Yes, it is a grand thing. I am sure as the leaves pop and the Temps warm up, my enthusiasm unknown to mankind will be diverted outside and have to do with all things regarding yard work. "SIGH" it has been a grand Harbaugh winter.
I own an excavating company and drive a Silverado. I am out meeting customers quite frequently and have always been myself. I not only have been successsful at getting the work, I have also made many friends through the years, just by being real.
Being new on the site and in the learning stages of all things recruiting, what exactly takes place at these "satellite" camps. Also, what are they like 2 weeks long? I get the principle that they are closer to recruits and more likely to draw elite players. Are they worked like an NFL combine or taught what it takes to be a Michigan player?
Most of the contenders have snatched up the best available dmen. I know the Phaneuf rumors are flying, but what about the Canton boy, Wisnieski from Columbus. Gotta be hell for a Michigan guy playing there.
The Wings needed a little more veteran leadership, especially in the playoffs. They lacked that real good young and older mix last year. Plus Cole can still play at a pretty high level , like 18 goals on a non playoff team.
Recently read on a hockey site Phaneuf isn't a true #1d-man. He is overrated because of the team he is on. As you said too many minutes taking it's toll.
I believe the wider age difference between coaches and recruits greatly influences who will come to Michigan. I think of Woody Hayes in his late years and Bear Bryant. Great coaches but as they aged I feel they were more out of touch with players . They relied on their younger coaches to keep the line of communications open. These recruits want a father figure to play for not a grandfather figure. Any legitimate means to keep that gap closer is beneficial. Be it social media, younger coaches, and of course an entusiasm unknown to mankind. I may be sucking a lemon here but I have always felt this way about older coaching staffs.
Agreed RobM, thought there would be more replays from the early days, especially with John Belushi. More skits and less of the other stuff would have been great. As it turned out it was way too long.
I remember when SNL first started and we would have huge parties every Sat. night to watch it. We did this for years. Those were great times and great parties. Will be tuning in tonight for sure.
It seems to me that the true potential of these recruits lies in the hands of their college coaches. Look what Hoke couldnt do with highly regarded recruits and what Harbaugh did with lower ranked reruits. Talent seems to be in the eye of the beholder.
I hate the guy or gal who sits within earshot and talks the entire game about everything not pertinent to the game itself. Usually business types talking about the job.
Michigan has plenty of returning starters and it isn't like they are starting from scratch. There is alot of talent on the team, it just needs some Harbaugh influence.
I have read through this and other posts on this matter. It seems almost everyone sees a problem, but the solutions are quite varied. I have seen it suggested a disclosure clause for coaches, limit social media some way , possibly monitor the interactions of coaches and recruits, and possibly allow recruits to hire professional guidance. Not sure what the answer is but it seems it all comes down to the integrity of the coach. The best way to gauge that is the coaches past history and if he handles recruits with trust and respect. Of course that can change in a heartbeat with a lucrative job offer. Is there really any solution to this? Are these kids just fodder for some of these coaches career advancements?

I could go for an A&W root beer slurpee
Wisniewski traded to Anaheim, guess he just wanted to play in warmer weather.
At 38 years old , he isnt going to be around long. Looks like some young Wings defensemen will be toiling at Grand Rapids a bit longer.
After lurking here and there and watching this blog I joined because of the overall unity here for all things involving Michigan athletics
I actually asked a spartie/charger fan last season if he knew who John Hadl was and he had no clue. What ignorance we find among us.

I noticed the whistle too. Totally cool. That makes it official, he is the coach at UM

Is there still a scholarship available for him when he commits to Blue?
Sounds like some sort of infiltration by a sparty or buckeye.
Well said, sir
Please, please don't do this to me!! I let it go already.
Wouldnt a LOI release with a ban on going to Michigan totally show the world why they really recruited Weber, and further give them another black eye.
I like the thought of legal consel for these young men to help protect themselves. The problem being, costs would be too prohibitive for most of them.
