There was a time we all…

Time

Enjoy the self imposed exile.  I need to fit in time to read this awesome blog every day, and sometimes find that there is too much content for me to get through.  I cannot imagine the time it takes to write, edit, compile, etc the plethora (yea, I said it) of information you feed those of us diehards who read even in the offseason.

I like To picture my baby Jesus with a tuxedo t shirt and dreads under a winged helmet
You're right, but

it's tough to do if you are engaging forward.  By the time you are cut you have forward momentum.

agree - it is redneck

and the use of OK State's logo in place of ohio would be sublime if ohio was that good.

respectfully disagree

the most important question not asked is whether the athletes on the field like what we are piping in..

Even though ITBH, Lose Yourself, Seven Nation Army, etc seem to be cliche, the players MUST get pretty amped up when 110K+ sing along.  In today's world, we will never see a unique piped in song for more than a week, unless it is as specific as ITBH.  So the metric should really be whether the music is uplifting (ie 7 Nation, etc), or ridiculous (Neil, Journey).

Frankly, the only reason Don't Stop Believin' is piped is for 2 words

I thought I would

like night games, until I found out that I can't get on the golf course until noon Saturday.  I will be up a 6 am with 6 hours to kill - must be what the players have to deal with every game day.

curious

to see if he will jump up and touch the banner...if he does I hope he doesn't pull a Mesco

The stripes on the shoulder

The stripes on the shoulder pads look like a continuation of the helmet lines when it is on, which will clearly add even more speed to our winged athletes.  Glad we were able to see Denard off the field!

Agreed

I want a night game a year too, and for selfish reasons.  As a season ticket holder from out of state, it is a major ordeal for me to haul my ass to AA from NY for games, so I do it right for the 4 or so games I decide to attend.  I am at the golf course when it opens, tailgate as long as possible, wrap it up and get to the stadium before kickoff.  Then afterwards, I may get another hour while traffic thins out.  The experience is over all too soon, especially later in the season when we kick off early.  I am sooo excited to be able to enjoy the day with my fellow tailgaiters.  I will grill at least 3 times, play some bag toss (hate calling it cornhole), toss the ball, watch the early games (we bring a 48' screen), and basically enjoy the entire day of Michigan Football.  This makes up for the one guaranteed bad weather game I attend every season (still hate you Northwestern game).

tradition

tradition =/= single game jerzeys

The USC violations

were a result of both Reggie Bush and OJ Mayo, who if I recall had quite a few recruiting violations that were discovered.

So long, Zeke Pike

Picked Auburn today.  Good luck young man

hypothetical scapegoat

= empty cupboard

I admit

I was one of the guys freaking out about the BH hire, and now find myself very excited.  He is starting to assemble a top-notch recruiting class, didn't lose any players, hired a good staff, and isn't going anywhere!  Go Blue.

corners

Brian is probably not mentioning Corners in an effort to keep the AMHG from coming down with vengeance.

optimism too

although the D sucked last year, some of the blame has to be attributed to the scheme even though we lacked fundamentals.  Put mid-tier players in bad defense = 2008-2010

Jerry tackling Tom

isn't Tom the cat?  actually, that kind of makes sense now...

it's because

they "still fail to CORRECTLY spell it CORRECTLY" because they are in a hurry

Swagger

We had swagger...and I don't mean to single out the Fab 5 as the source.  They were certainly a large part of the equation, but it was plain exciting to be a fan of Michigan sports (state of, not just UM) because of all of our (my) teams.  I fondly recall that time.  Remember the Pistons were coming off 2 NBA championships (they went 2 for 3) and were the Bad Boys, the UM basketball team had their championship and then the Fab 5 came, the Red Wings were leading the NHL in scoring and you just knew they were going to start to win championships (and they did), Cecil Fielder was busy winning HR and RBI crowns, UM football had back to back Rose Bowl games...hell even the Lions had Barry Sanders and a 12 and 4 Season in '91.  We had the best RB in the NFL, the best hitter in baseball, the most hated NBA team, the most exciting NHL team, and a 5 year run of Big 10 football championships.  Topping it off for me personally, the spartans were 3-8!   Man I miss those days!

The letter writers are alive

I see them every Saturday yelling "down in front"

tainted?

How could they use this as an excuse?  "we got caught cheating, so your victory over us is less impressive than our victory over you with ineligible players"

What HS in the highlight reel

I  thought it was our starting D

Dear Illinois, Indiana

Dear Illinois, Indiana, Northwestern, Minnesota, and Purdue;

Suck it.

Sincerely,

Michigan

how many times did you scream "run!" at the TV or field last yea

um, every time.

Because

Because Denard sat behind Tate, Devin sat behind Denard...and they all had the opportunity to play either due to injury or through proving themselves.  If a QB is elite, he must believe he is elite enough not to sit.

Michigan Man in 07

It really felt like there was a big push to make some changes following Lloyd in 07.  Although we beat Florida, we also lost to Oregon and that FCS school.  There was disgust in the fanbase.  We wanted change.  Michigan Man wasn't really part of the discussion.  RR came in and made very drastic changes that although the fanbase asked for, they weren't ready for.  The backlash is partly due to a need to get back to what we were - kind of a careful what you ask for situation.

At the very least

At the very least there had to be some Hoke influence, as Denard made his decision after speaking with Brady.  And don't overlook that Denard mentioned playing in 2 different offensive schemes...which means Brady didn't just tell DR what he wanted to hear.

Anyone who doesn't think MI Anyone who doesn't think MI in elite should tune in to ESPN. What other coaching vacancies get Airtime?
3500 is hard 3500 is hard for anyone to do, as it requires almost 300 yards per game average. However. I think he is a better passer than he gets credit for. Imagine his numbers if just half of the catchable balls last season were, ya know...caught.
I hope Denard decides to stay

I hope Denard decides to stay, but not for the same reason I see everyone arguing.  Yes, he is a stud.  No argument there.  More importantly to me is that he is a guy who represents Michigan - even beyond football.  He is a leader, is humble, has zero ego, takes losses hard, contributes, and competes.  He LOVES playing for us.  He LOVES playing for his teammates.  He is a Michigan Man, and it would be a shame to see him leave.

I think you are right

it just doesn't occur to me that UConn is a BCS team!

he's texting LL Cool J for a

he's texting LL Cool J for a new Kango

beat a BCS Bowl team

with a Heisman QB.  But also lost 2 early unmentionable games...

we have Mike Patrick and Craig James calling the game

at least it isn't Pam

no Wangler to Carter? WTF, internet?

it was voted in as #7, behind Desmond's diving catch vs. Notre Dame.  "Johnny Wangler to Anthony Carter, will be heard until another 100 years of Michigan Football is played!!!"
