Agree with all the above and…

Agree with all the above and one more point:  The last three years have been the first that Harbaugh has had an NFL quality QB and shows the importance of that position. We can’t appreciate enough how much McCarthy has meant to these teams.

Also I read Day consoled Zinter’s parents after the injury.  I think that says something good about the man and despite his “hang a hundred” hubris a few years ago, he certainly doesn’t deserve the invective he is getting now from the buckeye nation.

One more win and we crown a…

One more win and we crown a new John Cooper.

Hail to the king baby!

Either the buck stops here…

Either the buck stops here or this is the first crack in the dam.  So either Partridge is Truman or Harbaugh is Nixon.  Either way it’s a disaster.

15 years ago Rich Rod was…

15 years ago Rich Rod was under contract at WVa and we stole himaway and it was a little slippery.

Then a few years later Hoke exited after the concussiongate cloud. as did Dave Brandon and all his sleazy marketing shit.

then a couple years ago our basketball coach assaulted an opposing team coach in their arena and he kept his job which felt pretty shady

then our hockey coach got involved in some kind of inexcusable sexual harassment scandal and our AD more or less ignore it until he was backed into a corner and had to let him go and that felt pretty sleazy

then Harbaugh didn’t want to stay a few times but no one in the NFL wanted him so he stayed and we all felt a little used

Now this crap and this site has moved from balanced clear eyed analysis to minimizing and soft pedaling some pretty concerning things.

let’s face it: we aren’t the Michigan we used to or should be.  We can get there again, but a whole new leadership and outlook to reorient our moral compass is in order.

I’m just afraid Stalions is…

I’m just afraid Stalions is going to be our Steve Bartman.

Man I wonder what kind of…

Man I wonder what kind of case they would open on us if we put up a big banner of Hitler or something like that.

Give a call to Ann Arbor…

Give a call to Ann Arbor based Pinkerton.  They will fill you in.  And when you are trying to persuade parents to let their son to come to your school along with all the other big schools across the country, there are no low level positions in your program when it comes to racism.

I disagree.   Social media…

I disagree.   Social media posts that are not locked down are readily checked with a number of large private databases by both large investigative firms and sole practitioner PIs.  And failing to do these checks for exactly the noxious views that were not found here is gross negligence for a prominent position at a public institution.  There is no legit legal recourse for posting racist views unless you think u you our lawyer can convince a jury it was a good idea.

After the 2009 UM/Penn State…

After the 2009 UM/Penn State game in Ann Arbor where we had two weeks to prepare and got spanked by 25 points, I finally gave up on Rich Rodriguez.

This one stands out for me as the moment I felt the program is finally back for good and stronger than ever.  Go Blue!

I was not trying to compare…

I was not trying to compare Howard to Knight at all.  The fact is Howard took a swing at someone who had not touched him or reasonably created an apprehension of imminent battery towards him. That is a crime with no justification whatsoever and there was a time when virtually all UM fans would agree on that and would have supported moving on, no matter how charismatic the coach.

The loss of football recruits in the wake of UMs fantastic season has been well documented on this page.  That they have shorn up the class does not obviate that fact.  Harbaugh may have “earned” the right to interview with the Vikings, but the manner in which he did so showed callous disregard for the interests of Michigan, his players and his staff. The staff voted significantly with their feet.

The sexual harassment environment stuff alone should be enough to toss Pearson. Wtf has happened to our culture? We are now OSU lite.

Well he has hired winners as…

Well he has hired winners as coaches. But I guess they have “issues.”  This is probably the final straw as far as he is more inclined to move the line a la OSU than hold it.

I thought he caved to Harbaugh after the Vikings debacle and gave him a low buyout at the expense of our recruiting. But I thought Others were right and I was too harsh given his last season.

I thought he should have fired Howard for the unprovoked assault on the Wisky assistant. But I thought others were right and I was too harsh given his success and recruiting.

And this stuff with Pearson is outrageous. How do you get to lie to investigators and not get fired?   If you have a great record and are successful, I guess.

I’m sick of this money trumps the right thing shit.  Give someone a chance who will do both.

Bobby Knight was fired for…

Bobby Knight was fired for grabbing a student who dissed him roughly by the arm and lecturing. This after decades of stellar achievements and hothead transgressions.

Had the OSU or MSU coach done this, particularly after a similar somewhat less severe incident a year earlier, we at UM would turn up our noses and sniff at how they have no standards and only care about winning.

Michigan should have standards and Juwan should get a second chance. Somewhere else. I believe in redemption at any stage of the game, but it is a long road and demands a commitment to change. Consequences forge a desire for that commitment.

It seems like we hit bottom…

It seems like we hit bottom on the assistants when Day poached Mattison from us and it has gotten better and better since then. We have a really great staff now.

“Emotion laden?”

Talk to me…

“Emotion laden?”

Talk to me about what just happened with  Josh Gattis.

He has made the program a…

He has made the program a lot better and it was in pretty rough shape when he got here. You can juice an offense with freshman receivers and RBs pretty quick but it takes times to develop offensive linemen and QBs.  And good Lord we were wanting in those departments, particularly after Newsome went down.

Hehas also had some whiffs bad luck and bonehead moves that we’re self inflicted wounds. This year covered for all those sins.

I would like to see him go back to being himself. Fired up on the sideline, kicking FGs when up 42-3 against hated rivals, stirring up shit post game like he did with Jim Schwartz. For whatever reason he has been chained after the first few seasons. It’s time to let him fly and be free.

Cmon man. The signing of the…

Cmon man. The signing of the Stars, the football camps, the nutty recruiting/sleepover junkets, the sideline outbursts, they all went away after the first few years. It would be one thing if they were replaced by something else when they were blocked or petered out, but he just didn’t give it the same ooomph after that.

Chuck Norris wears JJ…

Chuck Norris wears JJ pajamas

Two years in a row…

Two years in a row everything stops while Jim unsuccessfully tries to stir NFL interest.

Does he hate it here that much or is he afraid this year’s achievement is a blip, rather than a new plateau?  We’re gonna find out next year.

He has great assistants and the one with the largest responsibility for beating OSU is already gone.  The rest had to hear on ESPN that their boss was not abandoning them after all. This is a pretty shitty way to treat people, particularly those who efforts without which he would not have have an NFL interview.

Please stop saying he has a right to be pissed because his contract was cut last year. It wasn’t. It was altered to reflect performance. And he responded.  It’s called motivation. Welcome to accountability.

Harbaugh is weird in a…

Harbaugh is weird in a prickly unfavorite uncle way rather than a kooky Back To The Future Doc Brown way.

He did a great job the first few years but somehow ran out of steam and it showed on the field. They never put together the consistent precision you expect from a Michigan program, if you have been watching since the 1970s. The great exception to this was this years OSU game. But without that game how would we all feel?

He got paid top dollar and delivered just above average performance. His pay was adjusted last year to reflect that performance.  If he can’t accept that he is not the blue collar scrapper that is his image.

He doesn’t want to be here. It has been a struggle to recruit and compete with OSU and will continue to be. Teaching young kids is time consuming and harder than user ready NFL players. He doesn’t want that struggle at his age and station in life.

Bring on Matt Campbell.

3 years ago MSU was a…

3 years ago MSU was a dumpster fire program with big scandal and just a few good players. One new coach later and they own us and a top 5 ranking.

We are 7 years into our third rebuild. We have way better players than Moo U. But we are the same story for every year since Tressel came to Columbus: just wait til next year and the refs aren’t fair.

We are the best or near best of the Big Ten’s second tier and that’s the ceiling for this program. Brian said it last year- the only thing left is to plumb the abyss.

This is why I say In Warde…

This is why I say In Warde We Trust. His coaching hires have been fantastic.  Imagine hiring an AD with actual AD experience for a change.  I think he has had a direct hand in firming up the football assistants hiring too.  Go Blue!

Best Italian name for UM…

Best Italian name for UM football since Andy Cannavino. Well worth the wait!

Cade came in and immediately…

Cade came in and immediately moved the offense that hadn’t budged since Jake Ruddock left.  He’s got the jazz and he will start. I am somewhat optimistic about the offense this year.

And with our DL and corners this year and without improved play at safety we are gonna need to score a lot of points to win 7 games or more.

Let’s toss Rutgers, Maryland…

Let’s toss Rutgers, Maryland, and Nebraska from the Big Ten and add Notre Dame. Athletic and Academic and geographic fits all around and great rivalry games for years to come.

I understand Matt has a bias…

I understand Matt has a bias against Bo, but I don’t think we need to wait for Geoff or Schemy to stand and be counted. Because of the dozens if not hundreds of athletes who already have done just that.

Anderson participated in mass football physicals at Tappan every year for 9th grade football.  I remember a couple guys from my class right after the physical complaining about the extended play he gave their junk.  If he was brazen enough to do it in a gym full of kids, coaches, and other drs, he was brazen enough to do it to Bo’s kid in private

I’m crushed about Matt…

I’m crushed about Matt Schembechler’s statement but I also believe it. All of it. Let’s blot out the man’s name, celebrate the players, and put in independent controls so this never ever happens again.

Maybe the lesson here is…

Maybe the lesson here is Michigan needs to do some real homework instead of buying the shiniest overpriced gaudy objection on the shelf.

Bo was a small name smaller school up and comer. You could argue Hoke was that, but I don’t think his bona fides compared to Bo’s, let alone other coaches available when Brandon took him.

If a 7-5 season on the heels…

If a 7-5 season on the heels of a 2-4 winless at home season is good enough, we may as well have kept Hoke.

I hate naming buildings…

I hate naming buildings after people. It seems very undemocratic to me.  How about the Ice Box? Lines up well with the Big House and carries with it the same vintage as Yost.  We could carry the theme to all the renamed buildings. Crisler arena could be The Cage.

He may well be the Crash…

He may well be the Crash Davis we’ve needed for a long time. I think he is going to get a lot of playing time and do very well here.

They have been putting in…

They have been putting in the work for 7 years.  So did Richrod. So did Hoke. Well maybe not as much with Hoke. Everybody in college ball works.  Not everyone wins.

Campbell could be brought in next year and retain a number of these assistants.  The Ravens guys will have an easy return to the NFL.

Wait to see how much space there is in the stands in the fall, especially if there is a slow start. I don’t think Jim has a free pass for two more years. Anything below 7 wins and he is toast. He might even be rigging up his own parachute right about now.

Back then we knew people…

Back then we knew people like dr Anderson existed but thought they were a rare occurrence. Now all you have to do is read the paper about the Church, the Boy Scouts, or just look at any county’s sexual registry and know they are everywhere, at every level of society.  They seek positions of authority and trust like the not so good doctor.  All of these things have raised awareness since the 90s and as have their outgrowth, the required trainings and checks one must take to become an adult involved in formal activities with youths.
That stuff was in its infancy at best back then. And victims except the bravest cringed in the shadows for fear of being stigmatized.  And in that void the inertia of “he’s a good guy, I’ve known him a long time, everyone likes him” tends to rule. It would have been heroic for Bo to recognize the threat presented by Dr Anderson and dismantled it.  And he had enough to go on that he should have, but failed. So make it part of his story to give heart to his successors to do the right thing.  And take his and Canhams names off the building and the statute down for it

But don’t curb discourse on this at all.  It should be what we do in times like these. Bo and Canham are not here to tell their stories, express regret, or apologize, which they hopefully would have done. Let’s not stifle those with a perspective that might have come from these men’s quarters.

Well said.

Well said Wendy.

Actually the State of…

Actually the State of Michigan does it that way.  Criminal Sexual Conduct 1st thru 4th degrees for varying levels of sexual contact.

Not justifying any of it at all. Just giving my perspective from watching Bo and the team for a long time.

Dr Anderson examined me as…

Dr Anderson examined me as part of a mass physical in a gym for school football. Nothing happened. I recently found out what I recalled as an idyllic Boy Scout experience was actually a meat market run by multiple pedophiles posing as Scout leaders who got hold of some of my friends. These people look for victims who won’t talk and if they do no one will believe.

I don’t think buildings should be named for people or that statutes should commemorate anyone. All people are flawed. Concepts, ideas, nature are things to commemorate.

That said I don’t think Bo turned a blind eye. I think early on he thought he was bucking up too sensitive kids and at the end he found himself too old to take on an issue he didn’t really understand. Not excusable, but not quite the same as ignoring Jerry Sandusky taking a shower with a 12 year old in the locker room.

I think this is gonna pan…

I think this is gonna pan out like when Mattison left and it will feel like we kept the wrong guy.

These guys are mercenaries…

These guys are mercenaries. To have revived Michigan’s defense after a year or two would earn a HC gig in a name D I program.

I think he looked at the Spring Game and everything else and figured his long terms odds were better with Buffalo. Ouch.

Maybe this post is right and…

Maybe this post is right and although the program looks like “Major League” now, by mid November we will be putting it to the Yankees, er, Buckeyes. C’mon Jimmy! Throw the heater!

Good Lord, we’re the Cubs.

Good Lord, we’re the Cubs.

Aside from football,…

Aside from football, Michigan is killing it in almost every other sport. I don’t want to set off this site’s legion of loons, but I am wondering, can Dave Brandon take any credit for this with his turnover of so many coaches? I know he doesn’t get credit for basketball and hockey but what about gymnastics and the others?

When questioned on a play…

When questioned on a play all after the game Bo would say he’s not going to listen to 107,000 screaming maniacs in the stands. I wonder what he would say about all this.

I think he would try to prop Jim up for a year or two with some good assistants and see how it goes.  But then  I think he would let him save face and resign with a payout.

I waited 3 years for DCaf to…

I waited 3 years for DCaf to be the starting QB and expected great things from a fiery competitor. Now he AND Milton are gone having made no mark on the program. I like Cade but just can’t believe this is where we are at the position that is Harbaugh’s strong point (2 freshman and a transfer).  And while Warde saved a lot of buyout money for Harbaugh’s new contract, what will the buyouts of all the new coaches cost if Harbaugh is let go? The path forward is not clear.

The Harbaugh era has had so…

The Harbaugh era has had so much turnover with assistant coaches that it really seems like two distinct periods. The first with some good success beating the teams we should and not as much against ranked contenders, but optimism that things were on the upswing.

This feels like the end of RR/Hoke eras without the Brandon arrogance or a concussed QB scandal. Nothing but the numbness of continued OSU beat downs and the echo of the first winless home season ever.

Juwan is awesome!! Hope he…

Juwan is awesome!! Hope he stays for 50 more years !!!!!
