He's also estimated to have…

He's also estimated to have made $20-30m per year in endorsements, not to mention his $30M salary last year. So likely more than enough in his bank accounts to be able to have someone steal that money or more than enough to cover a $4.5M gambling debt

$10k transactions are…

$10k transactions are reported by the banks, not by Ohtanis financial team so that fact would not necessarily alert anyone.
frankly Stuff like this happens all the time and goes undiscovered for years (source: I do forensic investigations include fraud for a living). for you and me $4.5m seems like a lot to go missing but considering how much money he has and how much movement there likely is (agents, managers, taxes, staff, planes, homes etc) it is not much of a leap to see how it may happen. So I can easily see this going undetected and the actions of a rogue employee heavily in debt.

That being said, it can also be a cover up. Just not a lot known at this time.

Firing Juwan was a huge…

Firing Juwan was a huge mistake and I don't understand why people don't realize that.

Agreed. We couldve delayed the inevitable firing and rebuild one more year in the hopes of squeezing out 1-2 more wins next year and finishing 6-26

MSU seems to really figured…

MSU seems to really figured out how to work the NET rankings. 19-14 overall and 3-9 vs the best teams they played yet ranked in the mid-20s is a joke.

Perhaps you shouldn’t get punished for losing to top teams but your likewise shouldn’t get a benefit from losing to them. Anyway you look at it, going 3-9 vs the top teams and 6-5 against the meh teams is not a tourney team resume for any neutral observer

I’m not advocating for re…

I’m not advocating for re-hiring Juwan!  Yes, Juwan failed miserably but I’d also argue not winning one tournament game and missing the tourney twice in five seasons at Texas (excl COVID year) is nearly as bad.

Sorry - the last bullet…

Sorry - the last bullet should’ve read “first weekend of the tournament since 2011,” not first round. My apologies Mr Smart

Ah yes, let’s hire the guy…

Ah yes, let’s hire the guy who is still riding his teams’ one good tournament appearance that happened 13 years ago.

Lets hire the guy who failed miserably at his last P5 school.

Let hire the coach that has won exactly one tournament game in 12 years.

lets hire the coach that has won 80% fewer tournament games than Juwan Howard during the same time period. Let’s hire the coach that has half as many Elite Eight appearances than Juwan Howard despite being a head coach for 10 more years.

Let’s hope that after locking in his third straight tournament appearance at Marquette he’ll finally make it out of the first round of the tournament for the first time since 2011

Considering who Howard is, I…

Considering who Howard is, I can’t imagine they would try to fire him for cause and avoiding paying him just for the message it sends to a revered former player and member of the fab five. Perhaps it is cover to push back on alumni/donors who aren’t yet swayed by the miserable record and godawful basketball being played and they can say “see it’s bigger than just our record”

Goddamn when will this stop…

Goddamn when will this stop. Nothing short of Michigan being promoted to the NFL was keeping Harbaugh here. No matter how many time people say it, Warde had as much to do as Harbaugh leaving as I did and I'm a fucking nobody.

So keep riding your fucking magical unicorn to Cloud Cuckoo Land and believing that Harbaugh was desperate to stay but Warde pushed him out. You would think three years of JH all but begging to get an NFL job would finally get through to you but guess not..

Pretty sure we need a…

Pretty sure we need a started for every position and depth, as well. Good shooters, lock down defenders, PGs - all areas of need

I'm also not sold that Reed will ever been worth of starter minutes at C. Way too foul prone (and not even good fouls - stupid fouls 30 ft from the basket), terrible hands, etc

If you are mixing something…

If you are mixing something into the ground beef, it might be good but you are not eating a burger. This is a hill I will die on.

Give him a break. Between…

Give him a break. Between onion soup packs and breadcrumbs, he’s making a meatloaf but doesn’t even know it.

Thought getting blown out…

Thought getting blown out and giving up 80 to Rutgers(!) was bad. Getting blown out by 30 to a team that fired their coach might’ve one upped that in futility

Use a chimney starter, not…

Use a chimney starter, not lighter fluid

make sure coals are fully lit before cooking.

keep a cool zone as not everything needs to  or should be cooked over an inferno

use an instant read thermometer.

Please keep pouring it on…

Please keep pouring it on OSU. After blow out after blow out after blow out, each one more embarrassing than the last, how can you possibly keep Juwan?

If Juwan stays, who is going…

If Juwan stays, who is going to be on the team next year? Seems like most of the minutes and points are gone through graduation/eligibility or likely attrition (Dug?).  Another year of misfit parts

If we bring him back next…

If we bring him back next year, I'm not sure we'll even have a full team. Not real hard to see that as it looks right now, next year's team is likely to be even worse. Crisler will be empty, we'll be bottom of the barrel big ten and no way will anyone with other options want to come in and play for this corpse of a program. If you let a coach take a team from being one of top of the conference team when he came in to literally bottoming out as bad as possible and let him continue - that says alot about your judgment

Honestly, if Howard comes…

Honestly, if Howard comes back next year, prepare to see an empty Crisler. We look like we don't belong on the same court as Rutgers.  Fucking embarrassing performance after embarrassing performance.  Making the worst offense in the NCAA look like the prime Golden State Warriors

Hey, at least he got a shot…

Hey, at least he got a shot off.

We’ve finally hit rock…

We’ve finally hit rock bottom. Our D is so bad, Rutgers offense looks unstoppable

Fuck ND. They overplayed…

Fuck ND. They overplayed their hand years ago and should go down with the ship. The SEC and the Big Ten = Legitimacy.

The ACC was always the 3rd or 4th fiddle at best... They are basically a slightly stronger Big Ten West. The NCAA is a relic of the past and honestly, going in a different direction will be a benefit for all the schools that choose to do it. The NCAA can still manage the leftovers but not sure why any big conference is still tied to them

Days 1-3 on a snowboard SUCK…

Days 1-3 on a snowboard SUCK. Sore butt, really sore forearms, tired legs. Falling a lot but if you are used to that way of riding from skateboarding/surfing, after day 2 or 3 it should click and you can hold your own. At least that’s what happens for me.

I started snowboarding at age ~22 and didn’t grow up skiing so might’ve been easier to pick up thank someone that had to forget how to ski. One thing I found easier when learning was to go on real runs and not stay on the bunny hill. It’s harder to snowboard on a flatter run than a regular trail.

id recommend a group lesson the first day or first half day and then figure it out from there. Once you get your legs under you and know the basics then a private lesson might make more sense

as a 40+ yr old now, stretch before, stretch after, hell stretch during (esp forearms!). And take a nice long soak after the day is done - you’ll have earned it.

You also hear a decent…

You also hear a decent amount of players who do not spend any of their contract and only live off endorsement money.

Sadly, I'm guessing a lot of the former players that lost all their money didn't blow all their money on ridiculous discretionary spending, but more likely were taken advantage of and lost it through unwise investments or outright theft/fraud

To name a few:

Harbaugh had…

To name a few:

Harbaugh had a long track record of success at every single place he coached. This is Juwan's first head coaching job.

Outside of the COVID year, Harbaugh's teams weren't bad rather they did not meet expectations and failed against our rivals. In 2019, they were 9-3 with losses to Wisco, PSU and OSU. And to essentially be James Franklin, he was one of the highest paid coaches in the country. That is where most of the noise came from - paying all this money to not be able to beat (or even compete) with OSU and only win the games against lessor teams and not upset anyone better.

Michigan basketball didn't make the NCAA tournament last year and cratered this year. The issues that were apparent last year (e.g., choking at the end of games) are the same issues that are still there this year.

unclear rotations

Except…

unclear rotations

Except his auto-2nd team line-up rotation from the 12 to 8 min mark in the 2nd half when the other team inevitably goes on a 20-0 run

Two things jump out to me. …

Two things jump out to me.  1 - Juwan is not checked out.  He is taking this losing personally and it is not rolling off his back, and 2 - Juwan genuinely feels like there is a lack of true effort from the players themselves in terms of effort and pride.

1. Ah yes, Juwan bucking the trend and taking it personally vs. the more common press conference reaction of 'meh'

2. If Juwan either believes or blames the performance due to a lack of effort and team pride, that is a bigger indictment on him as a head coach vs. admitting he hasn't been able to come up with an adequate game plan or scheme.

Frankly, if you are persuaded by one press conference vs. the last few years of decline in the program, I don't know what to tell you.

I wish it was different but he seems to be a carbon copy of Brady Hoke's tenure - Peak in year 1/2 with players recruited by the former coach and then slowly get worse as the years go on. This team looks like they've never practiced or learned the fundamentals of basketball. Of the ~20 turnovers against MSU, almost all of them weren't due to great D on MSU, they were just horrible plays by a team that has no clue what they are doing. That is on Howard

And time to turn the game…

And time to turn the game off. Never seen such a poorly coached team. This team never fails to shoot itself in the dick repeatedly.

Have we gotten more than 2 shots off in the last 10 possessions.

Agreed. I'm not sure how you…

Agreed. I'm not sure how you can bring him back after the last two seasons when they don't look like they've received any coaching whatsoever. It is sort of like Brady Hoke. Started off strong and then just got worse and worse as the years went on.. and I don't see any scenario where next year is much better.

I'm sure they can come up with a solution - due to his health issues, he needs to step away or cannot commit the time needed to coach the team, etc. But bringing him back when next year is likely to be just as bad is just making everything worse

Yes, you don't want to annoy…

Yes, you don't want to annoy or set off an important group of past players, but if Warde has decided it's time to move on, letting Juwan Howard be a 2 season lame duck HC will push the program back at least 3-4 years.

Who would sign onto a program where the coach is a dead man walking who will be given his walking papers within two season, so recruiting will dry up more than it already has and good luck getting transfers to play, if you can even get them past admissions, for the same reason. If they bring him back next year and it goes as expected and Warde doesn't give him a new contract, that 2025-2026 season may be one for the ages (and not in a good way)

Not sure why I’m watching…

Not sure why I’m watching. 5th grade rec teams have more cohesive offensive sets and play better defense

FGs are fine. I still think…

FGs are fine. I still think the idea of an XP is beyond stupid. You score a TD and then have to kick from an arbitrary spot to get all the points?  Imagine in basketball if you score a basket, get one point and then play stops and you have to go to the FT line to get the 2nd point.  Just make a TD seven points and move on.

Um, that's the whole point…

Um, that's the whole point of a buyout.

Pretty decorate?  Guy had…

Pretty decorated?  Guy had one good year at VCU and a whole lot of nothing in the 10+ years since.
Not only has he not made it past the opening weekend in the tournament since that one good year, but he has one tournament win total in the past 10 years

Yeah let’s hired the guy who…

Yeah let’s hired the guy who failed miserably at his prior big time job.

We’re going to lose…

We’re going to lose. Hopefully if that happens the Howard experiment will be over. Embarrassing across the board

After this many years, how…

After this many years, how bad could someone be in an interview?

I know he had to get out from under Andy Reid's shadow to prove that he could lead the offense but didn't exactly blow things out of the water in Washington. Why he would've picked Washington in the first place is another question of his decision making being they had a coach on the hot seat and a dearth of QBs on the roster

Belichick has not really…

Belichick has not really acquitted himself well to the post-Brady era and reportedly has a very high asking price, both in $$ and control. Not surprising he didn't get a job

He had one good tourney run…

He had one good tourney run at VCU but pretty much topped out as getting a tourney bid but not making it past the first round. Failed miserably at UT and is doing ok at Marquette.

His teams have won one NCAA tournament game since 2013. Not sure I’d put him on a short list for a power conference job at this point.

Shaka Smart???? …

Shaka Smart????  HAHAHAHAHAHA good one

Its all of the above. Roster…

Its all of the above. Roster construction, coaching, development, etc. Yes, you can be surprised by departures or admission denials but if you don't have a plausible, if not ideal, plan B, that is on the coach.

I know the potential to turn around a basketball team in one year is much easier than football as it only takes 1 or 2 players to make an impact but I don't see any light ahead for this team. Last years team was bad and this year's team is awful and we lose pretty much most of our contributors outside of Dug - and thats before any unexpected attrition

Because he’s not Nick…

Because he’s not Nick Fucking Saban or Kirby Smart.  The warde hate is making people irrational

And my contention is like…

And my contention is like Harbaugh, practically nothing was going to keep Minter at Michigan. (Just like Beilein)

Frankly I don’t give two shits about Warde and think he likely should be fired for reasons outside of Harbaugh. But the mob that thinks he’s to blame for everything up to and including the weather is acting hysterical.

Or maybe everyone that…

Or maybe everyone that already hates Warde with the passion of 1,000 burning fires is out there seeking confirmation bias.

I don't know what's accurate or not but if its true that the highest paid S&C coach in NCAA just asked for a huge (3x?) raise and a 10 year contract, I don't care how much you like him, that is ridiculous.

Believe it or not but there is a finite amount of money and paying $3M per year for your S&C coach (50% more than the highest paid coordinator in NCAA) may not be the best allocation of funds

If you have a chance to jump…

If you have a chance to jump in and hire him before Troy gets him, you gotta go for it.

 Cut Jim's contract in half…

Cut Jim's contract in half in humiliating fashion.

Major revisionist history. Half the fans wanted Harbaugh fired and were pissed he got a new contract. He was one of the highest paid coaches and was known for not beating our rivals, getting blown out by OSU, not winning the Big Ten East, let alone not sniffing the playoffs and not developing QBs. At that point, he was a lesser Franklin. So lets not pretend it was not warranted at the time

Obviously Harbaugh turned it around but lets not act like he was Nick Saban for his entire career. Once he turned it around, his itch for the NFL, plus their interest in him, started again.

You are just ignoring the…

You are just ignoring the elephant in the room - Money contract language, indemnity language is not the NFL and wouldn't have done shit.

Whether it was a big smokescreen or just fallback in case NFL options fell through, nothing was keeping Harbaugh at Michigan if he got an NFL offer he wanted. He not only telegraphed it for three years but was practically out the door two years ago and you are naive or fan-blined to not see that and want to keep acting like he's some jilted lover that made a hasty decision because he didn't feel loved

Ah yes, lets ignore Harbaugh…

Ah yes, lets ignore Harbaugh's years of flirting with the NFL because Warde went to a Dolphins game. DO you realize how moronic you sound

Jesus fucking christ - still…

Jesus fucking christ - still with this shit. Whatever you think of Warde, his role in Harbaugh leaving was less than 0

You are like an RCMB poster…

You are like an RCMB poster who thinks they can and should just hire Urban Meyer

Jesus fucking Christ. It was…

Jesus fucking Christ. It was clear to anyone without maize colored glasses or full on vitriol for Warde that there was a 95% chance Harbaugh was going to the NFL. He was out the door two years ago and it took a complete misunderstanding for him to return.

Warde could’ve given him full immunity, named the stadium after him and guaranteed his kids full scholarship and it wouldn’t have done shit cause it’s not the NFL and he can’t win a Super Bowl here
