think we win, I want to see UofM destroy them, reestablish themselves as a dominant team and leave now doubt that we are back.

Syracuse...

I think people are leaving out the fact that our D coordinator was the head coach of a team that had the monumental upset of ND last year (Syracuse)...that if nothing else should help us out.

As far as ND's D, it should be improve greatly with GT old D coordinator (Tenaua???). I can't breakdown the positions, but I don't think the seconadry will matter as much as the front 7 against UofM. If we can win in the trenches we have a good chance to win the game.

Claussen did get rattled his freshman and sophomore year, but he's a junior now and it's expected he develop and not get rattled so easily. I'm hoping Graham and Martin can rattle him at least one more time.

Overall I think we'll see an improved ND team from last year, but we'll also see a greatly improved UofM team. If UofM can win this everyone will believe they have finally turned the corner from the 3-9 season and Weiss will be getting his walking papers before the end of the season, IMHO.

Bull rush

A true freshman was bull rushing their offensive line...he isn't even known for his power, after seeing that you realize this guy has a chance to be special.

position switch / redshirt

I don't think D-Rob can do either. Our depth at QB will not allow it. As we saw last year and will learn, if you a have a running QB the chances for injuries increase, therefore you need more than 2 competent QB's to ensure a good season. If Forcier goes down we have D-Rob. We all know what Sheridan is, do any michigan fans feel this guy can get us to a bowl game?

So my point is, I can't see D-Rob redshirting or switching positions until Gardner and Jones come in and that is at the earliest. The only way he switches is assuming he just doesn't fit the mold of a RR QB, which I don't think can be said at this point.

Regardless I look forward to some solid QB competition in the future!!!!

4*

I doubt we're going after him, too many stars.

Gholston

Gholston is a great athlete, but not a great player...yet. He recently got owned at a camp by a nobody from michigan can't remember his name (think it's Kruse or something like that). He didn't even have a page on Rivals before the camp, but I think he has one after.

Point is that Gholston hasn't touched his football potential and still needs a lot of work to reach the level. Long run hard work just as much as ability will decide who the best player in the state was.

camps

don't alot of players make a name for themselves at summer camps, but he's not attending them? This gives Scout and Rivals less of a chance to evaluate him, which will most likely leave him at a 3* rankings.
