Start hammering us?

We are 2-11 vs Ohio State in the past 13 years and 1-5 vs MSU the past 6 and expected to lose to both again this year. I think it's already started.

Not desperation just smart roster building

from a smart head coach. Beilein didn't originally anticipate this staff would start churning kids out to the league after 2 years. He doesn't want to get caught with a bare roster again. And as much as we all get caught up in the recruiting hype because we see the instant impact it has in bball, it is unrealistic to think that we are going to real in a 5 man class full of studs. Most of the elite kids aren't recruitable because one way or another they are getting something we won't offer. There will still be plenty of scholarships available but not we also have a good base of kids who should be here to fill out the roster, like spike, and possibly overlooked kids who can really blossom under this staff, like Caris. Who by the way was a May committ.

I love the in denial Michigan fan

I know in response I'll just get called a clost sparty because that's how the world of tough internet guys works but the idea that the only reason they are a force on defense is because they cheat is beyond ridiculous. Coaches areamongst the most competitive people in the world. If MSU's schemes and defenders weren't elite and it was just clutching and grabbing every other school would be doing this. It's like the people that try to say Beilein and company aren't elite and we just jack 3s, Give credit to coaches who are elite at what they do. It's embarrassing to try to make excuses instead of tipping your hat.

Show me the seniors on the o-line that can play

like the seniors on the d-line did in 2011 and I'll believe

I would agree if

they hadn't weakened the starting rotation while also not upgrading the bullpen. Good news is the division is embarrassingly awful and the tigers have elite talent so they will easily win it and from there the playoffs are a crapshoot and they have verlander and scherzer to potentially ride to a ring. But they need to add some bullpen pieces and sign stephen drew after the summer draft or find a ss elsehwere for the whole defense/baserunning upgrade to really show from last season in my opinion.

I think players should be able to benefit

but it becomes tricky because if players can take money from boosters then recruiting becomes even messier than it already is. Sign here and we guarantee a booster will buy your autographed picture fo x dollars

One unlucky 1 seed is going to get OK State on their 8/9 line

Hope it's not us

It's my fault

I've been stocking that for good memories a lot recently. Watched sweet 16 Kansas game last night. I appreciate it man.

I thought it was common knowledge every team in the country

That's the equivalent of saying you can't play prevent defense

in football when the other team has the ball at midfield with time for one play left because it isn't how you would normally defend a play. Interesting idea but I don't agree.

No fake punt fear in the special teams section?

I mean we gave one up to them last year in the 4th quarter when that was pretty much the only way they could come back and score

Mods on rivals

posted that they told campbell they were full at wr after not knowing who he was which amused him and the only interest they had in scott is at db

They weren't there for Campbell

Still seems weird you wouldn't know about a recruit that talented but it's not like they suddenly forgot why they were there. They wanted to see if Cole was solid or if there was still a chance.

It says 141

For the MSU game. But that can't be right either because there can't be 39 days in between the opener and MSU. It has to be a multiple of 7

1999

Good early win over ND 26-22, tough win on the road over Wisconsin, terrific comeback down 10 at Penn St in the 4th, Brady to Quise with about 5 minutes left to beat OSU, OT win over Bama for our only BCS win, not bad...

I don't think

anyone is on the hokey pokey bandwagon here except in a "screw you we aren't going to sink to the level of the freep and other quasi michigan fans who actively tried to get RR fired" sort of way

we all want michigan to win big, this seems like a win medium move but whatever we'll see how it goes

Ha

I made the same mistake because i didn't trust rodgers staying in if he got hit again. Even better i ALSO had freeman on my bench as an option and went kitna.

Don't Forget

Harbaugh

He's Not

Going to be back. Not my personal feelings it just makes no sense for DB not to announce he is coming back while all the speculation builds and recruits jump ship. And if DB is too dumb to realize that then we have a whole new set of problems.

I'm Not

Rooting one way or another since at this point i am confused and can rattle off a lot off good reasons to keep RR and a lot of good reasons to bring in Harbaugh. But isn't it pretty obvious that DB wants Harbaugh? It doesn't make any sense not to say RR is staying if he wants him to stay. Either he wants Harbaugh but doesn't know if he can get him or he knows Harbaugh is coming but they didn't want to blow things up before Stanford's first big bowl in over a decade.

National Championships

Can we please stop using national titles as the criteria by which to determine whether you are rooting for a change or want RR to stay. We won a title in 97. That was our first in 50 years. We are not a powerhouse program that rolls of national titles left and right and we never have been. We need a coach who can consistently compete for big ten titles Whoever that is is who we need whether you think that is RR or Harbaugh but to say you don't want Harbaugh because that will condemn us to going 9-3 and 10-2 all the time but never 12-0 is just stupid. I don't know if you have been under a rock the last 3 years but i would kill for 9-3 right about now.

I don't think

RR doesn't emphasize the game or understand its importance. I just think he is fully aware of how outmatched we are and that it would have a negative impact on the kids and the program to go into these games shouting off about hating OSU and having to win this game and then get blasted.

Caputo

Is a moron. Everything he has said in the past 5-10 years I remember ever accidentally hearing him speak is stupid. I am amazed he can monkey a keyboard well enough to cobble together columns that would be embarrassing for an 8th grader to turn in. I don't think Tressell is concerned about coaching a specific way to beat us and make sure RR doesn't get fired. It's not like he was struggling before RR took over. Things like that really make me scared to live in a world where people like that are allowed to do anything that would possibly influence people. I don't think I am overstating that.

It's based off current

It's based off current standings and MSU hasn't had its off week yet so they have a half game on OSU and Wisc and Iowa at 5-1 compared to the 4-1 conference records of the other 3

If OSU

beats Iowa then Wisc and OSU will go to the BCS and sparty can enjoy their one breakthrough year landing them in the capital one bowl

Not That Many Choices This Week

The week of THE GAME also features Oregon-Zona and Auburn-Bama

Wow

It would be embarrassing to give an extension to a guy who is 13-19 in 2+ seasons at a school used to competing for conference championships. If you are saying it still leaves the out to fire him after the season then what is the point? A lot of recruits will decommit if he is fired even if the quasi 2 year extension made them feel better right now. And if you believe he can turn it around with help from a whole new d coaching staff then the move is simply to not fire him.

Seriously?

The defense is terrible and RR seems like he may have been a step behind in realizing that and addressing it in recruiting as he focuses on the offense. If Brandon doesn't think RR can  turn the defense around he should fire him. If he does then he should keep him.

But please don't waste time trying to make the argument that RR should have tried to run an offense he is not familiar with, with 2 bad QBS, a terrible O-Line, no WRS and no healthy RBs. That 2008 offense was going to be terrible regardless, and in case you hadn't noticed, Michigan is averaging 35 points a game and 30 in Big Ten Play. Offense is not the problem.

Big Ten

If Iowa beats OSU doesn't MSU get the bid? 3 way tie between iowa, wisc, and msu. None of the three teams beat the other two so iowa gets eliminated by virtue of having the worst overall record because of their nonconference loss to zona which leaves wisconsin and msu and msu won the head to head matchup

Who Is

The other ordinator?

Our Secondary

Can't take a breather against anyone because Never Forget

Neg Me

I am not adding anything knew but just wanted to reiterate and agree with people who posted the ridiculousness of sayinh we have it better than Florida and Texas. 2 titles for florida in the last 5 years and 2 bball titles (we don't have a bball program), 1 title for texas and 10 wins every year except this one and one fun season with durant (again we don't have a bball program)

No

That would just reinforce the BCS supporters' claims that the BCS is great because everyone has the chance to make it. If they wanted to change they would have already changed.

Does Anyone Remember

Nick Sheridan, Injured Steven Threet and Injured Tate Forcier. I would be 100% good if Pryor had committed to Michigan.

Not Indiana

We forced them to embarrass us but lose a close game through the air. That's what I'm talking about baby.

Believe It or Not

George isn't at home please leave a message at the beep.

I must be out or I'd pick up the phone, where could I be?

Believe it or not I'm not home.

You're

Welcome

I'm Not Going To Say

People shouldn't be frustrated for losing. I think what people are underestimating is the pressure having such a bad defense puts on every other play. It is hard going into a game knowing you need 40 to win. That puts a lot of additional pressure on every offensive snap that leads to penalties and turnovers because in all honesty an interception feels similar to a punt so might as well throw it up and give your guy a chance to make a play instead of throwing it away and punting.

I don't advocate giving free passes but until the defense becomes average every single play is going to feel like life or death and lead to mistakes you wouldn't otherwise see.

I am really confused

As to why losses to two top 15 teams has all of a sudden caused so many people to conclude everything is going to hell. Before the season given the youth and inexperience on defense most people were hoping for 7-5. 7-5 teams lose to top 15 teams. Otherwise they would be winning 9 or 10 games.

If they can't beat Ilinois or Purdue please feel free to freak out and immediately ask for a new coach but otherwise why not hold on for the rest of the season and see if returning a starting a loaded offense and probably more importantly experience on the d line and in the secondary can lead to some noticable improvement on the field.

Losing is not fun but unless you think there is a homerun coaching option to turn to it makes much more sense to hang on this year and see if we can start turning the corner next year. I think we are better off firing him a year too late than a year too early. Harbaugh will still be available after next year and i don't even know who else is a viable candidate that would be exciting at all.

I'm way late

And am not adding anything new so neg away but it really kills me when the losing team in any game says the winning team was not better. If that is the case they would not have won. Sure MSU didnt stuff our offense like dopey sparty fans want to believe, but you have to execute to win and we did not execute. Also they stopped trying to score in the 4th when they knew as long as they didn't turn the ball over we couldn't come back so even giving us 18 points we didn't earn still only has us up 1 needing stops the entire 4th quarter which we know our D is not ready for yet.

Haha

I love the poster mentioning that Denard has no chance of playing ahead of Brantley. How's that working out florida?

I am sold

on anything that involves less 3 man rushes, gets roh rushing the passer, and limits ezeh's exposure even though he seems to be the nicest guy in the world

It feels that way

Since this is right now but I would argue the 07 Ohio State game was bigger. Big Ten title on the line.

I love

All the effort everyone has put into researching past teams (not sarcastic) but I think given the fact that last year we all said it couldn't get worse than ND since we would gain experience and ND had a pro qb, 2 pro WRS, and a huge o-line and then it got worse or at least stayed bad i am just taking a wait and see approach and not assuming we are going to see much improvement.

Unless we start rushing 4 more consistently and try tighter coverage umass has already shown that teams can consistently hit 6 yard passes and move the sticks on us. I'm not saying those changes will do anything, I'm sure the reason we drop 3 and rush 8 is the fact that the coaches are terrified of the huge plays that wil be given up otherwise, but at a certain point you have to make the other team hit one or two over the top with increased pressure on the qb as opposed to running the same thing and expecting different results.

Praying for michigan to upset sparty saturday (don't care what the line is msu is a more complete team), then take care of business against ill and pu and have a shot at 1 out of iowa, wisc, and psu, and then get to next year with a stacked offense and hopefully more bodies on defense.

On OSU running up the score

I don't have a problem with Pryor being in the game since it was still the third quarter and even though there was less than 1% chance EMU would come up back you still need to officially put a team away (see Michigan-Ball State 2006)

I also could understand needing style points if both osu and bama go undefeated and boise probably will be as well and possibly even oregon

and i can also understand trying to take pressure off pryor by letting him blow up so the talk can be about his monster game instead of his poor reads and arm punt interceptions in a season where you are expected to go to the title game

but calling a throwback pass to the qb up 25 in a non rival, non bowl game situation is uncalled for. and seems pointless unless the vest threw down a large pre season wager on pryor to win the heisman

haha i love the grammar on
