Correction: Howard wasn't…

Correction: Howard wasn't the instigator. Gard was instigator number 1, Two Wisconsin assistants are instigators 2 & 3. If Gard doesn't stop Juwan, putting hands on him - it never escalates. Howard's reaction to strike the assistant coach was wrong and he should have been suspended three games - but the three Wisconsin coaches also should have been suspended one game each. A five game suspension is not proportional and stinks of rewarding privilege.

nun bun

I saw the nun bun on display in nashville, at the Bongo Java coffee house. I even bought the tour t-shirt. Sadly, it's been stolen. http://www.bongojava.com/bongo-java/nun-bun/

Only two outbursts

I kept it together through many phantom calls by the officials - which means i kept it bottled up and was just one more ridiculous call away from profanity. I'm not sure when it happened - likely in the last two minutes when things looked hopeless. I was given the lecture. Then when the final glorious dagger claiming victory from the jaws of defeat happened - I did what any reasonable fan would do. I erupted in sheer joy. Loudly. I heard a differently toned holler from the bedroom, went to explain how it could not be helped. Logic was lost on her.

Off topic - Is it wrong of me to be dissapointed that i didn't see any after images of man-bun's kid brother suffering after their loss? I so wanted to see his reaction.

kicker

What happened to the new kicker, Andrew David?

What about... Brisbane? Or better yet Porpoise Spit?
Strategy worked for ohio I can't remember a time Michigan could confidently go into a bowl game starting a third string QB.
I saw one on the eve of the announcement While driving west on 96 near Wixom. It wasn't like the ones done by the Bank of Ann Arbaugh.

No it was my fault...

I wasn't wearing my lucky maize and blue boxers. I feel terrible.

i wonder if he is pre-med

Then he should definitely change his name to Jeckyll when he transfers.

thought the same thing

I thought the same thing about the spot of the ball. Then when I saw Denard under center. I shook my head and said to my son, "nothing good can come from Denard being under center."

agreed

If Rich Rod were still our coach we'd be 7 - 0 right now.

Michigan wins

I don't believe MSU will keep Michigan to fewer than our lowest score (28 vs SDSU). The offense is too good to be shut down completely and our defense can score points.

I think the MSU offensive line will keep little brother from scoring touchowns until the game is out of reach.

Michigan Man litmus test

Must say "tremendous" to verify coaching lineage as an authentic Michigan man.

when i saw it

I thought to myself - I'm glad he was never hired at Michigan. I worked at CMU when Kelly was there. When Lloyd retired and Kelly's name came up on blogs for consideration it seemed like I was one of the few who disapproved. Add this out of control abuse to his players as further evidence that he should not be coaching anywhere. Intensity is fine, dissatisfaction with player performance sure, wanting to correct and teach an expectation - but to belittle, cuss out, verabally assault a player who makes a mistake - he went too far.

Northside - meh

I went to Northside because people raved about it - but found it to be nothing special. The epitome of "meh." Of course it's all very subjective and maybe I went on a bad day and didn't have the best thing on the menu. But I've never been disappointed at Angelo's or Afternoon Delight.

ABC for beer Grizzly Peak for food

I worked down the street from both and learned that I much prefer the beer at ABC (and I don't really like IPAs that much) but the food was rather meh. There must be something about the B's - my favorites are the Bavarian Bliss and the Brasserie Blonde. My wife really like's Grizzly Peak - and so i would go there for the food but felt the beer wasn't as good.

GD still there

Unless it closed in the last two years (we moved north) the Gandy Dancer is still there. It is my favorite of the nicer places in Ann Arbor. Even before we lived in Ann Arbor we would occasionally go there for special occasions and I think it has consistently maintained its excellent food and service over the years.

Totoro - best Sushi I've had

I thought Sadako was ok - but preferred Totoro (also closer to work). I really love the Yam Yam roll there. I haven't been to the other places.

Seva favorite

Seva has remained my favorite restaurant since I was a pre-teen 30 plus years ago. My sister was an undergrad and worked there at the time. My family was convinced that she introduced Birkenstocks to the rest of the staff. The fact that the place has remained in Ann Arbor so long (when other things come and go so frequently) is evidence that it must be doing something right. I've been to other outstanding vegetarian places (Evanston's Blind Faith Cafe) that might have more original vegetarian entrees - but I always know I'll have something fantastic at Seva.

good thai

I moved from Ann Arbor two years ago - the whole time there I struggled to find good Thai food. I agree with other comments on No Thai. There was a good but pricey place off Ann Arbor Saline Rd. - in the mall where Target is (Lotus Thai). But my favorite place was a remodeled Long John Silvers on Washtenaw east of 23 called Tuptim. I went there in May while passing through town and what I had was very good.

Duck Fuke (and the refs)

I think it was in the first half when the really obnoxious player for Puke (Sphincter or something like that) dropped the f-bomb on camera. I thought - oh yeah - now that just proves how much more classy they are than Michigan. The CBS announcers, the refs, all in for Duke - because they are so blessed saintly - makes me sick.

Imagine - just one of those gawd awful calls or no calls goes the other way and Michigan keps dancing.

Fred Jackson on snowmageddon

I wonder how Fred would describe the blizzard.

clearly overated

Clearly this Hokemania is overated. It's been more than 24 hrs without a welcome announcement for a new commitment. This new coaching staff is full of a bunch of slackers.

Sarcasm - ever heard of it?
that's a low blow...

With friends like us, who needs enemas?

Here we go!

Thanks - that's what I'm talking about!

Great point

I've been saying this too - so right about espn highlights missing this. It is nice that they now have a center to carry on that great tradition that had been missing since Hartings retired. I hope Pouncey can play in 2 weeks. I haven't heard anything about his injury.

Woodley, Foote, Mundy

The only thing I like better than the Steelers is Michigan. So as much as I like Woodson I want the Steelers to win and if they come out like tonight in the first half - all business - the they will win.

i remember this...

I moved from Mt. Pleasant to Ann Arbor in July 2006. I remember running into Herb on the concourse outside Michigan Stadium I don't think it was a game so it must have been a fan day event. I don't know him all that well - but everyone knows everyone in Mt. Pleasant. I asked him what he was doing there (he had a polo shirt with a Michigan logo). He told me that Lloyd had asked him if he wanted to help out. I think he had family in Ann Arbor too so it was a good fit after retiring as AD at CMU.

Rather

Woodley, Foote, Mundy win it all!

Mundy

I'm not sure Ryan Mundy keeps a spot on an NFL team (let alone one a game away from the superbowl) if it wasn't for a year with Barwis at WV. Seems like I read something somewhere awhile back about the very real difference in S&C programs related to this one player's development.

a good foundation for starters

Then plenty of strong floor joists, good solid sub floor and floor boards, probably not really important for support - but the little pucks under the feet are nice if it's on carpet. But why isn't this OT? I mean why should we care about supporting couches? Oh - sorry, what does it mean to be a "Coach Supporter" - not sure but I'm guessing something similar to an athletic supporter. Here's the ultimate way to support "the boys."

Wrong on at least two counts

1. 1000 times it's not Hoke's fault. I think it was one of the first things Brian said. Hoke is not being undermined.
<br>2. None of us has enough power to undermine the coach even if we wanted
<br>to. I'm so weary of the trite overused "get behind" coach/AD meme as if questioning the process and the AD is somehow akin to betrayal. Sounds like a pragmatic approach to me.

being skeptical can be

part of being realistic. I think many would agree that you can be a fan, skeptical about our chances of success and not be hypocritical.

The more I think about it this is the lamest hiring possible.

Time to protest! I'm one pissed off pastor

I absolutely can not simply "get behind" this hiring. We would have been better off keeping RR (I've said this all along). Seriously we should picket outside Brandon's office. Welcome to more losing and mediocrity.

Coach Ruffin

He's HC at East Carolina - I hadn't heard much about him but noticed that as a Coordinator at Texas Tech he helped them make vast improvement quickly on Defense AND special teams.

if ghosts are eligible..

Yost!

off the radar

Some unlikely candidates who are under the radar as either HC or Coordinator (in no particular order except the first guy because his name is awesome)

Ruffin McNeil

Larry Fedora

Mike Riley

Butch Jones

Jon Tenuta

Jeff Tedford

Bill Cowher

Of those often mentioned already as legit candidates (with some prioritization)

1. Gary Patterson

2. Mike Bellotti

3. Kyle Wittingham

4. Urban Meyer

5. Chris Peterson

Sorry kitty - no Hoke please, and I just have a bad feeling about Mullen.

A short list

In no particular order and assuming JH won't come and DB won't consider BH (please)
<br>
<br>The already mentioned Patterson and Peterson plus Mike Bellotti and Kyle Wittingham.

It's obvious

There were absolutely no half time adjustments made. Unless there was a nagging injury that we couldn't see that occured in the first half to Six Zero. I blame coaching - although there should have been an unsportswomanlike conduct penalty on the wife when she asked if the dress she was trying on made her look fat.

great post

That feeling Johnny identified in 2008 when it became clear that neither we nor Michigan had any idea what it was any more is obliterated. I've got an answer for the Courant now: Michigan is receivers blocking like tiny mountain goats 40 yards downfield because it matters, because if you set Denard free he'll go "AHHHH" at you afterwards. He'll smile and it will seem like the sun is poking through dark clouds, scattering colors in a circle all around you.

Well written - excellent work. Just one question. What's the diference (if any) between juju and mojo?

this is what i am talking about

Even rushing 4 on that play instead of three could have made the difference. The QB had too much time. I was going nuts. I found myself complaining before the snap - "please GERG don't rush just 3 - you'll get burned."

last week

I thought last week was blown out of proportion thanks to the tv commentary. His sitting alone on the bench in the 4th quarter under a towel made for irresponsible speculation. No one really can tell what he was thinking/feeling.

I think he probably learned that as long as cameras are around he will be under a microscope. He didn't give the media any reason to question his commitment or loyalty this weekend.
