People like to say it's a…

People like to say it's a talent disparity because the truth makes us shit on the players. They're mentally fragile and inconsistent. The defensive line is undersized and gets bullied against the run when the opponent has skill and size. Hudson can't stick to his assignment and hold the edge...it's a repeat of the Wisconsin game. Metellus was burned multiple times because he wasn't focused on staying deep. The WRs got the yips at halftime.

This loss is much, much worse than last season. At least last season we could say they were on the road and it was Urban's last game so they amped up their play. There are zero excuses this season.

All we can do now is sit around waiting for the bowl game. My money is on the Holiday Bowl against Washington...who is the opponent to start the 2020 regular season (Michigan's Florida of the 2020's?).

Michigan 41-Ohio State 31

Michigan 41-Ohio State 31

Michigan is red hot right now, they have home field advantage against a team which hasn't played a competitive team on the road yet this year, Fields health is in question, and Michigan has enough athletes on both side of the ball to make big plays.

Michigan will beat them at their own game on offense...spread them wide with Nico, DPJ, Black, Bell, and Jackson/Sainristil. I expect those freshman to get a mismatch and have a big game. To keep them honest Haskins and Charbonnet will combine for about 20 carries with at least one run of 15+ yards from both.

On defense, Fields will get hit hard early and have to leave for a few series, which will make the OSU offense sputter, while Michigan capitalizes at least once on offense while Fields is out. McGrone has the athleticism to slip blocks and will limit Dobbins. The D-line won't get a push, but unlike last year it won't be as fatal because Fields is a RB that can somewhat throw where as Haskins was a QB that could run. Not giving him anywhere to run will result in sacks and at least one pick.

PSU got the memo. Go heavy…

PSU got the memo. Go heavy play action on tOSU because they have an attack mentality at the 2nd level.

First off, having to play…

First off, having to play Florida again sucked. They should have had Florida v. UCF in the Peach Bowl and Michigan-LSU in the Fiesta Bowl.

Secondly, there is nothing special about the Peach Bowl. It's just a blah bowl game. The Rose Bowl is a huge deal. It's the biggest bowl game outside of a playoff game because of the history, location, and everything else associated with it.

I don't think he was…

I don't think he was agreeing with fire Harbaugh...he's agreeing that Shea (and the other QBs) don't make the correct read. I'm starting to think they determine who they'll throw to pre-snap. I re-watched the game and there were at least half a dozen times they forced a ball to a receiver that was double or triple covered when the check down was wide open.

All decisions should be…

All decisions should be postponed until after the Maryland game the first week of November since their next bye week which is the 2nd weekend of November. That gives them 2 weeks to adapt to any changes.

That gives them 6 games, 3 of the opponents are ranked, to try and turn things around. I think he's lost the locker room and expect them to win 3 or 4 games during this span.

This team has played sloppy…

This team has played sloppy and looked uninspired every game this season and going back into last season. The DC is one dimensional and has been exposed. Harbaugh seems indifferent. Change is looking like it’s needed if there isn't a quick turn around.

It's not the loss that bothers me. It's them looking confused after a bye week, the multiple turnovers again, and being so mentally fragile/looking uninspired.

Outside of the turnovers, I…

Outside of the turnovers, I think it was a pretty solid game for the first game of the season. They got a double digit win against a scrappy and solid Bowl caliber non-power 5 FBS team. On to Army which should be a really tough game.

Mount Everest has become…

Mount Everest has become amateur hour. Summiting it really just shows how much money you have, how willing you are to take the credit for others work, and a high tolerance for waiting in line. The majority of these people shouldn't be there and are putting themselves and others are risk, especially the sherpas.

If you want to be a badass climber go climb K2, Cerro Torre, Denali, or the unknown Mount St. Elias*.

*The most badass mountain IMO is Mount St. Elias in Alaska. It's overlooked because it's the 2nd highest mountain in the US and 3rd highest in North America, but to summit a person has to overcome: bears at lower altitude, frequent storms (it's only 35 miles from the Pacific) that bring heavy snow and hurricane force winds at high altitude year round, dealing with the largest glaciers outside of Antarctica and Greenland, and 18,000 feet of vertical relief in 10 miles...and if you get in trouble there is no rescue crew.

Just got done watching a condensed version of the game...

Huge defensive let down. Brown needs to be on the hot seat.

The defense, especially in the 2nd half, was a turd. The tackling in the 2nd half sucked and it’s pretty clear to me that Brown can’t adapt. Back to back games with zero adjustments when there are massive holes is pathetic.

Spread Michigan wide and a) run the QB or b) throw slants because Michigan won’t adapt to stop them because of a weird obsession with man coverage. When playing against a team that like to run the QB and or has elite speed on the outside zone needs to be the base coverage.

I think Don Brown will become an insomniac after the last two games.

The overall offensive approach was decent. I think there were a few too many inside runs and terrible time management. They need to stop running Evans up the middle. He’s best utilized as a receiver out of the backfield and for trick plays.

It was nice to see some pistol and a good amount of 3 and 4 wide shotgun formations. A little more RPO would have been nice. If we could get that 3rd drive of the game for 80%+ of the drives that would be awesome.

They have 3 NFL caliber WRs (Collins, Peoples-Jones, and Black), 2 dynamic athletes (Bell and Evans), 2 solid backs (Turner and Wilson), and an OL that's decent and improving…they need more consistency at QB and a 60-40 pass to run ratio with a lot of pistol and or 3 or 4 wide formations.

There needs to be a QB competition for next season. Patterson isn’t consistent enough to be given the job. There were some WTF moments from him in this game…What was with that throw on 4th and 15 with 2:18 to go? How can an upper classman be so terrible with time management? How can an upper classman get a delay of game on the first play after a kick off?

The best unit was special teams. Good work special teams.

Completely agree...

Hoping…

Completely agree...

Hoping it plays out like this:

Cotton Bowl: Alabama v. Oklahoma

Orange Bowl: Clemson v. Notre Dame

Sugar Bowl: Georgia v. Texas

Rose Bowl: Ohio State v. Washington

Peach Bowl: Florida v. UCF

Fiesta Bowl: Michigan v. LSU

Ohio State is a different…

Ohio State is a different team at home…Ohio State average scores during regulation...

Home: 51 to 21

Away: 33 to 32

And as we all know, Michigan is also a different team at home...

It's a combination of another slow start, not capitalizing in the red zone with enough TDs, and disastrous consecutive drives in the third quarter (they were only down 8 points in a hostile environment playing far form their best against a very talented team and then boom...blocked punt for a TD followed by an interception which led to a TD drive...14 points for Ohio State in a minute 40). The injuries didn't help either.

Harbaugh and company need to…

Harbaugh and company need to enter the 21st century. The name of the game is an explosive, high powered offense loaded with high ceiling athletes in the skill positions and a mobile QB with an athletic, fast defense that’s clutch.

Of the five teams looking for a playoff spot, four of them are the top 4 offenses (Oklahoma, Ohio State, Clemson, and Alabama in descending order), while defensively only two are in the top 10 for total defense (Alabama at #6 and Clemson at #7…Ohio State is 67th and Oklahoma is 111th!) [Notre Dame is 27th in total offense and 22nd in total defense].

Michigan has the weapons. They just need to utilize them properly.

If Michigan had the #1 offense and 46th ranked D (instead of #1 D and 46th offense) I'm willing to bet they'd be undefeated if they had a modern offensive attack.

For the most part it looks…

For the most part it looks like the Rose Bowl or Fiesta Bowl. Michigan is too big and had too good of a season for any other Bowl game. If Michigan gets the Fiesta Bowl bring on Cajun Hoke. I think LSU is the best overall team Michigan could face which is good long term.

Bowl Projections as of the…

Bowl Projections as of the last 2 days...

24/7: Rose Bowl v. Pac 12 champ (more than likely Washington)

Athlon: Rose Bowl v. Pac 12 champ (more than likely Washington)

SI: Peach Bowl v. Florida

CBS Sports:  Rose Bowl v. Pac 12 champ (more than likely Washington)

Orlando Sentinel: Fiesta Bowl v. UCF

ESPN: Both analysts/writers have Michigan in the Fiesta Bowl; Kyla Bonagura has Michigan v. Washington State. Mitch Sherman has Michigan v. LSU

Outside of CFP games, the…

Outside of CFP games, the bowl games are exhibition games, so there is no reason to not get creative and experiment.

On offense more zone read and a decent amount of 5 WR sets.

On defense some zone blitzing.

I would also like to see potential 2019 starters get a decent amount of playing time and each QB to get equal time. Patterson's the starter (if he returns...which he should), but it's good to give each back up some time against a quality opponent just in case Patterson decides to leave or gets injured next season.

Get rid of Pep and install…

Get rid of Pep and install the Pistol offense like when he was with the 9ers...the offense I thought they were originally going to have. It gives the QB the option to hand it off, throw it if there is a mismatch they like, or keep it. They have enough athleticism at RB and QB to make it work, and I think Patterson can make the correct reads.

Whoever is in their last…

Whoever is in their last season I want to see their future replacement get a 1 quarter to play if it's the Rose Bowl and any other Bowl game give the back ups a half of "real" game action in this fancy exhibition game. For guys that sit out to protect themselves for the draft I'd like to see a rotation of different guys.

Any game action is a positive and the game tape from a quality opponent in a Bowl game is a good thing to analyze for off-season training.

As of 11/24 at 10 PM CT

CBS Sports: Rose Bowl v. Washington

SI: Peach Bowl v. LSU

The best excuse is Ohio…

The best excuse is Ohio State had more/better athletes.

C'mon guys...Michigan was out coached. Ohio State's offensive game planners are much better than the Michigan defensive game planners. They exploited weaknesses on D time after time. Michigan was 1) too arrogant to fix them before the game and 2) too slow to fix them in the game.

Leaving a 4.7 or 4.8 guy on an island against sub 4.4.guys is a recipe for disaster. Ignoring the obvious weakness to crossing routes i.e. stubbornly sticking to man coverage is a recipe to disaster. Not stunting and or blitzing more when the front 4 alone can't get pressure and sitting back is getting you torched is a recipe to disaster.

This game showed me 1 thing...Don Brown can't adapt and now it's out there on how to beat his defense. This off-season he needs to come up with a back up plan or better yet, but less likely... scheme against each opponent based on their strengths. Teams like Indiana and Ohio State need to be games where the zone blitz is the game plan.

It's nice to see them with…

It's nice to see them with 10 wins, but another season without winning a Big Ten championship (or at least the East Division) and no CPF is a disappointment. It really leaves me with a meh feeling.

People need to stop saying…

People need to stop saying it's a lack of athletes...they were out coached. There are things on offense that I would like to see change, but they scored 39 points. That should be enough to win. I'll rant about them later.

The issue today was the defense. Don Brown crapped the bed, and after the last two weeks it's out there...you beat his defense by bunching WRs that run crossing routes. He's going to have to adapt his defensive philosophy like as soon as that formation is seen switch to zone coverage.

What bothers me...not adapting to zone coverage to begin the game especially after what happened against Indiana. That's just arrogant ignorance.

Within the game it is no stunts and not blitzing more guys when the front 4 couldn't create pressure and the DBs were getting burnt (especially Watson), and not switching to zone sooner.

At some point you have to think to yourself...we can't stop them playing passively, so let's send 5 or 6 guys every down with at least 1 stunt. Let's move Watson to the slot where he can play zone and I'll send him on a blitz once every 5 or 6 downs. Sticking him on an island to get abused time after time is pretty effin' stupid.

That went from embarrassing…

That went from embarrassing to insane to…WTF Michigan defense.

Their OL has trouble with movement, so have the DL stunt more. More zone protection I want to see some misdirection twist blitzes i.e. load up the left come from the right.

I really want to see them roll Patterson out…if Patterson has room let him run. Honestly drop him back, if nobody is open through one scan, run the ball. It's better than forcing a pass or taking a sack. Stop running with Evans. It’s Higdon, Mason, or throw the ball. I like Evans in space as a passing option like on that TD pass. It’s a one TD game so where they go from here is up to the D.

Ohio State gets the ball to start the 2nd half. If the D can wake up and stop them, get back to a balanced north-south between the tackles running game (with some RPO and or out of a spread formation) with some short passes in there. If Ohio State gets any points Michigan needs to be more pass oriented.

Two things bothering me so…

Two things bothering me so far...

-D line isn't bringing it. Do the twist...

-Getting away from north-south running and short passing game on offense. Pound it north-south.

I definitely don't feel bad…

I definitely don't feel bad about the season after losing on the road to a higher ranked team in the first game of the season by a touchdown. Outside of the sluggish, undisciplined start and the awful clock management to end the game it wasn't as bad as some people think. This doesn't mean I think they played well. There are some things they need to improve immediately (not having slow, undisciplined starts, their 4th quarter clock management, and pass blocking against stunts to name a few), but the sky isn't falling at this point.

However, I think a lot of people aren't factoring in how good this Notre Dame team is. When playing a good team they're going to make plays. ND have one of the best O-Lines in the FBS...between 7th and 12th depending on the source with 2 NFL caliber linemen. They also some solid NFL talent at each level of their D...Tillery, Hayes, Coney, Tranquill, and Love. This Notre Dame team could end up being the 2nd or 3rd best team they play this season (behind Ohio State and even with or slightly better or worse than Wisconsin).

Great Sand Dunes National Park

is my favorite from the ones I've ever visited. 5 dunes over 700 feet high with the highest being 750 feet high. It's really amazing to see in person. It's like being on another planet.

The ones I want to visit the most would be Isle Royale National Park and Redwoods National Park.

I stream

I've had Sling, Hulu TV, Vue, and DirecTV Now.

DirecTV Now has the best selection of channels. Vue has the best streaming quality IMO. Sling was okay. Not a fan of Hulu TV. It wouldn't stop buffering more often than not.

Not the best mock...

Packers need an LB and CB more than they need a WR.

Meh...

It wasn't tired legs. It was Nova having a guy that was red hot and his teammates making sure he got the ball.

It could be 6 teams, but....

the top 2 teams would have to get byes to the semifinal. 8 teams would be more entertaining.

-Conference champs from the P5 schools get auto bid and take slots 1-5.

6,7, and 8....

-Notre Dame auto bid if in top 8.

-Non-P5 conference champ gets auto bid if in top 10.

-Remaining slots got to top P5 teams.

-I would limit it to 3 teams for each conference in the 8 team playoff.

Round of 8 the higher ranked team hosts the week after the conference championship game. There could be a Friday night game and 3 games on Saturday.

Winners of Round of 8 go to aligned semi. Losers get placed in appropriate bowl game.

So it would look like...

Penn State (Wld Card #3)* at Clemson (ACC Champ)

Wisconsin (Wild Card #2) at Oklahoma (Big 12 Champ)

Alabama (Wild Card #1) at Georgia (SEC Champ)

USC (Pac 12 Champ) at Ohio State (Big 10 Champ)

*Based on how badly Auburn lost in the SEC game I'd give the third wild card spot to Penn State.

I don't think...

people should be mellow or accepting of what is happening.

Yeah most people had them as an 8 to 10 win team, which they're in line to be, but nobody had Michigan State as a loss and most thought the Penn State game would be a respectable loss. Outside of the Florida win they've looked meh in victory. Inexperience really isn't it. It's the play calling and the lack of a killer instinct from the players.

Coaches seem to have a one size fits all approach to play calling, which on it's own is dumb, but especially on offense where they lack an identity. On defense, as good as Brown is, he gaffed big time last night by not calling more zone. Penn State owned the middle of the field. It seemed like most of the night it was the QB taking off from 10+ yard runs and quick slants for 10+ yards.

The killer instinct (or lack of it): It's not all of the guys, but enough to be noticeable. Outside of the Florida game the starts have been flat. Thankfully Michigan got it together quick enough last night to make it somewhat of a game for about a quarter plus, but it really is inexcusable. I can see it against lesser conference teams and most out of conference schlub teams, not that it's acceptable then, but to look that flat against Michigan State and then Penn State...not acceptable. This team is going to get other team's best effort, and they aren't exceeding or even matching their opponent's focus and effort for a full 60.

I'd go with O'Korn

as the starter for the rest of the season. If they're in another blowout, which is possible, I'd give Peters some reps. Assuming they make it into a bowl game I'd give Peters at least a quarter.  There is no reason to throw him into the spotlight right now with this mess they have. Don't want to mess with a young QBs confidence.

Cole needs to move to center...

His athleticism, blocking abilities, and experience are better suited at center than LT in this system.

LT- Bredeson

LG- Kugler

C- Cole

RG-Onwenu

RT- Runyan Jr.

Looking at the +/- scoring they should consider bulking up Wheatley and making him an OT next season.

Well...

This is a young team, and I hope they learned some lessons that will stay with them for the rest of their time at Michigan...

3rd straight game they were sleep walking through the 1st half. Can't play for 30 minutes and expect to win. If they want to be champs they have to play extremely focused and at their highest intensity for 60 minutes.

Can't have 5 turnovers and expect to win. If they want to be champs they have to do a better job securing the ball.

As for the play calling...I expect better from this staff. They have to do a better job attacking their opponent’s weaknesses. Running between the tackles isn't it again MSU.

Yikes...

Sleep walking through another first half. I understand it against Air Force and Purdue, but against Michigan State...come on.

Play calling is terrible. MSU has over aggressive LBs. They completely sell out against the run...call some play action. Looks like they're mostly playing man...get some crossing routes and focus on the short passing game. Maybe call some screens.

On D force him to his left...get him throwing off his back foot.

Go Huskies

They have a mobile QB, some deep threats, and a decent D. Not saying they'll win, but it should be better than what the pundits say it will be.

Man

that missed 2 point conversion is a killer. Also not showing up for the 1st quarter and barely being conscious for 2-2 1/2 quarters after that hurts.

Three teams are in...

Bama, Ohio State, and Washington...

Clemson wins and they're in.

Clemson loses and Wisconsin wins...Wisconsin is in the playoff and Michigan probably plays Clemson in the Orange Bowl. PSU gets the Rose Bowl.

Clemson loses and Penn State wins...Michigan should get into the playoff, Penn State plays Clemson in the Orange Bowl, and Wisconsin gets the Rose Bowl.

Wake the fuck up

Terrible 2nd half performance.

One of the better nights of my life...

Cubs get to the WS, Michigan is going to be the #2 team, and the Blackhawks had a great comeback. I still remember that 2003 NLCS Game 6 vividly. Screw you Alex Gonzalez. It was him not Bartman that costed them.

The point of polls...

is to rank the quality of teams in descending order like a power ranking. The average of FPI (or similar stat) and team efficiency is the best way in my opinion...it would look like this for the upcoming week:

1. Louisville

2. Alabama

3. Michigan

4. Ohio State

5. Florida State

6. Clemson

7. Texas A&M

8. Washington

9. Houston

10. Stanford

11. Boise State

12. Miami (FL)

13. Ole Miss

14. Colorado

15. LSU

16. Kansas State

17. Wisconsin

18. Western Michigan

19. UCLA

20. Tennessee

21. Baylor

22. North Carolina

23. Auburn

24. Iowa

25. Oklahoma State

My money...

is on Petrino or Briles at LSU. I think Herman would only leave Houston for Texas or USC.

Cult-like...

Pretty sure it is a cult, and they're wasted on Joe Pa Kool Aid.

ND is...

a tire fire, and the funny thing is that before NSD 2016 they gave Kelly a 6 year extension. No doubt their D was terrible, but outside of the 4th quarter their O play calling was just as bad. MSU isn't bad, but they aren't great. If Michigan approaches that game with a pass heavy attack they should win by double digits. Even though Oklahoma normally craps the bed in big games and doesn't look that good, Ohio State looks legit.

ND is doing...

what they should have been doing the entire game...abandoning the run and sticking to the pass.

That's what I ask myself...

If I was an OC going up against MSU I'd throw the ball 90% of the time, and at least 75% of those passes would be on play action.

ND...

with Kizer at QB is a really good team. They should win...30-13.

I was a junior in high school

outside of Chicago. There were rumors durng 2nd period that something happened in NYC. In 3rd period, which was gym class for me, there was a formal announcement.

It's nice having a coaching staff...

that is quick to make adjustments. The run isn't there, so focus on throwing the ball and slowly work the running game back in. On defense it would be nice to see single safety high with a safety moving down to take away the one thing they have...QB runs.

Yeah, except...

the promotion is officially titled "Commemoration of the 50th anniversary of Coach Joe Paterno"...

  • Commemoration of the 50th anniversary of Coach Joe Paterno - Activities during the game will take place to commemorate Joe Paterno's first game as the head football coach at Penn State -- September 17, 1966.

http://www.gopsusports.com/sports/m-footbl/spec-rel/m-footbl-promotions…;

An enabler of child rape is still being put on a pedestal and worshipped...it's disturbing. PSU people don't get it or just don't care.

The time has passed for punishment, but every time PSU goes on the road. wherever they go, the team hosting them needs to have a drive to raise funds for child abuse prevention.  I'm pretty sure the home team  would collect more than the $22k PSU raised during a game in 2011 (seriously $22k in a stadium that holds more than 100k people). Fuck PSU.

People forget that...

innocent and not guilty are two different things. There is no doubt that he did it, but between Garcetti playing politics with the setting of the trial, keystone cops, and overconfident prosecutors that got ambushed by the race card and didn't know how to counter it they botched the case. It was a triple case of incompetence. To make matters worse, they had a judge that was in way over his head.

I'm amazed that Cochran was able to play the race card so well with a black client that abandoned the black community. I mean he hung out with powerful, wealthy white people, left his black wife and hooked up with a white woman before the divorce was finished. I'm also amazed that Clark passed on two witnesses because one sold their story to Hard Copy and the other one was just ignored. They were Jill Shively and Skip Junis.
