Miles gave him an unconditional release, so this is possible.
|1 week 10 hours ago||This is welcome news||
Thanks for posting.

What is non-space?

This is a very nice addition. I'm cautiously optimistic about next year and the year after.
|1 week 2 days ago||I think he's much more of a slasher than a shooter||
I think he's a decent shooter, but that doesn't seem to be his game. He will bring athleticism to the table, though.
|2 weeks 5 hours ago||Cain or Matthews but not both?||
I've wonder if Cain and Matthews are mutually exclusive. They're simlar, and as Ace noted Xavier landing a similar player seemingly caused Cain to drop them.
I assume Michigan would take both. It would be great to land a PG, Cain, Matthews, and Young to go with Poole. But Cain might not see it that way.
|2 weeks 6 days ago||That is a fair critique overall to some extent||
But I don't see how that applies here. Baruti didn't score well enough on the English test.
|3 weeks 1 day ago||I imagine no one will believe this, but...||
...I went to school with a guy whose family owned a lawnmower manufacturing company. I realize this sounds utterly fantastic.
|3 weeks 5 days ago||Sad news||
Hopefully the champ pulls through. It's almost impossible to imagine an athlete today having the cultural impact that Ali did.

We should leave one of these up so people know it's been discussed and debunked.

|4 weeks 1 day ago||I think the question is what you want for your kid||
Good genes and good opportunities can make someone a scholarship athlete (not necessarily D1). That's not bad at all. But you'll need pretty great genes to play pro sports.
There is a fascinating book called The Sports Gene by a guy named David Epstein if anyone wants to read more about genetics and sports.
|4 weeks 2 days ago||Thanks as always for posting - good stuff||
Young must be one of the most important players on Michigan's board for '17. The four spot in '17-'18 is set to be DJ Wilson and a bunch of broom handles taped together as of now.
|4 weeks 3 days ago||It's possible I'm overthinking this, but I would think...||
...Tommen or no that there would have been a lot of exchanges like this:
Faith Militant: We control this block now.
City Watch: That's hilarious. We're going to cut off your heads.
|4 weeks 3 days ago||I've never understood how the Faith Militant...||
...even somewhat took over the city in a police/military sense. I have a hard time getting past that.
I like that they are (I think purposefully) showing Dany to be a questionable choice for ruler.
I'm always happy to see Sam and Gilly. Sam taking that sword seems like it will be important, and it was nice to see him tell his father to go to hell in deed if not in word.
|5 weeks 6 hours ago||It's terrible!||
It's not my place to be chiming in this way, perhaps, given that I'm white, but I can think of an African American professor or two whom I had along the way who would (I assume) choke on their coffee if they read that piece.
|5 weeks 6 hours ago||Sure, I'm making this up, but...||
Maybe Donlon has a connection via the Horizon League. Maybe Novak or GRIII or McGary have some sort of Indiana-based connection to him. Maybe he really likes teams what wear a version of yellow.
|5 weeks 6 hours ago||Wilbon||
I don't think he's dumb in the sense that he'd perform poorly on a standardized test. But his ability to focus - if he ever had one - has been eroded by living in an environment in which the attention you get for saying something is more important than whether what you're saying makes sense. His piece is as backward as the day is long.
My guess is that he'd call people racist for saying his article is stupid, which it is, but the reality is that he happens to be an African American member of the 95% of sports journalists who are idiots. Sports journalism* is a refuge for the loud and the ignorant of all races. None deserve to be spared from being called on their behavior.
*I realize other types of journalism are far from immune to this, but no politics and all...

|5 weeks 3 days ago||That's an interesting suggestion||
I'm inclined to say Baruti received the attention he did because Michigan is going to be so thin on the wing this season, but it's true that Cain doesn't quite fit the typical mold. Kyle Young does fit that mold, though, so we'll see.
|5 weeks 3 days ago||A time loop?||
Had all of this already happened? Hodor has been saying "Hodor" for a long time.
|5 weeks 6 days ago||Huh||
This doesn't seem like a big loss in the long run, but man will they be thin on the wing next year.
|5 weeks 6 days ago||Good stuff||
Thanks for posting.
|6 weeks 1 day ago||It wouldn't be bad at all||
Dakich averaged 0.6 ppg and 0.6 apg, so even the average season would be a big step up from last year (a low bar, I realize).
|6 weeks 1 day ago||Xavier Simpson and expecations for his first year||
I've been meaning to post a diary about this, but I haven't been finding the time. The long and the short of the diary would be this: I looked at freshman PGs who in the last five years were ranked within ten slots higher and ten slots lower than Simspon on a given site (with the exception of Rivals, who unhelpfully doesn't distinguish between PGs and SGs).* I excluded PGs who fell within that ranking window whose first years playing were not their first years out of high school.
Simpson will score roughly 6.5 ppg and hand out roughly 2.5 apg if he meets the averages of those players.
*Example: Let's say Simpson was ranked #44 on a given site. I looked at PGs who were ranked 34-54 on that site within the past five years.
