I totally agree with you on all points. I really don't think the NCAA has the ability to actually enforce the proper handling of players by the agents. Outside governing bodies ie. Congress need to have a more active role in making sure that players are treated fairly and that the system remains pure. If Congress enacts real laws, people will be less likely to break them.
Yeah its stupid but its not like they were planning on fire bombing the diag or something, they were just being dumb. People make mistakes, just say don't do that again.
The only knock I have towards Dumars was the firing of Frank. They pretty much drained the roster of any serious, playoff talent off the bench setting up for tons of cap space this year and then fired the coach. Frank was working with a team that needed Charlie V kin the roster, a guy who got beat out by a <19 year old for the Dominican Olympic team.
From what I've heard, they were planning on moving Payne to the 5. That would nulify the major improvement he's shown by being able to step out and hit long jumpers.
If he continues to play at the 4, Costello or Gauna come in to the 5 which still leaves a major hole with Nix departing.
I think the only way MSU gets over what they did last year is if the recruits they have coming in can make an impact.
I could definitely see Poggi coming in and playing as an end on the third down package Mattison likes to run and then after a few years and some extra weight sliding over and taking Black's place in the package at DT.
At least as of now. They have decent wins over Pitt and K-State and managed to play a respectable full of teams, save Binghampton, who were above the Ken Pom 300. Yeah Indiana beat a good Georgetown team and an extremely overated UNC team, but they did lose to Butler... I'm not saying Butler is a bad team but IU did lose that game while Michigan is undefeated.
I think if it came down to it it'd be really smart for GRIII to stay. Assuming Hardaway and Burke leave, GRIII gets to really showcase his skills in the offense, instead of just hitting corner threes and racking up rebounds.
I haven't heard too much about him, but I think he could definitely have some draft potential with his length and his shooting. Yeah his D isn't great but its also the NBA.
I agree with you there. He also needs to be a little less reckless when attacking the basket. The last couple of games its seemed like he has been stuck in an inbetween spot where he ends up forcing the ball into the post on a drive. That being said he had some sick three balls tonight! Its like he doesn't even see the defender thats bearing down on him...
You make some good points but I think he'll be fine going into the big ten season just because he's not really going to be expected to be a lock down defender (which has rapidly improved since the beginning of the year and if he continues to convert contested threes he'll be in really good shape. He's also shooting pretty well from the line. I think he's going to be more of a taller, more athletic version of Diebler this year and then should grow into more of a complete player in the coming years.
I think the achievements of Spike have been really underated due to the success of the other freshmen. Point guard is the hardest position for a freshman to play and the fact that there isn't a HUGE dropoff when our all-american pg is amazing! Granted we've only seen him in stretches of about 4 minutes or less with just him at the point, at least he is getting some time in as a two guard (a little bit of a 1.5 guard) with Burke is great for the future.
I'm really not impressed with MSU at all. Thus far I think Minnesota has been much better team. MSU might have more talent but they have struggled offensively. At this point I'm buying in to Minnesota over State...

Sounds about right
Man Dawson really does look like he could easily gain 20 to 30 more pounds. This line will be terrifying in the coming years!

Thanks for the insight. I was thinking that they might try and go with a small ball line up with Payne at the 5 at times.

Things continue to get out of hand...
Number 1 in our hearts.
He really didn't look like a 300 pounder. He was walking around like normal so thats good.
Everyone knows that Duke women's tennis is overated...
He looked like he was having a good time with Gardner. Gardner sat next to him for most of the game.
Jalen picked Michigan!!!!!
You want ot see all of our players in the buff?
I think Grantland is the better bet here. I'm pretty sure ESPN or Sports Illustrated have never had a Wire or Chapelle Show sketch bracket poll...

I know LTT is projected to left tackle but with his size, I could see him starting out at RT where he won't be forced to pass block as often.

Although I should know better than to look at a thread about the season finale when I'm only on episode 3 of this season...

I don't know how you people can look ahead, we should be focused on South Carolina!!!
