1 week 6 days ago	No different than other schools	Recruiting is coaches working their tails off to get into recruits ears, heads and convince them this is the place for them no matter what school they are recruiting for. Nebraska seems like they are way behind in the evaluation period as well not just sending out offers.  They have litte buzz in recruiting so they are in trouble.  Nebraska used to have the entire state run it's option offense for hs football so they could take walk on's on offense every yr that were tailor made to step in.  That allowed them to focus a little heavier on defense in recruiting. Nebraska isn't that far from texas, or certainly no further from texas than alabama is and other sec schools tha regularly recruit Texas....they just have to get out and work it., though Pelini has never been known for being a bigtime recruiter.
5 weeks 3 days ago	wonder how big his bonus is now?	Would love to see his bank records from 2010 till now............................as barkley said 200g for newton was a good investment....wonder how much it took in hush money to keep the investment secure....

Glenn Mason must be laughin agian...........and they wonder why they are still fledgeling rather then going out and having a plan from the get go.......it is obious they do not.......I wonder if their ad thought he had Smart in the bag and jumped thinking it was happening.
11 weeks 12 hours ago	thanks for being a mod	I was a mod on a different site, some would know which...that said it's tough keeping up with sheer volume of posts and checking the boards constantly, keep conversation moving and in a decent direction.  Keep the negativity out so the boards are tolerable....and not just some dump hole. I have visited these boards more then in the past and you guys have done a real good job moderating.  This board is fun at times with the sarcasm and over the top reactions to stuff posted and as well then just over the top and annoying at others.  It's a tough job, unthankfull by many and zero reward is absolutely truth.  Good job and when you recharge the batteries may take it up agian....
11 weeks 2 days ago	bigten tourney will get better imo....	Home court advantage is a huge deal to teams strengths from what I have watched.  So when you play at msu or osu it's going to be a physically played game and refs let more things go.  Msu and osu were riding our offensive players and that is something that gets called in a tourney game...... Michigan, Indiana tend to be more offensive and the calles tend to favor that style for these teams when at home.  I think it's why pennst got a win, they played our boys tough in a2 physically to nock our boys off their shooting....in happy valley they got away with even more they wouldnt in a2 or in a tourney.. Biggest thing is play aggressive no matter what the refs are calling.  Be aggressive offensively since they are an offensive team, and keep the defense active bigtime....The most aggressive team under control gets the calls.........That is why duke seeming owns officials but they play under control but ultra aggresive...

Fact that the school kicked them out means saban just followed what already was directed by the school.  Oversigning...well it's roster management and what needs to be addressed isn't the 25 per yr limit but it needs to be 25  plus 3 in a yr or 85 total plus 3...  that way if you only have 15 available scholarships and you can't still sign 28 something the sec is still doing.
12 weeks 11 hours ago	Big Will should have been a rs	But then again, so should Devin and so should many others.  Rich made tons of player personel mistakes in his tenure but I think the biggest part of that was his coaching staff. Bruce Tall was a DB coach his entire career and was the DLine coach at Michigan....I had read he attended coaching clinics for coaching dline that spring/summer.. 2008...  Shafer and Gibby were the 2 db coaches for that 2008 team and Hop the lber coach...a safeties coach his entire career........ Bruce Tall being the dline coach tells you everything you ever needed to know about RR's tenure.  He never adapted or changed and defense starts up front just like offense.  If the oline performed just like the dline did, that oline coach would have been fired....Rich protected Tall at dline rather then move him to db coach like he should have the moment Shafer was fired...and took the fall.....
12 weeks 2 days ago	Career move for Montgomery...	Career move for motgomery isn't a miss by hoke, and to put that out is a bit foolish imo.  It's no secret Montgomery is a very good dline coach or that Michigan can essentially have 3 dline coaches...  so I would guess far more comes down to career move, more responsibility.  Reconnecting with stoops, also Iowa alumni.. and many other things in it for Montgomery..... Hoke, didn't block it, offered to match compensation and Mongomery still wanted to move on. Most likely our staff hires a olber coach....  rather or not they hire an olber or dline coach for the replacement I am good with Hoke and Mattison selecting assistants...something I think is a great strength of theirs.
13 weeks 2 days ago	a grey shirt cannot enroll, workout or practice till the 2nd	A greyshirt cannot be on campus, workout or practice with the team in the summer or fall...they are not allowed to enroll till the 2nd or winter semester/quarter.....they can't participate in bowl practices either.....so no sec teams cannot do that once they have a kid on campus.

Unless the staff feels he is a top second option should they not land McDowell and a few others at dt....  With Mone already committed I would be suprised if they accpet a commitment quickly before Mcdowell even visits....   No doubt though the staff knows defensive talent so we shall see how it unfolds. I don't think McDowell ends up at DE unless it's SDE......

Those 4 didn't report it, they should have, all 4 are paying a huge price for not doing so but have damn near sunk the football program because they didn't do the right thing. Spanier, Schultz and Graham all are more culpable as they didn't answer to Joe, all had the responsibility to report it themselves.  Joepa, yeah, he influenced the nonreporting, but the deal is, he answered to them, not the other way around.  Mcqueary, at any time could have picked up the phone and called police...
14 weeks 5 days ago	Guess noone got the update	Ricardo Miller is transfering to Umass.........That is one....so rather or not any 5th yr player is invited back you can figure one more will leave before fall camp.   Some attrition happens... Remember last yr had 25 signed and they still offered 7 walk-ons schollies.....  so attrition happens, and keeping close to te 85 number even with a full class is the game these days.

Still for plush and pure awesomeness...Texas and Oregon's seem to be tops still...But doesn't matter a weight room is a weight room and as long as you win players come if you win big elite players come.  Not a whole lot of care is given to the ameneties....as Usc and Miami's were the worst forever, though I think Miami's is horrible still.....
15 weeks 3 days ago	quick takes	Didn't get enough players involved offensively, relied to much on burke.   Didn't move well offensively or defensively at times, allowed easy baskets by Zeller.  Too many possessions one pass and a shot, no flow, movement kills this......
15 weeks 3 days ago	My understanding is it's a violation	Remember usc had to quit having dinner at Papadikis's restraunt as they always happened to have former players show up and then the second thing they got in trouble for was having a commitment ceremony.... Osu got in trouble for having Chris Carter bump into recruits at osu games .... This happens all the time though...........
15 weeks 4 days ago	Oline then QB	Oline, unless the guy has already been in a solid s&c program it's hard to predict how strong he can get while adding the needed weight.. and is he that type of worker.  One reason LTT in this current class was highly rated is he has the athleticism to be elite, but doesn't have the fundamentals, doesn't have near the core strength at all to play for a couple yrs... QB, it's really a position that can be hard to predict.  Competitiveness, natural leader, very much the has to be preparing more then anyone else type player.  Getting that is so hard...some guys are just better athletically in today's read/spread option run game and start for that reason but the guy that can get the ball where it needs, recognize a defense, blitz, know his routes, route tree vs the coverage and hit it...   That's hard to find a really good qb and develope him.....

I would agree with that and part of what Rich was doing was coming to bust up "The Country Club" mentality...and yes, there were players who had that entitlement feeling...it was posted on the interweb message boards all over including mgoblog....scout, rivals all of the boards.  But not hiring quality coaches, hiring 4 db coaches instead of hiring the coordinator and letting him build a staff along with his goal for a defense, and not being willing to work with the talent he had and recruit that talent to him cost him year one and ultimately  led to year two debacle as well and by then it was pure survival mode.  No athletic department, Lloyd Car support, former player support was going to save him from then on out and anyone arguing otherwise has their head burried in the sand.

So lets say they open the bank and give Casteel 800k a year.....Rich still hired 3 other db coaches to run his defense, and you think Casteel would fix that?  Not one true dline coach among them.  You think it's an accident our 2 most talented position groups on defense Dline, then lber were the most under performing and led to a defense giving up the most points in school history consecutively, yearly for 3 seasons? Oh, Casteel better then Shafer?  Yeah....get back to me when you figure that one out.
15 weeks 6 days ago	Michigan owes Rich nothing, Rich owes Michigan nothing	It didn't work. Blame Michigan for not accepting him, rolling out the financial red carpet..oh wait, he got more money for recruiting, got the facilities, got the total treatment to succeed from Michigan. Blame AD Staff and support staff...  You mean to tell me they didn't show up to do their jobs every day?  You mean to tell me they talked bad about him and didn't support the guy running around like a bull in a china shop saying you guys don't know how to win in football, I do in a place that was very highly successfull for a very long time.  Wow, color me crazy...  cause if it was that bad, tell me why those support staff people weren't fired?  I'm waiting. People outside but former players, coaches and alumni didn't support him?  Are you kidding me?  How many supported Bo when he walked in the door and turned the world upside down with what was considered a good team for Bump coming back?  Nobody except his AD until he beat ohio st.......   Rich...  He hired 4 db coaches to run the defense.  Fired all of Lloyd's assistants (his right), assasination style...which burnt alot of bridges immediately, his right  though...,  We saw tons of players leave, 36 by my count that first yr total, but Rich kept saying we will win with them and we are going to install our system now and not worry about who is here.  He put out the single worst defense in school history.  He put out the lowest win total in a 12 game season in school history...........,  it was that bad.... Rich ran off the players he needed to win, his recruiting never took shape as half of his classes were having about 30% never make it in or gone by the end of their freshman year.    So, you can blame anything you want on Michigan, but the fact is, just like Bo, the tools were there, were given to Rich and he didn't get it done.  Had Rich worked harder to endear himself to everyone as they claimed he is a genuine people person, then maybe we would be more forgiving....but the fact is, 2 wins against nd, msu and osu and multiple blow out losses, and 3-9, 5-7, 7-6 records and 6 total bigten wins in 3 yrs got him fired.  Not one person who did not like him or support him caused that, or made Dave Brandon fire him.
16 weeks 5 days ago	This is the way it's going...	Only bad thing is you will have to buy season tickets or 3 or 4 game ticket packs to get the premium games as well.  I will get pissed if I have to pay $150 for osu and stuck with $80 for eastern michigan and  central nevada...you get the idea..   Prices of non premium games you can find on line for half of face value aren't going down with ad ticket prices.....so it still may come out better to get the tickets on line.
19 weeks 4 days ago	This would be a major mistake if not done correctly	Lesser schools stars would be contacted via the old hs coach, his friends someone...we know how that works...  This would become first an sec and big12 loop hole and other conferences would have to do it to keep up......   Stronger limits would have to be put in place imho.......first I think 3.0 gpa would have to be the level to transfer without sitting.....And schools should be able to block a set number of schools and particular if they feel those schools have tampered by contacting the athletes.

You would believe that was a win for nd reading the article.......but if their biggest win of the era was a 23-0 loss as well as the consecutive losses...well now...  I like how some would discredit the early dominance of the 1900's but when they try to make nd look good suddenly Michigan was the superbowl champs and little nd stood up to them....always entertaining to see the writen biases.

You couldn't blame him, looked like he was going into an nfl offense, nfl qb, wr's he was suppose to complete that puzzle......reality is Kiffin didn't have a great staff there and it shows..  Not to mention he can be such a douche people enjoy him failing.  Silas, I would think his stock would have been better to stay at pennst.....
20 weeks 5 days ago	don't be ridiculous.....	None of us have any love of msu but the above statements are absurd.  Hollis did have the game with unc on a carrier and that was really cool.  They also worked to have the outdoor game with Michigan and other events as well. The idea was better then it could have ever been executed.....The reallity is the fact that tv networks weren't willing to bite, how could they produce 4 games on the same location at the same time......the logistics would be impossible across 4 channels..  and then the other part....such a major event would have to sell tickets for the schools to go, and guarrantee so much tv revenue for 8 teams.............with no single game getting the floor and tv time to it'self.  Thus that would drag ratings for such and event. Good idea on paper cause it sounds cool....just no way to realistically pull it off........
20 weeks 5 days ago	that game was tough to watch	One of those games where you should have had a nice lead and instead you kick field goals cause wide open td passes are missed, cut back lanes in run game are missed or penalties that stop drives.... and they let them hang around till they finally took the lead...........It was one of those I thought they were going to blow it and hand it over... and they nearly did...but they did get it done and pull it out.
21 weeks 1 day ago	denard's future is wr/rb	Not at corner....corner makes a mistake they give up a td......and that mistake isn't one speed prevents cause a mistake gives up 3 or 4 full speed strides before you get the shot to correct it.....and a good nfl wr is already going down field and fast enough that you paid for it with 6pts...... Denard is that dangerous in the open field that getting him 5 to 10 touches a game is worth it....cause he can break it on any touch and is good enough to generate his own yds.......
22 weeks 3 days ago	I only witnessed 1 drunken incident at the bighouse....	2007 osu game, my tickets were section 9, row 27, end seats and the guy infront of me a Michigan fan and his gf an osu fan...she was on the endseat..., an osu fan going down to his seats a few rows further down turned said some drunken jiberish and planted one on her....... she went off, she was going off hating osu fans.....  and a few things about having to throw up.... he ended up being escorted out as enough fans complained about him, including osu fans..... 2004 we had an angry Irate Michigan fan, dude was going off ready to kill msu's team and was letting their fans have it.  He didn't make any contact or get in anyone's face, it was mostly funny but if someone would have challenged him, who knows... he wasn't drunk at all....

23 weeks 17 hours ago	Why attend now	Game attendance vs watching from home.. Game.. PSD Ticket  $80.00 Parking $20.00 - $40.00 Gas  $5.00 - $100.00 depending on driving..  I drive 8hrs round trip to attend 3 games a yr.... Food.  ????   If you add it up it's about $300 to attend each game when adding everything in.  Yeah you can get some ticket deals and lower that some but the reality is to see the games you want, it's getting expensive, and yet you are forced to see the low profile games at the same rate to get season tickets to see the higher profile games.  And to make that worse our schedule is quite unbalanced, ND, Nebraska and Ohiost all either in Michigan or away...so one yr it's a great schedule and the next it sucks as only Msu is the big home game.....
