Laphroaig 10? Quarter Cask?…

Laphroaig 10? Quarter Cask? Triple Wood? Cairdeas? What are we talking here? There was a great 60 Minutes segment on Islay and its whiskies this past Sunday. My favorite Laphroaig is Quarter Cask followed by 10 Cask Strength. All that said it was a Pilsner and Pale Ale for me out at dinner tonight.

It really is sad when the realization hits the season is over. Such a long time and lots of cold weather (for most of us) until September. IMO College Football is the best sports product in the world.

Part of why beating OSU is…

Part of why beating OSU is so tough is because they have no fear of UM. They never play tight in The Game. They're used to winning and expect to beat Michigan every time. Obviously this was different in the Cooper years. A UM win in Columbus could change that dynamic for years to come. Yeah, yeah, I know, "Thanks Captain Obvious."

Good things would happen…

Good things would happen like being down two touchdowns to Iowa at halftime and figuring out a way to win.

His range

gives UM a considerable chance at points where other kickers wouldn't. That's an attribute that could lead to being top ten or possibly top five in Michigan history. Still too early to tell. His distance today is far more impressive than kickers of the (distant) past using rubber block tees.

I still don't understand

JH in IU's locker room during a game against Michigan. I'm sure it's been justified by some but that's out of bounds imo. You simply can't do it, even for your brother-in-law. You're paid millions of dollars to represent UM. Don't be in an opposing team's locker room when they're competing against Michigan, particularly when they're kicking our *ss. No, I'm not a troll. Yes, we all make mistakes. Of course I still love JH but let's be honest about this one.

Hey,

you got your points back. Nice! Glad you're feeling better.

Wikipedia

says he's been hired. So there's that:

"Alfonza "Pep" Hamilton (born September 19, 1974) is an American football coach who is the current Passing Game Coordinator and quarterback coach for the University of Michigan."

Les

Miles!

Are we really

that confident this wasn't a mutual decision? It's not like JH can't attract elite assistants. Clearly the University will pay for them. Maybe JH wants to switch things up. Not saying Fisch isn't a very good coach but isn't UM supposed to have the BEST assistants available?

Thanks. Serious question:

Are the girlie pics on TTB there to increase website traffic or for those of us with short attention spans? Or both?

You're not breaking any new rules...

Unless you haven't read what's been posted circa 2009.

Thank you.

Very well said. In an attempt to lessen frustration for all in 2017 will you post updated rules/guidelines for creating threads? Many of us are happy to play by the rules but they need clarification. Yes, Brian posted some rules in 2009 via MGoBoard FAQ but a lot has changed since then. No need to throw things or put your head through the laptop screen!

He did call

at least one very good game vs OSU. ND game calls weren't horrible either.

They did.

Their defense was fantastic as was their o-line play with Pugh back. They did a great job running the ball. Was just their day. It happens.

How about

the Giants played great today at home?

I have.

I got a Genesis response: "No Reply at All."

I've read those rules many times.

They were posted over seven years ago. Seven. IMO they need to be updated and expanded. It's okay to post a "What are you drinking thread?" for the 100th time but a reasonable thread with a coaching question per se gets deleted? Makes no sense to me what stays and disappears here. Happy to play by the rules but please make them clear. An update every few years seems reasonable.

Is it such a strange idea

to have mods put out updated clear cut rules for posting? Wouldn't that save a lot of bashing that happens everyday on this blog? Participants are not on the same page as to what's threadworthy and what's not. Why not make it clear? Neg me for such an irrational statement.

Love it

Done. This is what Michigan people (and other good people) do.

Reminds me of Bo and Butch Woolfolk

but in reverse. IIRC Bo was upset Butch ran track.

Some of us were alive

and actually attended games back then, pre "Big House" days. I distinctly remember being aware of the Rocky Mountains as I sat in the south end zone watching George Rogers and SC defeat UM. What a bummer that was at the time. 1-2. Ouch!

Thank you. Where is that t-shirt?

Harvard. The Michigan of The East.

Why it's Molk

There are only a handful of linemen in the NFL it can be possibly be. He talks about being under 285 pounds. His mother dying when he was young is a major theme throughout the book. He talks about an MCL injury during his college career at a major program. The book mentions him being one of the top linemen in the nation in college (i.e. Rimington Trophy winner). I can go on and on (several online reviews do) but if you read it there's no way you'll say it could be someone else.

What's childish

is a pro athlete making stupid tweets that reflect poorly on himself, his sponsors and an institution he's not even affiliated with. Hence the reason he deleted it.

Maybe so but he should know better than to tweet stupid comments. And it was stupid.
Zach Johnson

should know better. He's won two majors and many other tournaments as a pro golfer including The British Open last year. It's not like he's a stranger to social media. I get that he loves Iowa, but he didn't even go there. He went to Drake. The Tweet did nothing to help him or Iowa so he deleted it. His referring to JH as "Khakis" reminds me of frustrated Penn State fans back in November at Happy Valley. They were all upset whenever Jim complained to officials regardless of whether he had a point. Stop being frustrated because our coach is better than yours. Grow up or get a better coach yourself. If you can.

Out the window I take it after tonight's two commitments we can throw this idea out the window?
The only thing unexpected about Durkin

was him laying an egg in preparing for and coaching in tOSU game. I'm not saying it was easy. I'm not saying a better scheme or better in game adjustments would have changed the outcome. It was simply was a mediocre at best performance by Durkin. Behind closed doors I think Harbaugh was quite p*ssed off getting blown out at home after giving Durkin the flexibility to interview during game week. IMO Durkin showed his youth in the way he handled his last few weeks at Michigan. It's okay to consider another job when you're currently employed, but don't lay an egg in the most important game of the season for your boss and mentor.

Obviously

you don't read much.

Would UM win every game

if they had 21 clones of Peppers to play every position on both sides of the ball? The simple answer is yes due to speed, strength and athleticism, but I wonder how he'd match up against opposing linemen.

My father's autographed picture of Remy Hamilton

kicking the game winning field goal as time expired at Notre Dame Stadium on September 10, 1994. The cool thing is we were both there together that beautiful Saturday in South Bend.

I wonder if

an experienced deputy could be found to help bring him up to speed.

Simple.

It's December and dark most of the time. We need light boxes for all of us in order to get the courtesy and love flowing again.

The danger is

unlike the rest of us, MGoBlog staff know where we all live.

2006 defense

looked great until they gave up 26 points and almost lost to Hoke and Ball State, then had tOSU run right up the middle for substantial gains, followed by USC and Calvin Johnson embarrassingly hammering Morgan Trent and UM in the Rose Bowl. I liked Ron English too, but there are many other candidates with far less baggage and equal or better qualifications that want the job.

It's amazing to think

this woman is the same actress who was Jake Ryan's (no, not that Jake Ryan) hot blond girlfriend in Sixteen Candles. Remember the one who wakes up with Anthony Michael Hall in a car in the parking lot? Missing some hair if IIRC.

What is JH going to do

when he sees us all acting like this? We'll never be left home alone again! Seven years of college down the drain...

Luke

Fickell joins Michigan to get even with tOSU for demoting him after only one subpar season.

No.

Maryland won't be able to outbid Michigan to keep whomever Harbaugh wants.

Agreed,

and frankly he may have illustrated the danger of having a young D coordinator if indeed he let his next job interfere with producing the best possible scheme for tOSU.

Make that triple post

Computer is screwed up. Sorry.

You're correct,

and that's why UM needs to continue to hone it's recruiting scheme/message as well as improve results on the field. They need to continue making inroads out East for instance. They've obviously had success in NJ of late. In the Midwest everyone's familiar with both Michigan and State. Out here it's a lot different. I suspect the same is true in California and perhaps Florida. Michigan's academic, athletic and alumni success is very visible and well known. State? It's just another university out there somewhere west of Pennsylvania. UM needs to continue working to best leverage it's well known platform of excellence. Targeting recruits on the coasts and in Florida (which Harbaugh has started doing) is a great example.

Sorry for

the double post.

It's always the parents

who want their kids to go to Michigan over State. The kids see what's hot, fresh and choose it. I guess they don't appreciate a powerful alumni network that can help them in virtually any profession they choose after football. Somehow UM needs to get this message across better to teenage recruits. The parents realize their kids are choosing a Mercury over a Mercedes for the same price.

David Harris,

Prescott Burgess & Shawn Crable.

Would rather have

seen OSU beat MSU. A lot of air came out of me (yes, there's a lot) watching the end of that game while waiting for a table in State College. Though I've been in a funk recently as have many of you, recent events are going to lead to even greater things for Michigan Athletics. Last Saturday's game is the jump the shark moment for tOSU Football. I know I'll be downvoted but I really do believe it. Either way Michigan is greatness and the past few weeks are small bumps in the road.
