Just beat these guys on Saturday. I make it to maybe one game a year, and me and my football buddy back home picked this one. Glad we did!
|2 hours 46 min ago||There's a part of me that thinks||
that, if we blow these guys out, then we'll know that we have a much better team than what many have thought up to this point. Given our schedule, and given the ups and downs facing so many teams in the B1G and around the country, it's really hard to judge.
Not unlike last year, no? A lot of folks thought that the NW game was going to be a tough one, and then we shut them down completely. I have the same kinds of feelings this year, but we won't know much until this game is underway on Saturday where we stand with regard to Wisconsin. Win this one comfortably and we should be in great shape the rest of the fall.

But a lot of other things need to develop. The good thing about this coaching staff is that the guys get incrementally better. We're going to need that, but with some of the younger talent we have (esp Gary, Higdon, Evans, Asiasi, Perry) my assumption is that they will with every game. Re. Peppers - yes, he's amazing, but he needs to get better, too. I think that we can expect that.
Big injury problems can definitely take a big toll on all this - hopefully that doesn't happen.

Glad I picked next weekend to come back home!

we'll beat the hell out of them, I'll say that much. Expect that spread to go up this week.
|1 week 2 days ago||Millen||
I know that plenty of people hate the guy, but I'm kinda sorta like you. I gave up on the Lions at an early age after being on the receiving end of my father's pissed-off-ness every Sunday in the fall, following Detroit mediocrity, when he would have me help with chores under his direction. Bad scene, perhaps some psychological damage was suffered, with lingering PTSD to this day. My family history probably guaranteed that I would be a future Michigan alum. But it was the Lions that certainly guaranteed that I would be a lifelong Michigan fan. I mean, who the hell else was I going to cheer for?
With all that said, and living 1500 miles away from SE Michigan for decades at this point, the Millen period in Detroit went over my head, I hardly paid it a lick of attention. I always liked him as a commentator previously, and don't mind him so much now - he's generally very respectful of Michigan, our history, traditions and our football team, and he knows football, at least well enough to work a game well.

Most interesting thing for me this weekend was seeing Alabama with a mobile QB. That's a new thing, as if Nick Saban were trying to take a page from Urban's playbook. I wonder if Saban was the guy at Bama recruiting the QB (Jalen Hurts). It certainly adds another dimension to that offense.

|3 weeks 2 days ago||well, stress here Harbaugh's||
emphasis on "cruelty" - too bad it's not Frost on the field tho. I more pity his players.
|3 weeks 3 days ago||I didn't see enough of Smith||
to reach any conclusions about him. But I think he's reached his full potential already and you know what you get. Hopefully he can take things to yet another level, we'll see. Isaac appears to be running the way that a lot of folks thought he could/would - really looking forward to improvement from him as the year goes on.

And then, yes, Wisconsin, which I'll be able to attend. Looking like a good pick.

How hard of one, difficult to tell. Glad I'm going to be there for that game tho.
|3 weeks 3 days ago||With Fred||
It got to the point where I never could tell if his prognoses were a plus or a bane. Evan's play certainly made him look legit today, though. Anything can happen. I remember Harlan Huckleby during our freshman year when he could do no wrong. Then during sophomore year we were nicknaming him "Fumbleby." Here's to all the guys improving as the year goes by, and we definitely have the coaching staff now to make that happen.

He'll be out, but I want OSU to be as good as it gets when we play them in November.
|3 weeks 3 days ago||And we'll be even hungrier||
come October 1.
|3 weeks 3 days ago||Glad that's the game I'll attend this year||
Glad for that. But I concur with the others - LSU is a one-trick pony. Nonetheless, I'm texting nice things to Badgers that I know in these parts.
