While we all appreciate the posts people make, can we please put a moratorium on the coded words and references and cleverness?

I don't have a clue what spartoon means, I must have not logged in that day to MGoBlog, These kinds of posts abound and I don't understand the need to be cute.

Great work - I always appreciate the effort that folks put into this.

Also, I got a kick out of the use of "tomato cans".  I've obviously seen it before, and maybe I'm just loopy after a busy day of work, but it got a legitimate vocal laugh out of me.

Regrettably, I also saw this…

Regrettably, I also saw this earlier today.  Heather Dinich, towards the end of the segment, "confirmed" something to the effect that Conner Stalions was not at a TCU game last season, and Greenberg jumped all over that, which the implication that it's the only game that Michigan lost last season, and "qualifying" it by saying he's not making accusations, just stating the facts.

It was so ridiculously biased that it suggests nothing but a concerted effort on part of the network (or at least that show), to go after Michigan.

Noted - good point.

I went back in the YouTube time machine, because what else am I going to do, and I have the following to report:

- Manningham catch, he had about a 10 yard cushion, but it was the 1st quarter so less at stake.

- Gallon (ND UTL), at least a 10yd cushion, likely more - and it got Brent Musburger worked up in a way I thought only young ladies in the stands could.

Wouldn't that have been…

XM - I am a 90s student, so I've taken my family back to Ann Arbor a few times for football games.  In the 30+ years since my attendance, I've noted the same things you have.  I don't mind the changes, it seems like a natural progression of growth.

Something I would want to add - high speed rail between Main and North Campuses.

Just a comment on John Ruiz.  NOT a Billionaire.  He did not specifically claim to be, to my knowledge, but he has also not refuted it when he was first labelled that, and people have run with it assuming it to be true.

On most phones, you don't need to do this through the APP, you can turn off the "Auto-Rotate" feature.  The phone would remain in portrait mode, if turned off.

Also MGOBLOG has an App?  Nothing shows up in my APP Store (Android).

Property was owned by a trust?  You likely wouldn't have to open a probate proceeding because the property would be outside of your father's estate.

Nevertheless, contact an attorney in the state where the property in question is located.  If a probate proceeding has to be opened, it would have to be opened in the state where the property is located.

That is not the case, certainly not in Florida.

FL Attorney here, but not…

FL Attorney here, but not probate.

Agree with the above, don't know what "Agreement from her lawyer" means.  If your mother was not on title or didn't have a remainder interest, then the only way the home could be left to her would be via a will (which he apparently didn't have), and that would require a probate proceeding.

FL does not recognize common law marriage, which is what this likely falls under, if they were divorced.  Accordingly, she would have no claim to his estate if he died intestate (without a will).

Given what you've stated, I'd find it unlikely that she has any legal claim to the home and more unlikely that she has any claim to his other assets.

Advice - hire a FL probate attorney.  Use the Florida Bar website (www.floridabar.org) to find a probate attorney in the county where the property is located.  Look for someone Board Certified.

EDIT:  Re-read the facts.  So your mom and husband purchased the property together.  If she owns it now (from what her attorney is saying), they may have owned it with a right of survivorship, which would give her full ownership upon his death.

The above only relates to the home - not his assets/personal property.

Surfside is basically North Miami Beach, so some places already mentioned are good - Cvi.Che 105 is good for peruvian.  The North Miami Beach location is the smallest of the three locations, I believe.  The Surf Club is good, but expensive.  Found it overrated a bit given that it's a Thomas Keller place.

If you're willing to venture out of Surfside area:

Markus Samuelsson opened up Red Rooster in Overtown a few months ago.  I've eaten there twice, it's amazing.  The original Red Rooser of his is in Harlem.

Ariete in Coconut Grove is very good.  Modern take on cuban style food.

Macchialina in South Beach for very good Italian.  If you want something close to you, there is a traditional southern Italian place called Prima Pasta nearby which is good.

Mandolin, mentioned here already is a great Greek place in Midtown area.  Also in Midtown is Mignonette, one of my personal favorites.

Lots of really good dining options in Miami but will have to expand out of the Surfside area.

I always appreciate the contributors to MGoBlog and they work they put in.  However, I fundamentally disagree with the premise here.  There were numerous opportunities to win this game.  Any one of those things occur and we're having a different conversation.

I would suggest two things…

I would suggest two things to boost flavor.

First, make sure you are trimming most of the fat.  You don't want more than 1/8" of fat on the fattiest part of the butt.  Fat is going to prevent the rub and salt from being absorbed by the meat.

Second, you should dry brine the butt.  Rub Kosher salt (coarse) on the meat and put it in the fridge for 12-24 hours before smoking.  Also, you want to make sure that whatever rub you use does not contain salt, as you'd be doubling up.  This is a great salt-free rub:  https://amazingribs.com/tested-recipes/spice-rubs-and-pastes/meatheads-memphis-dust-rub-recipe/

Do you get the butt from a…

Do you get the butt from a butcher?  If you can find Berkshire pork, that's the way to go.

That being said, maybe it's your rub?  Are you trimming the fat?  You want to get rid of most but not all the fat, so that the rub is better absorbed into the meat (won't go through the fat).  Do you dry brine it beforehand?

I just made pork butt this…

I just made pork butt this past weekend.  I, like other responders, usually go 225F for awhile (10+ hrs) but since I was on a deadline, I had it at +/-260F for about 8 hrs and it came out great.  Pork butt is a very forgiving piece of meat, so no doubt that you can go 300F and then crutch.

Thank you, MGOBBQ, love your posts.

Suggestions

I just did this same trip in June.  Some suggestions:

1- If you are planning this trip for next year, then great.  Try and make a reservation at the Majestic Yosemite Hotel, one of two (the nicer of the two) hotels IN the park.  Staying outside the park means you have a long drive into the park every day.  It's a bit pricey, but it's a nice hotel.  It's also the inspiration for the Overlook Hotel in The Shining.  They also do cool, interesting events out of the hotel, including stargazing events which is great.

2- Transportation out of SFO to San Fran is tricky.  Yes, you can take the BART.  But it's old, loud as hell, and feels like it's about to fall apart at any moment.  But it will leave you right in the heart of downtown SF.  During your stay in the city, Uber or Lyft.  However, since you are going to Yosemite, you need to rent a car.  I like SilverCar.  They only rent late model Audi A4s, and they have great promotional rates for first time renters.  The drawback to having a rental car is the parking fees overnight while staying in SF.

3- Alcatraz is really interesting.  Do the audio tour.

4- Muir Woods is great.

5- Spend an afternoon in Golden Gate Park.

6- Finally, if you can manage it, go for breakfast at Plow in SF (but only on a weekday).

Well done.

I laughed out loud at this.
