Utterly disappointing. Lions were in such great shape for 1st pick of draft. Big surge w 7 losses just a new way to forge mediocrity.

in my opinion. The 2006 game is described as "the most highly anticipated" in history and I suppose that raises the question of "anticipated by whom?" Of course the Buckeyes won that one. Could be that they hyped that one simply because the thing was produced in 2007. However, that game was no more highly anticipated (by me at least) than the 1997 game (Carr's name and the natty that team won are never mentioned), or the great battles of the early-mid 70s (when I was littler and found it impossible to sleep the night before.)
Nonetheless, highly recommended, with a lot of really funny moments in addition to the tearjerker parts @ Woody and Bo.

I'd bet the house this year. The Team is bloodthirsty.
PS - that is, if I were a betting man.

that we have Tom Brady, Derek Jeter, Desmond Howard and Charles Woodson on the sidelines this Saturday...
(But why is this guy's visit date set for Friday? Hoping that it's a two day affair - how could he come the day after T-Day and then miss The Game?)

Lost my big sis in Ann Arbor this past summer after a year-long fight with an aggressive form of cancer. Really puts things in perspective. My thoughts are with the family.

What he's probably receiving is intensive psychatric care paid for by Urban Meyer, the OSU Athletic Dept, or both.

Can be found on Eleven Warriors: "Ease up on the meltdown... no reason to let Mgoblog have a laugh."
Only schadenfreude that will be sweeter is when we whip their asses next weekend.

And it's up to us to rise above our failures. The future looks quite bright, beginning with next week!

These keep coming out late. Maybe there's a new baby in the family and he's just overworked, but I have to wonder whether he just has a harder time writing about the Wolverines than has been the case the past few years that I've been reading.
He feels the need now to qualify everything that he says. That's a change from before. Additionally, he's just plain missing stuff. Had nothing to say about Sypniewski's sub-par performance, though he may have been helped with that a little had the news about him playing with a 103 degree fever come out a bit earlier.
The Buckeye fanbase is concerned. They know that, even under the previous coaching regime, these games have been competitive ever since Meyer took over there. One difference they have to be noticing is that this team manages to pull out games at the end. That's been Meyer's trademark at OSU and insofar that it has provided them the edge it may no longer be the factor that it was in recent years.

The Lions blew it. It's just that, lucky for them, the Packers blew it worse.

that this is a really good point for this board. No sarcasm intended here. Sports are always going to be with us, regardless of social realities, and are a huge part of the broader culture of any society.

because the Ford family helped to build the auto industry then they have some kind of divine right to the Lions. That appears to be what this implies.
As someone who grew up in Saginaw, within an auto family, I could make all sorts of observations regarding just how well the Fords and others managed that industry. Don't know about your hometown, but mine is high and dry and I lay it at the doorstep of all those with such divine rights because they exercised complete control over production planning and decision making. Given conditions that so many of my friends and their families are facing right now, sorry, but no, I'm not about to canonize the Ford family, or Roger Smith, or any of those people.
Beyond that, however, throughout my lifetime - which coincides with the Ford family's ownership of the franchise - I've seen so many coaches and great players go to their graves attempting to move the team forward. Only conclusion I can come to is that there is a serious problem of organizational culture that goes back to the 60s, in spite of occasional heroic efforts by players such as Sanders (and so many other greats) and coaches along the way. This mess didn't begin with Matt Millen by any means.
