I should have been more precise in my wording: head coaching opportunities for black coaches are few and far between, but I hardly need to do that since the point should be obvious anyhow. If you take the total number of head coaching positions that have been open and available over the last two decades, just to pick a date range, and then total the number of African Americans who have been hired, the only possible conclusion you can draw is that the number of opportunities are rare. It's especially remarkable given the huge percentage of players in the top two divisions who are black.
15 hours 21 min ago	Can't imagine a tougher coaching job in the country than EMU	from a recruiting standpoint. Permanently in the shadows of Michigan, with many off-campus/commuting students, a campus that's going to impress nobody in a town with a lot of rough edges, all on top of a football tradition that saw its last real success before any of today's HS kids were alive. I know that head coaching positions for African American coaches are few and far between, but I still wonder if RE would have been wiser to pass this opportunity up and instead work as an assistant at a major program or the NFL.

It might be premature to consider Peppers a lock for Michigan, but if he chose Rutgers over of all his top suitors it would be the recruiting upset of the century. I'd be more concerned about Alabama or LSU or Stanford making a late push, but they'd have to get a visit out of him first.

I've got deep Missouri roots on both sides of my family, with a large number of relatives still in the St. Louis area. The Northwood Apts out on North Campus are a great deal; when we first got hitched we had a three-bedroom townhouse in Northwood V with a full basement. Tons of little screaming kids around, but that might be better than tons of drunk screaming sophomores pissing on your porch.

However, I would say that if the choice is between Appy St. or a MAC snacky-cake, there's probably more interest on the part of UM ticket-holders for Appy St. simply for the revenge factor. No one gives a damn about getting revenge on Toledo. This is what you get when you schedule teams you have no business playing in the first place. I'm generally more favorably inclined to Bill Martin's tenure than many UM fans, but that decision was inexcusable.

A portion of every fanbase is subhuman; we just hope/assume that our subhuman portion is smaller than other schools. It's still there, though, lurking.
