The question at hand could be which is better for the day-to-day operations of the site and the message board, quality or quantity.
The quantity of page clicks result in a larger paycheck, which is good for business in a sense. Lately, it seems like a lot of negativity has driven a lot of traffic for the site (example, the many Fire Borges Threads, and the "Purge" thread). As a result, a lot of valuable posters have gotten fed up trying to shout rational ideas/discussions over the simply stated 'fire borges" statements.
Quality: Using a self moderation system where the community can patrol the message board so that rational discussion of football can easily rid and discourage users who tend to inflame other, most rational contributors. As a consequence, there may be a slight loss in traffic to the site. The users who tend to provide insightful and thought provoking discussion/debates/ideas should have the louder voices in my opinion.
Self Moderation will make the mods jobs much easier since I can sense some burnout from a few of them. The lack of acknoweledgement of the community from Brian and lack of fixes to the board is starting to show.

For the most part, professional athletes/entertainers are paid to do interviews but not are paid directly by the interviewer. They are paid either through salary to meet obligations (professional athletes) or they are fined by the league or organization if they do not meet it. Actors and Musicians are often on talk shows or doing interviews to promote their new release. They are marketing their product.
It goes both ways for the interviewer and interviewee. The interviewer gets what they want and ultimately get paid through page clicks, tv/radio advertising...etc. The interviewee is able to market.
I suggest looking up the Matt Harvey interview with Dan Patrick to hear DP's rant.

To me, it seems like the Tigers are lacking a true leader amongst the players since Sean Casey and Polanco were there. It is good to see Inge trying to step up but the lack of production of the field kind of hurts his credibility and makes him look like a cheerleader.
The starting pitching is awful. The pitchers do not get all that far into the game. Verlander should be able to do a little bit more as a number 1 in regards to quality pitches and pitch count. The two only quality games were against Baltimore and Texas were he averaged 114 pitches in 8 innings (2-1, W vs Chi sox, W vs Balt, L vs Tex) Four other games, he reaches on average 118 pitches in 6 innings (0-4).
From the little research that I've done regarding pitch count and the win/loss of Josh Beckett, Roy Halliday, Cole Hamels, Josh Johnson, Bruce Chen, and Felix Hernandez, when you reach about 110 pitches for 6 innings, their teams were most likely to lose.

I think Rod Allen hypes Verlander way tooooo much. I guess comparing Verlander to the Holliday's, F. Hernandez', Lee's, Oswalt's, he just seems average. It seems like, espically last year, that they were left in the games just a bit tad too long.

B. Inge is by far one of the worst players on the team. He cannot hit to save his life. To me, it seems like he tries to hit home runs every single time he is up at the plate. I would rather have a average defensive third basemen that can hit .240 than Inge.
Verlander to me is not a "true" number one pitcher. I feel that Verlander doesn't go too far into the ball game. It seems like that he reaches 100 pitches or so around the 5th or 6th inning. If he is a "number one pitcher" in comparison to MLB, I'd rank him somewhere around the middle (I assume that the Phillies have 3 number 1 pitchers). But I guess for the Tigers, he is the best pitcher we have. Definately an area we could upgrade.

My wisdom teeth removal was pretty epic. I chose to use the local anesthetic, so they injected me with it and oral surgeon started the removal process within the a minute or so. I did not know what effect the anesthetic would have on me so I thought that a little bit of pain was going to be normal for this type of procedure. While removing my bottom wisdom, the DDS took a saw to me and boom, pain. Apparently, the DDS did not let the anesthetics set in long to numb the area. Therefore, the DDS rushed to inject more anesthetics to numb the area to continue the job.
(rest of story, I did not take any vicodin prescribed to me or any pain relievers during my "recovery")
About a half hour after the procedure, I had to go take a microbiology exam which was fun because I was drooling all over the place and all over my answer sheet.
About 1.5 hours after the procedure, being foolish and hungry, I went and ate a 1/2 pound burger with everything on it but it was by far the best burger I have ever had. I think I impressed the waitress with my manliness.

Michigan, as a university and as a football program is quite unique. The high academic standards allow a select few the opportunity to don the Maize and Blue. Compared to Alabama, Florida and others, I believe that Michigan has the toughest requirements for admission thus you will not be able to get student athletes who cannot excel at both sport and education. This limits the pool of qualified players.
Integrity, character, education, and being the best can take place in many forms. Would you rather have a program that does the right thing all the time and have a high level of success both on and off the field (such as winning in the classroom, society and/or Big Ten Titles) or would you have a program that clouds the line of what is right or what is wrong in pursuit of a National Championship. Since 2003, the national champions, LSU, USC, Alabama, Florida and Auburn have been mired with either off the field arrests (Florida), oversigning (LSU, Alabama most notably) or pay for play scandals (USC, Auburn).
The question is, do we blur the line and oversign people, recruit people with poor character and/or pay top recruits in order to win and compete for NC/Big 10 championships and lose the identity of what Michigan really is or do we practice what we preach and aim for Big 10 titles and possibly an NC with character.
Until the NCAA passes legistration, such as oversigning (I feel that it gives the SEC a huge advantage) and make tougher rules for off the field problems/ pay for play, we will be at a disadvantage. The BCS and money that come along with it has caused greed amongst universities/football programs,

|3 years 8 weeks ago||Personally, I believe that||
Personally, I believe that the Head Coach should be able to be a wonderful leader and know how to manage all parts of the team. To me, it doesn't matter who is coach (within reasonable expectations) as long as he is able to assistant coaches who are able to do their jobs at a high level. The strongest link in the chain (HC) is also the weakest (assistants). Each successful, big time coach always had top quality assistant.
In regards to schemes whether the coach coming in likes spread, pro, wishbone, or t-bone offense, I hope that the offense can be consistent in scoring with a defense that is able to be competent. If the defense is the weakest link, I hope the offense is able to take the burden off of the D and focus on ball/time control. Keep the weakest aspect of the team off of the field. I feel that this past season, the offensive playcalling could have been more generous to the D and allowed for snaps deeper into the play clock (I wish I had some stats on when the ball was snap in relation to playclock but I am going through observation). If we had a stronger D (I guess 2008) for comparison, then the tempo of the offense would have been fine. I am just hoping that the new coach is able to manage the game, recruit within the academic standard, and develop players throughout the year regardless of what year the player is in.

Michigan sports, most notably football, is used as a "tool" for everyone to escape. For the years prior to RR's arrival, things have been sort of bad in the State of Michigan. The economy, the Detroit Tigers and Lions and I guess anything else can be applicable. Michigan football was a light that gave hope in a time of darkness. The hope was knowing that we had a realistic chance of winning every game and with a proven and reliable track that resulted in a bowl game for the holidays.
But now, during and since RR's arrival, the economy is worse, the lions and pistons are bad, tigers are mediocre. The lack of success in recent years of Mich football is resulting in the lack of hope that people despirately want and need. I do blame people who are upset as its been a rough few years in their everyday lives as well as their "escape" Just like a line in which i am paraphrasing from the movie "Pretty Woman"(i was forced to watch it with the lady), it is easier to believe and accept the negative than it is for the postive".
Maybe wrong place at wrong time for RR with everything else going on in the world, maybe he can bring hope and is able to restore the light or maybe Harbough is "a new hope". Whomever is the coach, I hope that the light is restored and with some haste or it could be ugly.

A couple of years ago while I was living in Nebraska, I had met this girl and we eventually dated. After a night out, we capped the night with a little playtime and after I finished, I yelled "Go Blue". As of this day, I do not know what compelled me to yell it but I did find out that she was a Michigan fan and yelling "Go Blue" became some sort of tradition after that certain activity.

We are living in an era in which news and information about a situation is needed right away. If there is a "dead period" in where we do not get updates, it makes everyone paranoid, anxious and vocal. With the prevalence of the 24 hour news channels, the internet, or any other medium in where information is a click away, I feel that the trends (such as trying to interpret every word that Brandon, RR, or any other person of importance has to say) will only get worse and we are kind of seeing a microcosm of this right here.

my mom buys these korean mink blankets at this korean store in GR but i can assume that you can get them anywhere. I believe my two blankets cost around 100 dollars or so a piece. I sleep with two of them and they are sooo comfortable. I am kinda of like Linus of Charlie Brown and take it almost everywhere I go....where blankets are acceptable. Everyone loves them because it is soooo soft. Definately a recommendation. I bought a blanket for my college roommate cuz he kept stealing mine and it got him his first girl.

If my pillows could stay at a chill temperature, i'd fall asleep right away 100 percent of the time

I am starting to wonder how much of an emotional and physical toll RR is taking from this situation. Honestly, for the sake of health, it may be better to get an assurance from the AD or to just leave (this is not suppose to be a keep or fire RR portion). The pressures of being a HC at a well known university is hard enough on the body but with having your job status being limbo just compounds the problem. I know Michigan football/ athletics is important to some but i feel health is much more important (not calling RR weak but i think he is strong for going through this). I do not want/ wish upon anybody the situation that Dantonio had experience.

I didn't say that it wasn't RR's team, I'm just saying that giving him the credit of winning 2 games might be somewhat overstated and the game win is credited to Stewart (if you want it to take it literally). It was the team that he brought in and coached up to the end of the regular season. The game planning and coaching during the bowl season was mostly to those stayed. All in all, whomever is credited with winning the game is not really all that important.

RR only won 1 BCS game, the Sugar Bowl against Georgia I believe. The Fiesta Bowl game (in 2007) victory is credited to Bill Stewart as RR did not coach the game.

South Florida football program was started in 1997 and spent 4 years in 1-AA and then moved up to 1-A in 2001. They were pretty much a new and young program when they entered the Big East in 2005. Same thing with UConn, they were mostly a D1-AA program until they made the move to the Big East in 2004. With Rutgers being a poor team at the time and with Pitt struggling, the conference schedule was very favorable to WVU between 2004 through 2007.

Harbaugh went to a school that was horrible for many years and coming off a 1-10 year to boot. Stanford's football program does not have the prestige and history that Michigan has thus making it much harder to recruit. (as a side note, the academic requirements to be accepted into Stanford is very high just like Michigan so it did not do Harbaugh any favors in that regard)

in a recent interview Jon Stewart said "to those who we disagree with, we often demonize them but we angelize people who we agree with" I feel that the writers who cover Michigan sports have the right to criticise or applaud on the teams performance. People may or may not disagree but it has gotten to the point where people have resorted to personal attacks of these writers that seem to be unwarranted.

|3 years 21 weeks ago||I feel that RR has been||
I feel that RR has been outcoach as a HC in the ND game and the UMass game, if you take into account gameplanning and preparation for the game and the in-game adjustments, during the game with all aspects of the game; offense, defense, and special teams. As for RR as "co-offensive coordinator" he has been neutral or outcoaches the other coach, ie UConn. The ND game, I feel that if Crist wasn't injured, it could have possibly led to a different game but BK held it together and had a shot to win. Mich could have possibly ended the game by putting so much pressure on ND with a score or two. But this game is a toss-up really. The UMass game, the HC kept the game competitive until the end. Most, if not all, believe that this should have been an easy win. Indiana, the first half could have gone to Lynch but the second half and the adjustments is why I consider that RR outcoached Lynch. In conclusion, RR has outcoached as a HC in the UConn, BGSU, Indiana game, been somewhat outcoached (in my opinion but can really be a toss-up) in the ND game, marginally outcoached in the UMass game. The games that I am looking forward to to have a better indication of this "outcoaching or outcoached" debate are the Illinois (the key focus for mine because of how they have been playing as of late), PSU and Purdue.

Watching BTN recap of the day last Saturday, Mason was glowing. It was pretty funny to watch actually and i think Revsine and Dinardo were laughing as well. Mason was a good coach who won most of the games he should. The gophers thought they were more than what they were and expected Rose Bowls and higher tier bowls. I guess firing Mason blew up in their faces.

They entered D1 football in 1998 and I believe in 2002 went 12-1 and were ranked somewhere around 15. It is a qb factory producing Zabransky, Moore and Ryan Dinwiddie (played in 2002 prior to zabransky). Zabransky and Dinwiddie are both in the CFL. Also in 2002 they had a RB brock forsey who played in the NFL and scored against the Lions.

Long time reader, first time poster. I am trying to set up a dynasty on the ps3. My psn is edventure008. I'll send the invites once i get your psn. I am aiming to try to get one game a week and possibly two if possible. The settings are six minute quarters and all american levels in gameplay and recruiting. The only question would be if anybody want to do a mid major conference teams only with the opportunity for the top two able to move up to a bigger program, one star teams with the same opportunities or just pick whatever team you'd like. If there are any question, i'll try to answer in a timely fashion.
