I thought the funniest way…

I thought the funniest way this could end would be with Brian saving his job by dropping 60 points on Nebraska in the last game (like those random outbursts against OSU and Illinois in 17-18). But now, doing that after he's already been fired would make it even funnier.

What are the rules about…

What are the rules about blocking in the back? The hold that got called on the second drive looked clean, but it seemed like every other big run someone was in position to tackle until a rutgers lineman hits them in the middle of the numbers on their back.

Meh. Even disregarding the…

Meh. Even disregarding the talent advantage, I think Michigan plays too responsibly to be threatened by this offense. Bryant's defense comes out looking real bad in those clips (their DEs diving inside and abandoning the edge, their safeties running into each other), and I don't think Michigan will have any more problem with UNLV's offense than they did against the military academies or Maryland in the past.

I am curious if we'll see more 4-3 with VIPER Barrett in this game. Again the talent mismatch means Michigan will probably just play their base defense, but if the 4-3 is part of their playbook at all it seems like this team would be a good opportunity to play it.

Oh I see. For some reason I thought he went back to Gilman. Mostly I was confused why the poster assumed everyone knew who Sam Poggi was and that his presence would influence this recruiting decision

Sam Poggi

Is this Henry Poggi's older brother? And besides being related to Henry and Biff Poggi, does he have Michigan connections?

Level 2

`Sources say the entire Rutgers case has been given an initial Level II designation by the NCAA enforcement staff in its four-level violation structure.

Level 2 violations -- which are considered less serious than Level 1 -- are defined by the NCAA as "violations that provide or are intended to provide more than a minimal but less than a substantial or extensive recruiting, competitive or other advantage...`

My reading of this: It would be a Level 1 violation if Rutgers had actually won more games as a result.

Not disagreeing about

Not disagreeing about O'Korn's play, just the playcalling. The conservative play probably had at least as much to do with the weather as with O'Korn.

doesn't trust O'Korn to really run the offense*

Hurst, Mone, Winovich, Gary.

Hurst, Mone, Winovich, Gary. If Mone and Hurst don't go to the NFL we'll have a fine starting lineup but need guys like Onwenu, Lawrence Marshall, Mbem-Bosse to step into backup roles.

Which B1G teams are on the rise?

Penn State and Nebraska are teams you expect to improve? No one wanted to pick Rutgers' new dynasty?

Not a football expert, but it

Not a football expert, but it sounds to me like it would put more responsibility on the LB and lead to lots of open throws in the flat or RB's getting to the safety when the LB can't react in time. Also, you lose flexibility in blitz schemes.

Haven't we told a few

Haven't we told a few players(Vic Viramontes and Zach Gentry stick out to me), that they could compete at the position they like, with a possibility to switch if it doesn't work out?

A better analogy

How is this hire different from Muschamp last year?

Head coach of a Power 5 team, with a good defense and terrible offense becomes DC for big name program. If I remember, people mostly thought that would be good for Auburn, and Muschamp did well enough to get a head coaching gig again.

So it's actually only because  he's from Michigan that we think we know enough about Hoke to say he'll struggle with the in-game responsibilities of a coordinator.

He did, about a third of the

He did, about a third of the way through the season. He was a not good backup at UTSA before that.

Nationally, you're looking at

Nationally, you're looking at about 44 spots * 5 Power conferences--220 spots.  Compared to ~600 players at top 150 in their class (assume the same number of redshirts and 5th years), and yes it looks like the expectation for these players is too high.  But if you're assuming year over year improvement, you expect maybe half of the conference honors to go to RS JRs or SRs; so 110 spots, against 150 players.  That's close enough to be a reasonable classification.
