Wisconsin and LSU are playing down in Texas and they're not wearing clowniforms- just their normal unis. How can they recruit like that? After all, the kids love the uniformz.

This isn't really correct. As others have already said below, Sam's "gut feelings" are very different from just his normal optimism. The only "gut feeling" that I can recall that went the other way was Sean Parker. I've listened to Sam since he first came on WTKA, and in every instance after a "gut feeling" recruit did commit to Michigan, it's turned out that the commit essentially told Sam beforehand that he was going to come to Michigan, and the whole "gut feeling" thing is just Sam's way of communicating this without coming right out and pre-empting the kid's own announcement.
Webb never had a "gut feeling" about Hand, and I don't believe he ever had one about McDowell, either. His reluctance to issue one was confirmed by events. Obviously we're all hoping that Sam's gut is accurate this time as well.

between Carter, Howard, Woodson, or Denard, to pick just the most obvious examples, is like being asked which of your children do you love the most. I love 'em all.
|2 days 18 hours ago||looks like he is really showing love to NC State on twitter.||
If this is accurate, then it's not a good sign. It's common for fans to disregard what recruits are tweeting; it was a constant refrain during Damien Harris's saga that what he was saying or showing on twitter was irrelevant, but it appears as though it was an indication of his frame of mind.
I think Sam might have pulled the trigger on the gut feeling prematurely on Roseboro. Which will suck.
|3 days 5 hours ago||should be reserved for people who either coached or played||
That's not the reason behind my preference. Bob Ufer and Frank Beckmann didn't coach or play the game, and they were great announcers. There are players and ex-coaches who I can't stand to listen to.
It's the particular character—the pitch, the tenor, the sound, the delivery—of a female voice announcing a football game that doesn't do it for me, at least none of those I've heard. Perhaps it's just that I haven't heard the right one yet. I have no problem with female announcers for other sports, such as Olympic competitions, figure skating, or pro biking, for example, since for me those sports don't demand the kind of ridiculous bombast that I instinctively associate with football.
Women should have every opportunity in broadcast journalism, including sports play-by-play. That doesn't mean that everybody will enjoy listening to them.

It's a fair point you're making. My answer to your question is no, but it's not easy formulating a reason why one is acceptable and the other is not.
|3 days 6 hours ago||Now that there's no three-second delay in the local radio feed||
there's no reason not to listen to Dan and Brandy on WTKA while the game is on the tube.
I admit this is pure unadulterated sexism, but I really can't stand listening to female football announcers. It just seems wrong to my ears.
*Edit: a look at the other thread about this implies the delay will still be in place for listeners not in the stadium. Dang.

FWIW, Sam Webb has been saying for a number of weeks now that Roseboro doesn't move or look like he's carrying 283, and that he's quick enough for DE, which is supposedly how UM is looking at him.

Webb issued one of his famous "gut feelings" about Roseboro a couple of weeks ago, but he did mention yesterday morning the rumors about NC State. He didn't change his prediction, but it was clear that it wasn't as confident as his original gut feeling.
It's my understanding that Sam's gut feelings are essentially the result of a recruit making it clear privately to him that he's going to choose Michigan. The problem is that kids can and do change their minds as the decision day gets closer. I'm always a little bit skeptical when it comes to kids from the South, but Webb's "gut feelings" have been very reliable. While there were plenty of people who were confidently predicting Hand would end up here, Webb never came close to a gut feeling for Hand, and during the last 2-3 weeks of the recruiting process for him he was saying that Alabama was going to be the choice if Hand's decision was determined by pure football reasons.

They were commenting on how their bodies were having problems as they grew older.
The Sparty says, "I haven't taken a good leak in years...it burns, no steady stream. It sucks."
The Domer says, "I know what you're saying...I haven't had a good shit in over a year. Nothing is more satisfying nowadays, wish I could take a good shit just once."
The Buckeye chimes in... "I don't have any of those problems. Every morning at 7am, I have a nice piss... steady stream, no problems. And then every morning at 7:30, I take a good shit, no problems."
The Sparty and the Domer blurt out at the same time, "Well, you MUST have at least one problem to deal with...?"
The Buckeye says, "Yeah dang it, I do. I just wish I could wake up before 8am."

It's mainly because my suspicion is that if you have sixteen captains, you really don't have any, and that college football is a sport in which having strong designated leaders is a good thing.
Is this something I'm going to be harping on? Nope.
