I keep forgetting that Maryland is joining the B1G this year. How is their basketball team right now? Are they competing with us for any recruits?

And the trend with Beilein continues...
What happens if he gets the #1 recruit in the country one day? Will they have to create a higher ranking since all of Beilein's recruits turn out to be better than originally thought?

But it's a lot easier to get into the first round when it isn't a stacked draft. He should have left last year. That said, it would be a mistake to leave this year.

Raw, athletic, and lanky. High release point on his shot. Not afraid of going into the lane and drawing contact. Seems like a Beilein type of kid.

Not unexpected, but still sad.
Go forth and be awesome! Blue for life.

Yeah, I know it isn't news. And honestly I posted it, not because it shows what the "tweak" was, but because it's another example of the media giving way too much credit where it simply isn't deserved. You made a tweak? You're a genius! It turns out it wasn't a tweak? You're a genius for calling it a tweak.
There are a lot of successful NCAA basketball coaches who deserve a ton of credit. Calipari is not one of them, and yet there are certain media types (again, I know this guy is a nobody) who WILL find a way to give him credit regardless.

I don't think one affects the other. I still think Mitch McGary probably stays. But either way, we'll be fine.

I know that "#VALUE!" is simply what Excel says when an equation doesn't work, but it still made me giggle. Pass it along to Crean - he could use a laugh.

I'll go with our boys. But I think we should focus on making it even less of a close call next year. Let's go all the way!

Kentucky recruits some of the same players as us (ex. Devin Booker). Therefore, I want Kentucky to lose. Nuff said.

Anybody who takes offense to this video needs to take a chill pill. OBVIOUSLY there are a lot of white basketball players who are very good, but there's a reason that there's a well known movie called "White Men Can't Jump." It's a funny stereotype just like the overenthusiastic sports fans (Chris Farley and the Bears), the uptight church lady (Dana Carvey), and the ridiculous boy band (Lonely Island). Obviously this won't be a running joke because there's only so much you can do with it, but it's still funny.
EDIT: Also I love the bit about the white guy who "takes charges," and you can clearly see the ref in the background indictating that it's a blocking foul.

I would also like to have seen him offered, but at a non-QB position. He's simply not a good fit for a pro-style offense. I'm not heartbroken over this one.
On the other hand, if he ends up doing well for Nebraska and gashing us for big yards, I will be slightly less happy.

Dammit! Totally felt for it. I didn't figure it out until I checked the date.

This team grew up so, so much from the beginning of the season until the end. If anybody is angry about this ending, they don't know how to set expectations.
Only regret is that JMo couldn't should his stuff in the Final Four.

If you have a shaky kicker, though, it does make you consider the 2 point pay off from 2 yards away.

Are we no longer on the top of Damien Harris' list? Would Weber be less likely to come here if we get Harris again?

You can do whatever you want. Just don't expect a positive reaction on a MICHIGAN sports board.

He also tried to play both sides in the UM-OSU rivalry.
Clearly, he is a Michigan troll in disguise.

I actually think YOU might have jinxed. Six points off the lead since you posted.
|6 weeks 1 day ago||I would disagree. There are||
I would disagree. There are several factors to be considered other than just employment statistics. And I would argue that while employment may be very, very important, the way it is calculated for U.S. News purposes is flawed, and therefore it's importance to the rankings is appropriately discounted. What counts as "post-graduate" employment for a law student is a very manipulable concept, and Michigan MAY be at a disadvantage in how it keeps track of the statistic due to the scrutiny it receives as a public university.
|6 weeks 1 day ago||I'm a little disappointed||
I'm a little disappointed that the law school is tied for 10th with Duke. We have been consistently in the "Third Tier" of top law schools with UVa, UPenn, and Berkley, so this is a bit of a downgrade. Oh well.

It's probably more informed than most of the conjecture that will occur on this thread, though.
By the way, I was not the one that down-voted you.
|6 weeks 2 days ago||My dog would be Jordan||
My dog would be Jordan Morgan. He isn't very big, he has a lot of character, and he has been around forever (15 years old this year). On the other hand, he pees around the house when he doesn't get enough playing time, which is kind of the opposite of Morgan.

Argh! I was very happy to hate Payne for playing for MSU and being a general bully on the court, and now you have to throw THIS at me? I can't hate a guy who does this kind of work off the court. So frustrating...

Except for the Pistons. The Pistons have a shrine to Joe Dumars. Joe Dumars uber alles.
Internal Pistons conversation (I haz connections):
JoeD: "Can we draft Joe Dumars?"
Random Front Office Person: "Sir, you are Joe Dumars. No, we cannot draft you."
JoeD: "Then can we draft a guy who plays like me?"
RFOP: "That's what we are trying to do."
JoeD: "Good. But since we can't draft Joe Dumars, make sure that whoever we draft doesn't overshadow Joe Dumars."
RFOP: "Well, there's this kid who plays for Michigan who has a great vision, can shoot, can pass..."
JoeD: "Do they like him at Michigan?"
RFOP: "Yes. They love him. Drafting him would definitely boost attenda-"
JoeD: "Skip him. We must not overshadow Joe Dumars."
|7 weeks 19 hours ago||I think you could make a||
I think you could make a solid argument for Jordan Morgan. As was said in the JMo appreciation thread, he's a guy who wasn't supposed to get an offer, and yet has played a key role in Michigan basketball's return to prominence. Novak left before the program really hit its stride, and Burke grew what was already a growing wave to ridiculous levels. However, Morgan embodies a bit of each. He helped to start the wave, and is now making contributions WAY above his recruiting profile.
|7 weeks 2 days ago||What are you basing that||
What are you basing that assumption on? And do you have any legal background? Because "canned language" can be a scary proposition if a multi-billion dollar organization is the one that is producing the "canned language." I am taking Employment Law right now and, while most contracts are not on par with what Suh will be getting, I have no doubt that there is legalese and complicated legal precedent associated with NFL contracts that could spell the difference between a great contract and an awful contract for Suh.
For instance (and this won't be relevant to Suh's deal), did you know that a contract providing for "employment for life" is equivalent to "I can fire you at any time without repercussion"?
|7 weeks 2 days ago||As a law student who has||
As a law student who has taken a basic Contracts course, this seems like a terrible idea. NFL contracts are not just a matter of "I will pay you X amount for Y years." The legal field is a mess of jargon, disclaimers, and words that may or may not mean what you think they mean. Unless Suh has been studying NFL contracts since he made it to the NFL, this probably won't work out well. There is a reason that agents get a significant slice of the pie when contracts are signed -- their expertise is very valuable and can spell the difference between a fair contract and one that is "fair" according to an NFL organization's team of lawyers.
