This isn't necessarily true, IMO. Such a lucrative contract would help dampen the backlash Harbaugh may receive for taking the Michigan job, since the popular opinion seems to be that moving from the NFL to college is a downgrade. The big compensation would also be an indictment of Harbaugh as one of the top coaches in football, college or pro.

What's always been most shocking to me is how even the Browns were inept enough to draft Spergon Wynn with Brady still available. That guy was a wildly mediocre QB at an obscure D1-AA school.
|1 day 23 hours ago||Harbaugh must at least||
Harbaugh must at least realize there likely won't be another opportunity in which the timing works out this well to take the reigns at Michigan. So it seems like a pretty logical decision would be to come back to Ann Arbor for the foreseeable future, while bearing in mind that the NFL will always be there. That way he can be the guy to get Michigan Football back on track, potentially win a NC at the college level, and if after 7-8 years or so he still can't resist the thought of winning a SuperBowl, maybe give the NFL another shot.

This likely won't happen simply because it doesn't need to. At a high level of football, in which frequent turnover amongst coaches is the norm, it probably goes without saying that Harbaugh would not feel the need to get Hoke's blessing to take the job, nor would Brady expect to be asked for it.

I wonder if this is an injury that occurred within the last few days or if it had flared up a while ago. If Denard were trying to play through it the last couple weeks, maybe the talking heads calling his three consecutive big performances a fluke would shut the hell up.

Are there even enough fans of American Football in England to support a franchise there? Since the NFL started playing a game in London each year, I was never sure if the people in attendance were primarily local residents or fans traveling from the US. Regardless, it just seems too far away.

Crazy how he's able to appear so cheerful/upbeat, despite being in pain and likely having football related concerns. But at the same time, sadly, I wouldn't be shocked if some asshole photographer were being all like 'hey Cam smile for a picture!'

On the front page of the NFL section, ESPN is featuring an article by 'NFL Insider' Mike Sando (not sure I've even heard of him) titled "A dozen NFL coaches at risk." Basically he tries to place odds on guys getting fired along with some other gobbledygook.

Welp, you might be able to give Nik the upper hand in your Stauskas/Harris comparison, for now. He just had his best game thus far with 15 pts and 8 boards.

GRIII has definitely played this season, albeit sparingly. On Saturday against the Spurs, he logged 7 points, 1 REB, and 1 STL in 12 minutes (not sure whether or not much of that was garbage time, though).

Still, at a time like this, the guy that owns the plane could have one hell of a time joking around with Michigan fans. Or even if, say, this particular alum flew out to Aspen to go skiing, I can totally imagine someone taking notice and within 15 minutes the internets and blogs and twitters would be blowing up about Bob Stitt being Michigan's next coach. Wouldn't even matter if Colorado School of Mines is like 200 miles from Aspen.

There might be a slight component of pride that comes with a potential pay raise like this. Making more money than just about all the other people in the world that have the same profession would probably cause anyone's ego to swell a bit.

Yeah, it seemed like a bit of a reach in the first place to even consider him for an NFL job. OTOH, guys like Jim Harbaugh and Bill O'Brien were reasonable candidates. Common sense alone should have been enough to cross Schiano off the list, though.

Obviously Brady Hoke didn't have the coaching acumen to win at Michigan, but his (apparent) success with recruiting should be huge for us moving forward. With a pretty much stocked cupboard of soon-to-be upperclassmen and promising younger guys, Hoke will have left behind a solid foundation for a new staff to build upon. For this, I think Brady deserves a lot of credit, as it should substantially mitigate the growing pains of bringing in a new staff.

The NOLA experience was fantastic, no doubt. I had just graduated a couple years prior and it turned out to be a huge reunion with lots of friends down there. And just being able to see tons of familiar faces around Bourbon Street was, to me at least, pretty special. The atmosphere reminded me of senior year, at the point when everybody had stopped caring about school and would be out and around the bars 3-5 nights a week.

In a USA Today piece from a few days ago, they reference Kosta Karageorge's sister about the treatment he received. The article states, according to her, that "after each concussion he followed trainers' instructions and received proper care but 'his repercussions from (concussions) have been long-term or delayed.'" Then there's the issued statement by a team doctor in which he said "we

(not sure why I wrote all this, but whatev)
This is all just my highly uninformed speculation, so there's a good chance I'm wrong in every which way. However, assuming a Super Bowl win is far and away Jim's top goal at the NFL level, it seems pretty likely that he would want to go to a place where he feels he can be competitive sooner rather than later.
With the Raiders and Jets both in need of at least a few rebuilding years, it's difficult to imagine Harbaugh truly finding either of those teams attractive. The Giants also have plenty of holes, especially on defense, and Eli Manning probably isn't the type of QB that would mesh well with JH. The Falcons or Bears seem a bit more plausible, but it doesn't seem to be a foregone conclusion just yet that either Smith or Trestman will be let go.
That said, if the right opportunity doesn't present itself, I could envision Harbaugh coming to Michigan, but potentially making his way back to the NFL later on. Maybe he'd take over for 3-5 or however many years, during which time he waits for the best case scenario to unfold with the NFL and jump back to the pros. Obviously this sounds kinda shitty, but if JH came in, got Michigan back on track, then left the program in a position for continued success and in good hands like he did with Stanford, that might be an okay bargain. Regardless, everything would probably have to transpire just right if a situation like this were to be slightly feasible.
Of course, there's always the possibility that if Harbaugh came back to the college level, he may find he enjoys it too much to want to leave. Or perhaps, against all odds, Jim has a revelation in which it becomes his intent to go nowhere but his alma mater, right the ship, stay in AA for 20+ years, essentially become Bo 2.0, and have a statue of him built right next to his former coach outside Schembechler Hall.
tl;dr - me trying to conceptualize a very hypothetical scenario where Harbaugh doesn't find any pro teams appealing. Thus he takes Michigan job, maybe only until nice NFL gig opens up, or maybe for long term if decides college is most enjoyable.

Eh, the article from Schefter doesn't, by any means, imply that Harbaugh's a lock to stay in NFL. It just says that the 49ers might look to trade him and that other teams, specifically the Raiders and Jets, would be very interested in hiring him.

I sincerely hope you continue to get better and can eventually make this a thing of the past. Counseling is undoubtedly a necessary part of the recovery process, especially for the many in which medications have no benefit. Something like 1/3 or more people with depression are actually treatment-resistant.
Fortunately, though, there are promising, alternative therapies becoming available. And Michigan seems to be one of the medical centers at the forefront of implementing them ( http://www.depressiontoolkit.org/treatmentoptions/neuromodulation/ ).
