- I wonder what the government's plan is if there are no takers?
- I wonder what the government's recourse is if the buyer fails to live up to the maintenance stipulation of the sale? Repossession and resale?

From the article: So much was expected of receiver Freddy Canteen last fall, especially after he had spent the previous spring talking about what an impact he would make.
You based your "cocky dbag" evaluation on that?

The attendance record is simply proxy for the heath of the Michigan program.
That's why 2014 was so painful ... it indicated the unhealthy state of things.
If we retake the attendance record in 2015 it'll be a sign of a return to better health.
Whether championships follow is to be seen. But returning to essential health is a necessary first step.

Sans Moon, but with Entwistle
This song is Entwistle's masterpiece. Astonishing bass playing.

townshend = genius
And Entwistle / Moon = greatest rock rhythm section of all time.
(I give serious props to Bonham / Jones of Zeppelin, but to me Entwistle/Moon is on another cosmic level.)

Barbara Eden might still be TV's all time greatest goddess.
Definitely agree, though I have some others from that era that are on my list:
(Dawn Wells ... "Mary Ann" from "Gilligan's Island.)
(Carolyn Jones ... "Morticia Addams" from "Addams Family")

At the begining you can hear footsteps on a wood floor. That's Townshend stepping out the 6/8 time. Story is Moon was struggling with that song's time requirement -- his drug and alcohol problems catching up with him -- so Pete improvised by walking out the rhythm on his cottage's wood floor.

But Wikipedia is full of lies ... so that page on misconceptions is a series of misconceptions.
It reminds me of the Star Trek "I, Mudd" episode:
Captain Kirk: Everything Harry tells you is a lie. Remember that. Everything Harry tells you is a lie.
Harcourt Fenton Mudd: Now listen to this carefully, Norman. I am... lying.
Norman: You say you are lying, but if everything you say is a lie, then you are telling the truth, but you cannot tell the truth because everything you say is a lie, but you lie... You tell the truth but you cannot for you lie... illogical! Illogical! Please explain! You are human. Only humans can explain their behavior! Please explain!

|1 week 4 days ago||Traffic Lights||
Because I first came across this page when I authored a Wiki article on my mother-in-law's tiny little town in West Virginia. The article I wrote was really short. I casually mentioned the town has no stoplight.
Someone later edited the page and made "stoplight" a link to this page on traffic lights.
And there I was astonished to see page after page of information on traffic lights. In my wildest dreams I never would have imagined so much could have been written about the topic. But there it is.
The Interwebs ... a place of wonder and marvel.
|1 week 4 days ago||Editor?||
Are you in the list of people who have edited that page over time?
Serious question. I've authored a few Wiki pages, and edited a few. With your knowledge of football, I'd think you would be able to contribute a fair amount to Wikipedia.

Except for the helmet. That's the X-factor in the uniform. We can carry off a generic vibe in the jersey and pants because of the helmet.
There's a reason it's considered the most iconic helmet in college football. Because it is.

To my dying day I will wish Forcier had his head screwed on straight at Michigan.
He showed promise on the field, and could have been very good.
Except ... you know ... he didn't have his head screwed on straight.
|2 weeks 13 hours ago||"Ownership"||
All I "own" is the priviledge of paying for the lighthouse's repairs and the cost of keeping the lights on?
Yeah, pretty much.
Two things come to my mind:
I guess for those that really love lighthouses, this is something they'd persue.
I can see a non-profit doing this and then renting out the lighthouse for overnight stays ... again, the sentimental notion of being a lighthouse keeper for a night.

Yeah ... I'd guess that was an early fall game, and there was a lot of different colors. Back then I'd wear whatever was convenient. People had Michigan apparel back then, but nothing like today.

As a Michigan transplant now living in southern Arizona, that picture is a beautiful reminder of those wonderful Michigan winter days -- dark, gray, snow-covered, and utterly silent. I love it.

I award him no points, and may God have mercy on his soul.
When I read that what flashed into my memory is the scene from Pride and Prejudice where Lady Catherine de Bourgh dismissed Elizabeth Bennet: "I take no leave of you, Miss Bennet. I send no compliments to your mother. You deserve no such attention. I am most seriously displeased." :-)
FWIW, I saw Nordin's video as pretentious nonsense, but harmless enough.

Agree. And I think Iowa > MSU.
It's not that MSU uniforms are awful ... I just find Iowa's better.
I wonder how much team success influenced vote? I'd bet more than a little bit. Back when MSU wasn't that good, I doubt their uniform would have been voted as highly.

|2 weeks 4 days ago||Bridge||
The memory trigger that pops for me goes way back to the early 1970's and a column in the daily paper about the card game bridge. Apparently, Omar was a world-class bridge player. The column was called "Bridge with Omar," or something like that. I have memories of graphics showing various clubs and spades and whatnot, and me not understanding a word of it. I'd then move on to the comics.

Here's the StubHub map for that Oregon State game:
Section 44 is right next to section 1, which is 50 yard line.
Section 25 is across the stadium, but a section further away from 50.
Based on that, Section 44 -- any seats -- will get you closer to 50 than any seat in 25 closest to 50. Section 44 if your objective is "closest to 50."
I think I'd opt for section 25 only because the seats a bit further up where I could get a better perspective on things. But that's just me ... I like to be up a bit. Binoculars can bring me closer to the action if I want that.

|2 weeks 5 days ago||1st down production ...||
Hmmm ... prediction vs. wish.
What I wish for (beyond the obvious "wins" answer) is better yards on first down. It seems like the last two years we'd get a yard or two at best on first down, and then we'd be facing 2nd-and-long and then 3rd-and-5 or 6 ... every time. More consistent 2nd-and-short, please.
Predictions -- fewer interceptions thrown by our QBs; a few more INTs by our secondary; and Michigan's D-Line putting up some serious run defense numbers.
