I agree too and tbh Brian is the driving force of this. I respect that bronxblue wanted to not throw shade at him but his voice is influential and there are a lot of people parroting his opinion.

If the stats have no…

If the stats have no predictive value then by the same logic how does your random pondering?

If you get no joy from…

If you get no joy from being 4-0, why are you even a fan?

Honestly all the BPONErs, including Brian, need to write out an answer to this question. I know he would have a good one, but a lot of the people who just clone his opinion every week would have nothing to say at all.

Unfortunately, as Brian told…

Unfortunately, as Brian told us himself in the season preview essay, he is not capable of writing rationally about Michigan right now. I totally get it, he's got a lot of sad stuff going on in his life apparently. But he should really reflect on how useful it is bring all that stuff to us in the form of game columns. Because they are really more about his own psychological state than the actual facts of how the season has gone.

Totally agree. There's one…

Totally agree. There's one in my friend group and it's impossible to have rational conversations about the games with him. I love Brian and how much he has done for the fanbase but it's unfortunate that so many people have adopted his nihilistic outlook on football.

Love you Brian. Thanks for…

Love you Brian. Thanks for the update and all the amazing writing over the years, and I'm sure still to come, even if less frequently.

Hear, hear. Although I don't

Hear, hear. Although I don't see why the argument can't be about both those things at once. The lack of representation of college players in the decision-making process you described is exactly the reason why they do not receive fair compensation. It's a direct relationship.

When did believing in fair

When did believing in fair compensation for one's labor turn into "hating college sports?" If college sports is synonymous with the interests of athletic directors and college presidents, then I suppose. I tend to think college sports is about the players, and to a lesser extent, the fans. If you say I hate college sports because I reject the worker's comp avoidance scheme more commonly referred to as the concept of "student-athlete" (http://bit.ly/qsU3pP) then I guess I hate college sports too.

I would rather emphasize the love of college sports, and the people who play them, that has been with me since before I can actually remember watching them. The love of Wheatley, and Woodson, and Denard, that has led me to conclude that they have the same right to fair compensation for their hard work as any other student, or human, for that matter.

Both of these franchises

Both of these franchises release a worse game every year, it's uncanny. NCAA has never even come close to 06 on the PS2, and ESPN 2k5 is still the best football game ever made. It's pretty pathetic.

Stick to FIFA, NHL, and NBA 2k for quality sports gaming.

It's true that he's not the

It's true that he's not the same he used to be but he can still get it done when he's motivated. This column is an example of that. He was always at his best writing about the emotion of fans, particularly when their team loses. The parts about his daughter and her first gut-punch loss were quite moving and easy to relate to.

Did you actually read the column or just come to complain about Simmons? It's not like that's a particularly original thing to do in its own right. Finally, I don't think he ever claimed to represent the "working class underdog fan" but rather "the fan." You can still be a fan even if you're rich.

You don't follow enough bloggers/writers. I've seen big east, SEC, Notre Dame, random national guys, etc, remark on how it looks like its going back to Big 2. Pretty much every Big Ten recruiting round up states it

Bears?

Aside from slightly changing the stripes a bit, the Bears uniforms have looked the same since the 50s.

because no one is

because no one is interviewing them. They still do it. I see it on twitter, for instance.

Like who? Boise? K-State?

Like who? Boise? K-State? Baylor? Those teams don't deserve it any more than we do.

Plus, there is no concept of deserve in BCS bowl selection.

Guessing

I know that Ricky Rubio was drafted by Minnesota in 2009 but stayed and played for Barcelona for two more seasons and only this year is he coming over to play for the Wolves. I'm guessing you draft his rights for 3-4 years or so, and then they relapse maybe?

Yeah that's why there's so many top 10 B1G teams right?

His teammates all supported him. He got pulled, not asked to come out. The offense went better after he left, he was injured.

To be fair

He retracted upon learning the reason why. So he's just ignorant.

I wasn't going to say anything but

You've spelled "whither" wrong two times in one day now. It's whither.

Rule of thumb

If you're going to make fun of someone's grammar or spelling you should make sure there are no errors in your own post.

What zone left said, actually.

We're in first now because we win the 3-way tiebreaker w MSU and Nebraska. If we win out, we'll have beaten Nebraska and knocked them out, and thus would lose the head-to-head tiebreaker w MSU, unless they also lose another game.

Don't see the need for the

Don't see the need for the current pics to be taken on a 1972 polaroid. Seriously, what's with the grainyness of those shots? Crisler looks like **** enough as it is, don't need to make it worse.

Interesting timing

If this post has nothing to do with the Lions/Schwartz making an idiot of himself.

Writing a two-part longform

Writing a two-part longform essay published on a major website is an odd way of keeping quiet.

Not gonna read the whole thread

But follow him on twitter @MGoShoe

Yea that's right, the north

Yea that's right, the north end zone at Ryan Field doesn't have seating.

They have a stadium, almost

LA is about to finalize a huge new stadium program that people out there are very excited about. It's hard to understand how it hasn't worked yet but if Buffalo, Nashville, Seattle, etc can support a football team LA should certainly be able to. I just hope the Vikings aren't the one to leave because I like the NFC North the way it is.

I don't understand

the concept of this column. Shouldn't it be called "Misopogon Museday?" Every single post on the blog is about Michigan already.

Did you miss the 4 or 5 jump

Did you miss the 4 or 5 jump balls he threw up for grabs? Those are underthrows.

I'm just gonna quote

I'm just gonna quote theyellowdart above:

"Sorry, but implying that one of the key Reasons for the decline in Notre Dame football being 'They're letting black people play now.' is racist."

Using a fact to form a racist implication does not make said implication less racist.

Fair point

But I just like it to be clearly marked. It bugs me when people assume that everyone here cares about Detroit teams.

Please mark OT

This is not a Detroit sports blog

Cowherd

does not make rational points. You must have missed where he said that John Wall will never be an NBA superstar because he didn't have a father growing up. That is pretty typical of the level of logic used in his arguments.

It's not bulletin board

It's not bulletin board fodder, it's an actual fact, as in, Michigan literally went down there in 1887 and taught Notre Dame students how to play American football.

That's all well and good, but what really matters is

I think Hoke has changed the tide on the rivalry. Hell people in Ohio are starting to believe him. Never in a million years I would have thought that. Selling Michigan jerseys is a good start.

I can't stop laughing

And it's all because I think Hoke has changed the tide on the rivalry. Hell people in Ohio are starting to believe him. Never in a million years I would have thought that. Selling Michigan jerseys is a good start.

Spread v pro-style

Without differentiating between types of offenses I don't see how this data is helpful. There are spread passing (Texas Tech of yore) and spread running (WVU/Mich under RR) types of teams. We probably ran the ball more last year than we will this year, does that mean we're moving to less manball?

Apparently Rosenberg has a lot to do w Michigan Athletics since you bring him up in 5 posts a day.

Suspension

He has to sit out the entire season. In what sense of the word is that not a suspension?

Plus it's actually only $1 mil, he has to get 90 catches and make the Pro bowl to get the 3.5 mil. Pathetic contract.

Am I the only one who doesn't like calling OSU "Ohio?" It's hilarious that Hoke does it, but as fans I think it's kinda silly. To each his own I guess.

I'm thinking of making my own playbook as well, but one other play that works well is QB draw from the shotgun-normal formation

I don't think you can use the other guys gamertag; it doesn't matter what the filename is. The roster is downloaded from the gamertag you enter, so if we enter that gamertag won't we just be downloading his roster, the same one you downloaded? Not at home so I haven't checked it out yet
