Pretty sure he came back in…

Pretty sure he came back in after that- Might have  even had a reception.

it looked painful and possibly hyper-extended, but nothing totally bent the wrong way / it wasn’t cringe-worthy

Technically it was Troy

Technically it was Troy Vincent who handed down the original suspension and goodell heard the appeal. Semantics perhaps, but it's not the same exact person anymore, which was absurd

Rodgers actually said the opposite

If you listen to the Rodgers discussion, he says that underinflated balls benefit QB's with small hands and/or poor ball grip (i.e. cold weather games). He went on to say that he would like to see a psi minimum in place without a psi- maximum.

its really 5%

....its really 5% since they don't keep the vig on the winning wagers. So they are aiming for equal $$ amounts to be wagered on each side and then they collect their 10% from the losing wagers or 5% (in a perfect senario) of the total amount wagered.

It avoids a push

the half-point or "hook" eliminates the chance that the wager will end up in a push (i.e. tie). It also allows you to move the line in smaller increments, which is important when moving off key numbers like 3, 7, 10.  Having the line at 7.5 instead of 7  will attract a whole group of value-bettors who realize they know basically just have to keep it within one score to win the wager (the inverse would be true by moving from 7 to 6.5). Seems to be some slight-value for GB since they can essentially be down 14pts and then get a garbage td against  a prevent defense and still cover.

GB improved a lot on Defense since week 1 and they didn't have Lacy for most of that game. Baluga (RT) also left the game and his replacement (Derrick Sherrod) was atrocious and directly lead to turnovers and ruined more than one scoring opportunity.

GB wins this outright.

gb/ne in sb

Green bay has gotten much better since week 1 and Seattle is beatable. Gb 30-22

Indy may find it tough to score with a poor run game and Hilton on revise island. New England 27-17

Sooo Productive

Charles Woodson is the most productive/Impactful defensive player I have ever seen. I did watch every game he played for the Packers and his 2010 season was his best (although all were good/great). I had never saw a defensive player make so many plays on defense game- in and game-out.

Most of it didn't show up in the stat sheet either. He would bait QB's into throwing at him, he would hold up ball carriers for teamates to strip the ball, he would strip the ball when others were holding up the ball carrier, he would "get skinny" and fly into the backfield on short yardage plays wrecking havo on the play or gettin a piece of the ball carrier, he also had a knack for the sack fumble when sent on blitz packages, and oh-yeah, the typical lock-down coverage and tackling that is very rare in today's NFL.

....and i basically didn't get to watch him during his prime in Oakland.  Glad I got to see him win a ring in GB though.....been watchin him since his Fredmont Ross days in the GLL league.

I like to play College Footballs

Thanks for pointing this out. I've wondered why only my hometown friends and I do this assuming it was limited to a very small circle of people. I have been enlightend.

My favorite use-case is calling EA Sports NCAA football, "College Footballs".....RIP College Footballs.....

Marvin Lewis / Richt / Spurrier

Marvin Lewis --Hard knocks gave everyone a look at him and he is certainly a great leader and just a impressive individual who knows how to get them most out of his team.

If it has to be a college guy i like Richt for a lot of the same reasons. Spurrier as well for his track record (so many USC guys in the nfl now!).

As usual it's all about the $$$

Even though it's only 22 years old (it even had a renovation in the last 5 or 6 years) there is a clear business case to build new. I think it all has to do with luxury boxes----the more you shove in there, the more you make versus adding some individual seats that are paid by consumers. Big business pays for the boxes and and there is a lot of fortune 1000 presence in atlanta. ....the case for the braves is a bit different, but there convinced they will make more money by putting the stadium closer to the fan base.

Calip

Don't forget about Demetrius Calip on this team. Lead them in scoring even tho he was under 6 foot. Short but very strong.

Demetrius Calip

Calip led the team in scoring one season and bridged the 89' championship team to the fab 5.

Hagerup

My guess is that if he can stay out of trouble and be an outstanding teammate, he will be back on the team this year at some point.....depends on how the punting game is going as well

Mercury Hayes?

Even mercury Hayes? ....pretty sure he was a number 9

True Story

Mangino used to have a sideline fan in his office at KU to keep him cool in the summer. I guess the body's normal mechanism (sweating) didn't cut it and he needed further support to regulate his body temp.

.....can you imagine trying to have a conversation with him while that thing was running?

discountmagsdotcom

I got 4 years of ESPN magazine for $16......insider is free for magazine subscribers.

They have simlar deals at other sites and they come around fairly often...allthough I have a hunch they won't offfer to many deals leading up to football season.

Did he play last year?

Does anyone know if he played last year? If yes, how was his play in general?

Basements in Georgia

They build them, but they are all called "daylight basements"....meaning that the basement is half-buried....Typically,  you can't see the basement level from the front, but its fully-exposed with a walk-out door in the back (it will look like a 3-story house from the back)....its like they intentionally build them on a hill or something.

Anyway, if you get a basement, you probably won't have much of a useable backyard.  I recommend going with the basement, you can't make up for the the extra space especially when the kids start coming.

What about at a sports bar watching the game?

I agree that they shouldn't be in the regular rotation after age 18, but my exceptions are

1. If you are attending the game

2. If your watching the game at a sports bar (non sports bars, like a hotel lobby bars are not acceptable)

3. At home for whatever reason.

prolly a good fit for Tate

....as good as any...I wouldn't mind seeing a familar face for those 11:30 (eastern) kickoffs on ESPN 8.   Im assuming, like most of us, he will learn from his past and he won't make the same stupid decisions.  I  can see him thriving on the field

like a true gambler.....

like a true gambler....you are never satisfied until its all gone :)

That is the big tease about the money-line bets on the heavy favorite....you can alway win 9 of 10 but that one win wipes out everything you've built up.

I try to bet against teams that have horrible offenses and few big play threats to keep potential upsets at a minimum.....but those 5+ turnover games wipe that theory every time.

I also like throwing $10 or $20 on a underdog-moneyline-parlays......they are damn near impossible to win, but the payout makes it like a lottery ticket. I haven't won a big one in a couple seasons....so I am due, right?!

see below

you beat me to it, but the answer is that he must have bet all (or most) on the heavy favorites. They can't handicap UFC like a football game (example:" Fedor -5" isn't applicable).

So the bets on the favorites pay out less than the underdogs.  The inverse would be to bet all underdogs, in which case the payout would have been in well into the millions.....but its also exponationally more difficult, if not impossible.

My guess is that he took all the favorites.

payout is "only" 258:1

Going 12 for 12 is awesome by any standards. Normally you would be looking at around 2000:1 for a 12 teamer. That assumes that you are betting the handicapped lines (Michigan -7 for example) instead of the money lines. For example a $200 bet for a 12 team parlay with linew would pay out close to $400,000.

sounds like this guy bet on all the favorites since the payout was low relative to what a 12 teamer

I've hit many 5 and 6 teamers but never even stiffed anything with a windfall like that. During CFB, one of my favorite things is take a four-team money line parlay with big favorites.  This way as long as the big favorites win (not neccessarily cover), you are ok........obviously the payouts aren't as attractive but you can still get 3:1 (or close to it) by  taking 4 teams that are close to a touchdown favorite.

prolly right

You are probably right, but I can't blame him for wanting to step up and get a shot at leading a major CFB program, even if it is on an interim basis. It could easily land him a MAC level offer, and if successful he would continue to ascend.

However, if he has his fingerprints on this, its only going to publically shame him and he could see a setback to his career. Insteasd of a permanent HC job, he could end up on a staff at a MAC level school.

If I had an offer that tripled my salary, I would definitly be willing to accept more risk or be willing to enter a messy situation for the compensation alone.

IMO  it could go either way.

semantics

I understand he made the comment giving him an out if/when something comes back that can tie him to the violations.  However, if he is really playing a game with his words he should feel the brunt of any fallout if/when he gets drug through the muck.

Most of the media outlets are paraphrasing his statement as the OP did ("he had no knowledge of any violations....."), and he has an opportunity to clarify if he doesn't agree with that interpretation of his comment.

...of course he won't clarify his statement and he will use it as a excuse when/if he is connected to the mess. Its just goes to show you that they may still be trying to decieve the media (invetegators too?). I don't think the media will give him a pass on this and if he is tied to it, he will probably be forced out also....just another bad decision by the AD at Ohio.

Wayne Larrivee!

Wayne Larrive.

He is currently the play by play guy for Green Bay Packers radio. Also, he is on the #2 broadcast team for B1G Network.

He has had  a litany of other jobs around the midwest (Chicago Bulls former play by play guy).

Hawks!

The Hawks are in a never-ending pursuit of a NBA point garud and Morris may be a good fit at the end of the first round. They passed on Deron Wiliams and Chris Paul and rolled craps with Speedy Claxton, AC Law, Dan Dickau, etc....I'm not sure that Kurt Hindrich is the long term answer either.

Alas, they traded the #18 pick to Washington in the hienrich deal, so unless aquire a first rounder, they probably won't end up with Morris.

Jason kidd has obvious talents, but his jumper wasn't very good coming out of college. He devloped a mid-range (and even 3 pt range) pretty quickly and now hes a hall of famer...My point being is that if Morris' biggest fault is his jumper, some teams may still give him a first-round grade.  He certainly has the size, passing and IQ to be a 1st rounder.

check that. It was 4 years

check that. It was 4 years for $16.00. I just checked they don't have it listed currently.

link

I  used discountmags.com....not sure if they have the same deal right this second, but if you wait a week or two it always comes back. Im sure the one above is similar.

discountmags

I used that site and bought 3 years for $16 bucks...when they deliver the first issue you use a number on the address label to sign up for insider. I throw away the mag before i walk into my house. Its not even bathroom worthy.

Still in denial

Thats the first stage of grief. (also applicable to the situation). Acceptance will bring closure.

not his first dirty rodeo

This is the same kid who knocked Mallet out of the game with a head shot when they played Arkansas.  He also body slamed someone (Charles Martin style for those who remember) when they played LSU. This kid plays dirty when hes presented with a tough oppenent.

He has been conditioned to play dirty when they are in a tough game and his team has been rewarded without any repercussions. It seems like this is something that the coaches had to be aware of, yet they never took action.

I hope they come down on him hard for such repeat offenses, but don't count on the SEC to do anything.

The restructured his contract when he was cut/retired

He was owed ~$6M. and they negotiated a deal where instead of paying him the $6M, they would pay him $1.1 for 25 years.

The payments were deffered from 2000 to 2010 (approx), and were discounted at a pretty good interest rate for Bonilla.

The Mets freed up $6.0 in salary when they were competing for championships and basically restructured it into a 25 year annuity starting in 2010.

Rolling Rock

.......tastes like a keg that was left out in the summer heat for 5 weeks. It may be the oldest brewery, but that doesn't mean its any good.

Other horrible beers besides Rolling Rock:

1. Old Style (see my other reply)

2. Natural Light........its cheap for a reason

3. Black Label beer.........pretty sure you can't find this anymore and there is a reason for this.

4. little kings......yuck

5. any malt liquor......was made to get people drunk who don't know any better

6. Anything "Ice" including Icehouse....it may get you drunk but it tastes like shit.

***BTW my favorite "Stock" beer is Sam Adams, solid as it gets...................not to say that there are numerous other good beers out there, but that is my "go to" beer.

***I am 33 now, so my tastes have changed considerably over the past 10 years and I think age definetly affects how you rank you best/worst.

Agreed!

I love Chicago.........but Old Style tastes like shit. Chicago homers will defend it,  but sorry, it just sucks.

Yep....Its still a party school- no doubt

However, I would think that the campus-ban on alchool would keep it from being #1. There is definitly no drinking at any campus tailgaiting, which is the majority of the tailgate spots. I am not sure if its a campus-wide 24/7/365 ban.

I just was thinking the tailgate parties would have some weight when scoring the schools and that would be enought to keep them out of #1.

That all being said, its still  great place on gameday or anyday for that matter. Ill take Gainesville over Athens  if I had to choose.

Georgia.....

...doesn't even allow booze while tailgaiting on campus (President banned it a few years ago). Very suprised to see them at #1 considering all the university has done to curb drinking on campus.

exactly

Its  not a secret that the popular opinion is usually incorrect when dealing with vegas lines. I (personally) wouldn’t be contrarian for contrarian’s sake, but if the vegas line is at 7 for u/o and the money is being laid on the under it may move to 6.5 ………..at which point I like (errr love) the over.

My bet is on the over if it drops to 6.5. The wins are Uconn, Umass, BGSU, Indiana, Purdue, and Illinois……..then we just need to pull one from Iowa, ND, Wisky, OSU, MSU, or PSU…….I like our chances against MSU, ND, Iowa, and PSU……love the over..........<disclaimer> Its fucking football and crazy shit will happen....that being said, I still think kwe will go 7-5 or better. We probably wont win all the gimmie's listed, but perhaps we will win two or more of the "maybe's".

Sauna & water

3 liters of water and 10-12 mins in a Suana. Then rinse off with cool water. Then go back in the sauna for another 10 mins and shower with cold water.

take asprin too.

That is the best remedy I have discovered.

Its probably Hanson........

......but I am thinking Morton Anderson, Jan Stenerud, or Gary Anderson all have played long enought to be close to Hanson in games played......of that bunch only Morton Anderson played on enough bad teams to be considered. However, even Morton played on some good teams at the end of his career and probably is well ahead of Hanson. Stenerud and Gary Anderson had long careers but played on many good teams. I looked for about 3 minutes to find actual wins and losses, but couldn't find it.

In SEC land.....

They are talking about Texas on both sports-talk radio stations in the A-T-L....The one important difference is that it is in the context of Texas JOINING THE SEC!...

Most of the callers and hosts (paraphrasing)are arguing that, "if Texas is considering the B10, then they would jump at the chance to join the SEC". Most of the callers support the idea, but I find it funny that they derailed the real story by making it about themselves versus discussing the real story.....As JT "The Brick" would say, "I like to dip things in reality".....WTF

Scottie Reynolds at 'Nova

Its probably b/c most players that play at that high-of-a-level take off for the NBA after one year.....so to see him around for 4 very productive years means that he is always on ESPN and on TV in March.

I have never seen a

I have never seen a cornerback be as physically productive (sacks, pressures, pass defenses, forced fumbles, fumble recoveries, tackles, interceptions) as Woodson was this year.

Most of the time great cornerbacks simply take away half the field and you don't hear much from them.

Chuck not only filled up the stat sheets but he was the vocal leader of the GB secondary and was in charge of making sure everyone had the right assignments, etc.

I'll say it again, I've never seen a cornerback put together a more productive season than Chuck did this year.

...Last year he was almost as domminant, but GB was 6-10 and woodson didn't get noticed. I just can't believe this streak he is having.

Well deserved award.
