I think it’s likely that M’s…

I think it’s likely that M’s NIL program is set up to support the spirit of the rule. Players, who have some degree of success on the field, can profit off of their notoriety and likeness by advertising for companies that are attempting to achieve a positive ROI—“we think additional traffic/sales/attention from advertising with Dax Hill will justify paying him 50k to appear in our add.” This is how advertising works, it’s how NIL works with Olympians, and it’s how the NCAA rule was intended.

A&M is using NIL as a way to have boosters/business pay players (who have limited notoriety or recognition) with no intention of a positive ROI—“let’s give Nolan 100k so he’ll go to A&M, and then we’ll stick his picture in a nursing home brochure to cover our ass.”

My bet is the latter never even occurred to our AD.

... and maybe even more…

... and maybe even more importantly, almost never losing yardage. Which was also quote the feat given the state of the O-line.

A lot of people are…

A lot of people are characterizing the concern as being about the passing offense (or in your case the lack of QB development), but for me the bigger concern is about what this sort of gameplan/playcalling says about the coaching staff. My assertion, at least DURING the game, was that "modern football" is all about making your opponent make a choice, and then using scheme to make that choice incorrect. I told my seat-mates something to the effect of, "yeah we're running the ball great, but by not passing you're making it harder than it needs to be"; "if we'd just throw a bit, it'd open things up for the run even more."; etc.

In reading subsequent analysis (UFR+), I'm realizing that maybe... just maybe... the reason we weren't passing much is that Washington was making the wrong choice all on their own. We didn't need to force a wrong choice, because WA was consistently doing that without our help. And that despite all evidence pointing to how wrong their choices were, they were doing nothing to amend those choices. This is weird behavior for a defense, which is why the game felt so weird to many of us (during the initial live viewing)--I don't have the brain to dissect defenses live, so my heuristic brain erroneously assumed the Washington defense was acting rationally and changing behavior in order to stop the thing that was working repeatedly. My heuristic brain was wrong.

Does this mean that we're in the clear, and our passing offense will be able to do the things we need it to? Certainly not. Should I reserve judgement until the point that passing is required to force a defense into making the wrong choice? Probably should. Yeah. Thanks MGOAnalysis.

mostly just posting so I can see how long I’ve had an account on mobile.

You nailed it. I think you can make a reasonable argument that James is a better player than Jordan, but that he has actually hurt his legacy by being a fairly shitty GM—with his overpaid, over the hill, win-now rosters negatively impacting his number of championships.

Kenpom: Michigan -1

Hail Kenpom.

Hail the three ball.

Hail this team--who continues to be some of the most fun I've ever had watching BBall.

When I first got rid of cable

When I first got rid of cable sports were the BIG issue, but I have since found a great work around. A good over the air antenna can pick up all of your local channels (this little guy is an absolute champ), but it was a pain having to go to BW3s any time there was a game I wanted to watch on ESPN. Since I found out about the watch ESPN app on Xbox 360 (and I assume Xbox one), however, I have been able to watch all of those games in broadcast quality. They allow you to view out of market games for free, but with someones cable password you can set it up to view all ESPN assets live--from sportscenter to the MensBB national championship game.

Now the only thing I can't stream in HD is Big Ten Network, TNT, and TBS (for NBA). Don't miss cable a bit!

Hello: Tacopants?
Like for real, this kid is Tacopants.
Watching his highlight video is kind of hysterical; he is a foot taller than everyone else on the field.

You mean Calipari; the guy

You mean Calipari; the guy who is struggling to even make the tourney this year. We've got a good young team, but don't kid yoursel f into thinking we have anywhere near the talent of last years Kentucky team.

In their defense, they

In their defense, they absolutely reported it as rumor.

But at the same time, if being posted on the internet is all it takes to be reported, CNN/Nova really need to check out Jose Canseco's gravitational theories; or timecube for that matter.

Ground breaking science rumor!

You can actually play on the

You can actually play on the iPad, its not optimized for it, but that is what I play on.

You sir are the exact reason

You sir are the exact reason we needed to start an LLC: Protect ourselves from those pesky murderous neighbor lawsuits.

So, as the part of the team

So, as the part of the team responsible for the art, user interface design, interaction design etc. I honestly can't answer that question. When we made the decision to require an email there was a reason for it--I think it primarily had to do with migrating accoutns and lost passwords--but I'm not 100% certain.

At the same time I can promise you that there is zero nefarious intent. We won't be slamming you with spam, nor selling your email, etc... we're zombies, not monsters.

That would require us to blow

That would require us to blow up a lot of the gameplay, but it is really a pretty intriguing idea.

In areas where there is no

In areas where there is no one playing the game will "spoof" stuff for you to shoot at. The idea is that once the map is populated, and there are enough people playing, that will stop.

So as mentioned this is a two

So as mentioned this is a two man operation with no advertising budget, funding, and a very moderate internet presence. This is also a US only release, at least for now.

On day one we had something like 380, day two we had 400 more, and already on day three (today) we have cleared 1100 total players. We are relatively happy with this, but have no idea what reasonable numbers are as Apple doesn't release download statistics publically.

We are worried about these numbers stalling, however, without any sort of bump from Apple. "Hot Apps", "new apps", etc. As it seems like these are the springboards to the top download list, which allows for an app to get a positive feedback loop going: more eyes on it, means more downloads, means climbing higher up the charts, means more eyes on it...etc.

Honestly, there is no

Honestly, there is no "better" race to be. I personally switch between the two pretty freely depending on what I want to do. If I want to clear out some of the riff-raff, I play the hunter. But if I want to try to establish control of the location I am at I will try to build up a bunch of zombies and then protect them with horde (this is a huge part of the game).

Another tactic is to try and better protect a location by dropping and arming hunters, around a location you want to control. Basically giving yourself some back up against any zombies that might open the app in the area.

I again will stress how much

I again will stress how much more fun it is if you can get a few co-workers playing with you. I made the game and I very quickly tire of playing alone.

At first I liked that gif,

At first I liked that gif, but then I realized I have no idea if the Rock is even wearing pants. There is just no way to tell....eww gross.

By either going to their

By either going to their location and using "infect", or buying the skill called "command" which let you send a stack of 25 zombies a short distance in order to kill a hunter.

We didn't want to make that too easy though. It's not as if a zombie can take out a gun and shoot a hunter halfway across town.

So as a Browns fan, myself, I

So as a Browns fan, myself, I can certainly sympathize. We actually debated whether it should be a zombie game or just a giant .gif of Weeden throwing interceptions.

We decided that no one wanted to see that, so we went with the zombie game instead.

THe hunter can use his ranged

THe hunter can use his ranged weapons to pick off zombies at a distance (slot 2 & 3), but the zombie is a little more limited. In order to kill a hunter you either need to use "infect" on a zombie at your current location, or use the more advanced skill "command" to kill a distant hunter. Although zombies can create other zombies at distant locations with rat and retch.

In a lot of way the game sets up to have zombies build the world, by dropping lots of zombies. And hunters keep the zombie growth in check, by destroying what other zombies have created.

You are correct, there is

You are correct, there is only a liimited amount of stuff that you can do from a single location. In that way the game sets up better to be played in short sessions, rather than long extended play sessions.

I know I show up at a restaurant, drop a few zombies and put the phone away again until I go to my next location.

It plays cyclically: when you

It plays cyclically: when you die as a hunter you become a zombie. When you die as a zombie you become a hunter.

There are also 2 skills (spoiled meat and cure) which basically allow you to kill yourself in order to play the other side.

If it does even moderately

If it does even moderately well, an Android version is on tap. Cool thing there is both platforms will be playing together on the same map.

At least you can make them

At least you can make them wear funny hats!? Funny hats make everything better, right?

I thought that was the point

I thought that was the point of off-season OT. I'm not sure what kind of sports related content you expected when you clicked on "OT: Zombie Block Party!"

Again, if Mods feel this is inappropriate content/too much self promotion, please delete. This game has just consumed much of my free time over the last few years, and people seemed responsive in the favorite apps thread a few days ago, so I thought I would post an update.

Blame Rich Rod. Or at least

Blame Rich Rod. Or at least that's what I hear.

Blockhams reference, so don't kill me for bringing it up. It's a joke. I love Rich Rod. Er, that's not entirely true, but I don't hate the man.

How have I not managed to see

How have I not managed to see this before. It's perfect. Cronenberg + Kelly = Asplode?

Im with Busey

Anyone remember "I'm with Busey" on comedy central? A short lived gem, and I mean that in the truest sense of the word.

I'm not even going to try and embed, but here is a clip from the show of Gary Busey as a relationship counselor/woman: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1tN_4JsNnkc

Zombie Block Party

Alright so don't kill me for posting an iPhone app, nor for my bit of self promotion:

The app that has been opened the most times on my phone in the last year has clearly been Zombie Block Party. The reason, is b/c it has been a project a friend and I have been working on over the course of the last two years. ZBP is a GPS based multiplayer strategy game that is played on a google map. Every real-world address is a location that zombie and hunter players can fight for control of.

It releases in like two weeks for iPhone, which we could not be more excited about. No Android version yet b/c I am trying to finish a PhD and my partner has a full-time job. I'm sure I will update the board when it actually releases, but for now if it sounds interesting give us a "like" on facebook. https://www.facebook.com/ZombieBlockParty

I'm touched. I really am. But

I'm touched. I really am. But I can tell when someone is blowing smoke up my ass. Particularly when you have 120 times the MGoPoints that I do.

But I'll play... MGrowOld is most certainly one of my favorite posters. You're wife has landed you conversations with both Mattison and Hoke. Doesn't get any better than that.

This topic actually made me

This topic actually made me realize how much I hate myself. The fact that no one has listed me as their favorite poster yet, has really caused me to question whether I have any value at all. MGoBlog, I need MGoHelp, I am in great need of reassurance and MGoSelfEsteem.

I deeply regret opening this page.

Thank you good sir. I know

Thank you good sir. I know the board would suggest I just google it, but with my safe search off I didn't feel like rolling the dice.

Who was the original prison

Who was the original prison abs? Was it Marvin Robinson?

I have also heard a lot of

I have also heard a lot of this Schofield to guard talk on the MGoBlog. But i can't say that I have heard it anywhere else. Do we have a reason to think this will be a thing, or is it just a lot of hopeful speculation.

Don't get me wrong, it would be great if Braden is good enough to unseat Schofield, but I'm just not entirely certain its going to happen. Although that would give us a pretty mean left side--*cough*cough* Derrick Green *Cough*Cough*

Didn't you hear: during Urb's

Didn't you hear: during Urb's time at ESPN, not only did they let him commentate, but they let him run their recruiting services as well. But I assure you, everything is above board at ESPN--the world's only organizatin that has never even heard of a conflict of interest.
