I was flabbergasted to hear (here) that the stupid noodle was actually going to be a permanent fixture for the entirety of that season, until the pushback forced Brandon to get rid of it.
It's especially galling because I e-mailed him about the noodle and I got a smug response from DB assuring me that the noodle wouldn't be there, that this was a one-time promotional thing only, etc. He even told me that I shouldn't believe everything that I read, which makes no sense because I never claimed that the noodle was going to be permanent, just that I was opposed to advertising inside the Big House.
So not only was he a smug jerk to me for no reason, but the whole premise of his response was a lie! Unbelievable.

I think the error was corrected (wrong RB vs. App St).

The team voted. But it does show how much of an impact Harbaugh has had on them.

for Michigan and Harbaugh and a new season and especially for the excellent standard of writing here on this MGoBlog of ours.
|5 days 44 min ago||It's more annoying to the media than to fans||
Although actually maybe NOT having a depth chart makes for a more interesting story.
|5 days 21 hours ago||Depends on what constitutes a violation||
If I'm caught in my dorm room twice with one beer and I'm not drunk, I do not have a drinking problem.
This happened to me at Mojo. Edit: OK so I was a sophomore at the time. Big difference, I was just as dumb.
|6 days 23 hours ago||Most of us find it not too hard to believe||
I mean, this is the guy who wrote snarky e-mails to alumni the morning before the season opener. Who hired planes to write "GO BLUE" over Michigan State's campus. Who left Brady Hoke out to dry after the Shane Morris incident. Who wanted to move the Game to October.
What makes you think that he is someone who makes good decisions about anything that has to do with Michigan Football?
|1 week 26 min ago||The big difference is the number of games played||
Brandon's scheme had teams being relegated after THREE GAMES. That's idiotic.
Brian's scheme involved relegation after nine games, and he prefaced the whole idea as being a "completely insane" solution to a "basically insane" situation.
|1 week 22 hours ago||Right||
but isn't there less of a dropoff between the first and second team defense than there is between the first and second team offense? It's difficult to quantify, but that's my sense.
|1 week 22 hours ago||Right but Harbaugh||
The quality of Shane's coaching has increased one hundred fold. The kid has had three offensive coordinators in three years. Not that his accuracy issues come from that, but a stable coaching situation and having one of the best QB coaches in the sport can't hurt. I think there is some room for guarded optimism. The good thing is that there's lots of competition now so if Shane doesn't pan out it won't kill the team for a season or two.

"In the elite athlete, hamstring injuries cause prolonged absence from competition and have a high recurrence rate.9"

|1 week 1 day ago||My impression is that Harbaugh knows exactly what people mean||
but he pointedly professes not to understand. Given that we know (maybe) that Harbaugh does not like Brandon I wonder whether this is Harbaugh trying to make a point about the previous regime in the AD's office.

not to get involved in serious discussions with people who are not serious. It's good advice, which I don't follow as often as I should.
And my father would have advised Brian not to engage in a serious discussion with Brandon. Why? Because Brandon, at least in Brian's view and in many of ours, was not a serious interlocutor at the best of times (I got one of his bizarro e-mails that was clearly not written by a serious person in command of his senses) and certainly wouldn't have been if he were just talking to Brian to gain something (which is the only reason he would talk to Brian in the first place).
|1 week 5 days ago||I just listened to the podcast...||
and I like the idea of playing WRs at CB to get them to learn what it's like to play opposite your position. It makes good sense. I'm not as concerned about CB as most, but I am concerned about WR and it seems like Canteen has an opportunity this year.
|1 week 5 days ago||Not worth its own thread, but: Canteen at CB?||
|2 weeks 20 hours ago||All models are wrong||
You can't come up with a methodology that accounts for Harbaugh. Ed's model is flawed but so are all models. If his model weren't flawed then we wouldn't need to play the games and it wouldn't be a prediction, just a statement of fact.

They don't have a simple past tense! It's stupid. This is why, among other things, ancient Greek is manifestly a superior language.
But actually English has TWO future active indicative tenses (not counting the future perfect), the simple and the progressive (or continuous), as in "I will defend" and "I will be defending." Latin compresses those into one: tuebor stands for both a simple future and a progressive future.
|2 weeks 5 days ago||Sort of not really||
exeo meaning "leave, depart" is intransitive (it takes no direct object).
The transitive meaning (in poetry and post-Augustan prose only) means "to go beyond, surpass" or "avoid". So it could only mean "they go beyond/surpass/avoid Dennis Norfleet".
Here's the Lewis and Short entry: http://www.perseus.tufts.edu/hopper/morph?l=exeo&la=latin#lexicon
