Hopefully Iceland’s local commentator, Gummi, was there to call the game in native tongue. His ability to seamlessly throw in witty digs at the other team/country while in a state of uncontrollable, batshit-crazy exuberance, is quite impressive. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube-nocookie.com/embed/RI8RyhCl2c4?rel=0" frameborder="0" allow="autoplay; encrypted-media" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Michigan faithful, and there
Yeah, especially since the Yeah, especially since the refs kinda fucked over UMBC at the end. K-State got away with what should’ve been a couple off. fouls during the final 2ish minutes, one being absurdly obvious. And they ended up scoring on both those possessions (IIRC), instead of UMBC going to the FT line.
Aaand released just today is Aaand released just today is a publication for what’s apparently “the largest investigation of associations of dog ownership with human health reported to date” — Dog ownership and the risk of cardiovascular disease and death – a nationwide cohort study, Scientific Reports (2017). [ https://www.nature.com/articles/s41598-017-16118-6 ], which states...

“One mechanism by which dog ownership could reduce CVD risk and mortality is by alleviating psychosocial stress factors, such as social isolation, depression and loneliness - all reportedly lower in dog owners 3,4,5,34. These factors have been linked to increased risk of coronary heart disease, cardiovascular death and all-cause mortality 35,36. Dog ownership has also been associated with elevated parasympathetic and diminished sympathetic nervous system activity 37, lower reactivity to stress, and faster recovery of blood pressure following stressful activity 38.”
Nordin After hitting those FGs from 50 & 55(!) yards, Quinn Nordin is one guy to be particularly excited about, IMHO. Having a kicker with that kind of range should be a heck of an asset in situations where it's 4th down, yet stuck in that awkward area roughly 25-40 yards from the goal line. Although the chart here uses NFL data, you can kinda get a sense of likely outcomes based on math and shit.

Yeah, DFW is a relatively Yeah, DFW is a relatively undesirable location for a neutral-site game. Ideally you'd want a place where plenty of lodging and nightlife is very close, if not walking distance, to the stadium. Nashville would've been great for this reason, but even more so because it's virtually equidistant from Ann Arbor and Gainesville.

This reminds me of a story This reminds me of a story from several years ago about an implausibly strong kid who could do an iron cross when just 5 months old. Eventually he was figured out to have an extremely rare genetic anomaly which lessens the effect of a molecule that normally restrains muscle growth. His case may even help lead to effective treatments for muscular dystrophy, sarcopenia, etc.

Fortunately for him, the condition isn't known to have any detrimental complications and he gets to enjoy athletically dominating his peers. Fortunately for us (maybe), this kid and his family live near Grand Rapids and are die-hard Michigan fans.

The fact that 4/5 of those The fact that 4/5 of those guys are still on active rosters is pretty damn good. They might not be "killing it," but THJ and Stauskas are both averaging 10-11 pts off the bench, Nik shooting 45% on 3PAs. GRIII recently cracked the Pacers' starting lineup, and Caris is still getting healthy.

Expecting to have players drafted every year and that they'll all be stars in NBA is pie in the sky for fans of basically any college team, even the rent-a-recruit ones.
Rich Uncle Delanybags just Rich Uncle Delanybags just couldn't pass up that Park Place property

This report is a poignant and This report is a poignant and disconcerting reminder of another despicable occurrence from about a year ago in Idaho. Despite the unfathomable level of racism and cruelty, I don't recall it garnering a lot of media coverage, possibly d/t so much attention on the Baylor transgressions.

Blood of virgins might have Blood of virgins might have potential, no joke. Just as long as it isn't from a 50-year-old virgin.

There has been ongoing research at Stanford and also Harvard that has demonstrated age-reversing effects of parabiosis. That is, surgically connecting blood vessels between young and old rats. After a while aged musculoskeletal and even neuronal tissues become significantly rejuvenated.

Might be possible for virgin youngblood to drastically quicken the healing of ligamentous injuries as well.

Undergraduate ResearchI don't Undergraduate Research

I don't know how easy it is to get involved in research at Northwestern, but Michigan definitely has a lot to offer (i.e. UROP), while opportunities are probably very limited at ND. Either way, working in research (for credit or pay) can be really good experience for undergrads, especially if studying a life science. It's also a nice resumé builder and they might even get their name published.

Just something to consider and, if need be, a factor you could emphasize as being a very big deal and thus major drawback of ND should she actually like South Bend.
Yeah, this is a bit too loud Yeah, this is a bit too loud for my tastes as well. Damn whippersnappers.
Regarding public education, Regarding public education, it won't be very long until even the K-12 level is dramatically changed by new technologies. The added simulation/immersive effect of this kind of stuff should, eventually, bring the learning capacity of kids to a whole new level. So we're probably gonna seem unprecedentedly dumb in comparison to later generations.

OTOH, you can paradoxically OTOH, you can paradoxically theorize that the large nuclear arsenals of industrialized nations prevent mass warfare through a sort of Nash equilibrium. Except there needs to be an absolute foolproof means of tracing the origin of nuclear debris such as if Kim Jong-Cheeks equipped a rogue militant group who then detonated one, there'd only exist Korea since the word south would no longer be needed.

Yeah....I bought a Michigan Yeah....I bought a Michigan Football hoodie, but didn't bother to wash it first since it was supposedly "brand new." Ended up giving me a fucking scabies infection.

Also, I'm like 95% sure it was shipped from NJ. So probably some Rutgers fan trying to use his dirtiness as a biological weapon in the imaginative war they've declared against Michigan.

The notion that there's a big The notion that there's a big difference between football and track speed is ridiculously misguided, at least when comparing NFL combine results with the time it takes a sprinter to hit 40 yards in a 100m dash.

And that's simply due to the fact that there's no starting gun or whistle used in the combine; players take off on their own accord. However, in an Olympic race, the reaction time for a sprinter to simply initiate movement off the block can add another 0.2ish seconds.

 photo usain-bolt1-1024x436 1_zpscgt5evt7.jpg

Taking this into account, Usain Bolt probably runs at least a 4.25 at the NFL combine. You've also got the time it takes the timer guy to begin the timing. So all things considered, it's not inconceivable Bolt could push 4.1s
Whether or not symptoms Whether or not symptoms developed, CTE pathology has definitely been found amongst people at very young ages who incurred head injuries playing football. And that includes teenagers. ( https://www.bu.edu/cte/our-research/case-studies/18-year-old/ )

Also, the overall frequency of concussions in gymnastics is piddling compared to football.

Impassioned Advice -For those Impassioned Advice -

For those in which the thought of going to the gym 3-4 days/wk, running all the time, etc. doesn't conjure a shred of enthusiasm...consider taking up an activity that may well be far more thrilling.

Mountain biking, rock climbing, surfing, kiteboarding, rafting, kayaking, skiing, snowboarding - things of this nature could actually make exercising enjoyable rather than excruciating and/or burdensome.

While not time-conducive, per se, people tend to do this stuff for longer stretches on a given day; i.e.5-6 hours of downhill skiing (small hills + used-to-be landfills excluded) can easily burn off 1500-2000 kcal.

Or just pick up a dozen boxes of that Ally stuff from Walgreens if not concerned over occasional leakage of yellow, nasty-smelling, liquidity poo
That's very true and That's very true and underscores the importance of a good QB/OL relationship. Obviously if they're close buddies it helps the QB be less prone to shaking in his boots when he drops back.

Probably a reason NFL teams were dissuaded by the douchiness of Connor Cook.
You definitely answered part You definitely answered part of your question. Simply from a financial POV, it's very costly to incarcerate someone and subsequently limit their employment prospects (less income tax collected).

Also, weed doesn't directly damage or change the brain like heroin or crack could (although it might affect the developing brain during younger ages). If anything, neuronal changes would be more akin to those of many random, learned behaviors/habits.

Hence, if persistently using pot leads to someone getting counseling, it's most likely a coping response and indicator of one or more underlying issues.

In actuality, weed probably does more benefit than harm (for many, not all people). It can help reduce chronic, low-grade inflammation which can be damaging in many ways. Not to mention protective of neuronal degeneration; research has even been published suggesting it mitigates Alzheimer's pathology to some extent.
Except the rule isn't simple, Except the rule isn't simple, at least not for players who might be dealing with chronic pain, yet are also worried about opioid/painkiller dependency. Even worse is the dilemma faced by those with a family history suggestive of an inherent predisposition for addiction.
To be fair, some games are To be fair, some games are actually the polar opposite of mindless. Playing Tetris, for example, can induce the growth of neurons, improve cognition, and literally make your brain thicker. Could also help delay Alzheimer's.....which is pretty much a ticking time bomb with the potential for ugly/widespread epidemiological and emotional and economic implications.

But the Pokemon would not be included
Harbaugh probably seems

Harbaugh probably seems wildly insane to people because it's hard to comprehend his competitive drive or rationalize things like smearing a player's blood on his face.
