Originally verbaled to Bama (Mack Brown guest-starred as a recruiter). He then tried to walk on at A&M but ultimately became a star at TMU.

The #18 player (5*) according to Scout has a dream offer and it's Michigan.
Lorenz interviewed him (I think PREMIUM). Very interesting.

Since when is making money a bad thing in general?
Bama produces more first rounders than any other team. First rounders make money. It's OK to want to make money as a professional.

Why would LSU agree to play in Houston? Simple. Recruiting.

I'd probably rank JJ Watt #4.

I thought last week was a set up episode. And the more you have set up episodes consecutively, the more you realize neither were supposed to be set up episodes. It's like the final season of Lost when I began convincing myself that there were 6 set up episodes in a row because I didn't want to convince myself that I didn't like the episodes. I'm just saying, this one episode wasn't great. The Jesse for dinner scene was great (albeit perhaps a bit overacted). I hope we get the suspense back next week.

Did anyone else think it was the weakest episode of the season?

What is wrong with accepting transfers from another B1G school? Some people suggest this is somehow sketchy.
We try to pry away B1G commitments all the time. But once they join a school, it's considered "ungentlemanly" to accept a transfer? Are you in favor of the Gentleman's Agreement that nobody subscribes to?
I get it. The 5 or 6 IL coaches at Penn State gave them a bad rep. But let's just be objective for a moment and not go down the road of saying "every other coach is dirty but ours." Beckman is starting at a new program and trying to build up the talent. I don't think he's done anything wrong.
I'm not suggesting this particular thread is hitting Beckman too hard. But just in general.

I think Ross Douglas is planning to enroll in January too. Assuming there's room..

Eric Crouch won a heisman. Frazier was probably the best. I know those Oklahoma teams of the 80s had some great running QBs.
|2 years 14 weeks ago||Its possible||
This is possible, but it also becomes a fine line. So if a recruiting service says "we need to re-evaulate a player" there is already a bias towards improving his stock in my mind. So then this becomes semantics (is re-ranking based on other site or "re-evaluation").
And again, its merely a hedge. Rivals still has Green much higher. But Scout is at least making Green a top player now.
I actually think that ESPN uses the most independence in its rankings. For better or worse.
|2 years 14 weeks ago||Hedge and etc.||
I get the feeling that alot of the re-rankings are to hedge against other recruiting services having a guy really high or low.
For instance, from all reports, I don't think Derrick Green stood out at the Opening. Not that he was bad, but that he wasn't creating much buzz. But Rivals has him as the #1 RB now. So Scout moves him up around 80 spots. Same issue with Taco where all the other services had him as a 4* except Scout.
On the Taco front, people have been hitting Farrell about his assessment and how Rivals had him dropping whereas Scout (and others) had him on the rise. Well, Scout originally had him as the #29 player in Ohio and a 3* whereas Rivals had him ranked as a top 250 player. So you have to consider where he was originally ranked before judging how to evaluate his stock rising/falling.
And of course, none of the recruiting services for a particular school want to tell their fan base that a commitment performed poorly at a camp. You're rarely going to hear it straight up. So it's hard to get an objective evaluation about how these kids perform.

It makes no sense.
A) Pepper would have walked on
B) You care about longsnapper rankings? Do they really matter?
C) The difference between the #2 and #6 LS (different classes of course) means....better squat?
|2 years 19 weeks ago||5 star||
5 star prospect on that site means he is a Division 1 prospect. So....yeah....ok.
|2 years 19 weeks ago||This...||
This can't be right.
|2 years 19 weeks ago||Rankings||
Who else is tired of debating about a 5 or 10 or 15 spot move in the rankings? Means nothing.
|2 years 22 weeks ago||Above the Law||
Has been discussing the futility of law school for a while now; especially when you don't go to a top 20 school. That's the only thing they're really concerned with. So there is a definite slant to the piece. I wouldn't take it as a fully objective analysis.
Let's also state the obvious: Andrew Sweat was going to be cut in August at some point. This is not like Andrew Luck choosing Law School over the NFL.
|2 years 23 weeks ago||Agreed||
I don't dispute what you're saying.
As we all know, recruiting is a guessing game, otherwise luke kuechly wouldn't have gone to BC most likely.
My frustertation is directed at the source of those who claim that "Michigan fans are overeacting." The truth is, a recruitniks' job is for fans to "overreact" to recruiting. That's their job. So when they then tell fans to "settle down" when we miss out on a player, they are trying to appear above the very chaos that they themselves created. And it happens all the time.
