If what is rumored to have…

If what is rumored to have been said is true, Juwan could have interpreted it as an accusation that he must be cheating as a coach to win because some of his college teammates received money from a booster.  Think about that.  A fellow big ten coach may have publicly and directly accused him of cheating as head coach of Michigan during a live game.  I suspect that's how Juwan processed it given his reaction.

Common Link with Henne-Manningham

I should have know the ball was going to fall in Michigan's favor at the end.

Hockey Band Directors

I can't speak to who started the dancing band director tradition, but I don't think it was Jason Smigell.  After Jamie Nix moved on, there was Dan DeSena, Smigell, DeSena again (the Grover Cleveland of hockey band directors), and then Damon Talley.

I don't know and don't care who was in charge after that point, because the director of bands ruined our fun by ending the dancing tradition.

The Brand Focus is Damaging On Field Performance

Having a leadership team hyper-focused on promoting a brand of what Michigan is supposed to be and monetizing on this brand in any way possible is damaging the on-field result.

Leadership (AD, coach) is unable to recognize it's own blind spots on the field because 1) the money is still flowing in, and 2) they are so focused on the message they want to convey to their 'customers' about what Michigan represents.

The transition from a frustrated to an apathetic fan base will make it more difficult to monetize the brand the UM atheltic leadership is selling, even with a far more exciting home schedule in 2015.  It may take years to recover from this 'lost decade'.

Puck Don't Lie

Didn't deserve the penalty shot.  Didn't get the goal.  Great save!

Oosterban seals the game

AF has 3rd and 15

2min to play...near midfield

Per UM audio..on 42 yd line, but not sure which 42.

2nd and 10

Grrr

Can't believe we're going to sweat this out.

And given the horrible first half 2-minute drill, I am annoyed that we burned that TO.  We may need it.

Thank You!

Desperately needed a defensive stop.  Now finish them!

Norfleet!

Norfleet is going to return at least one kickoff for a TD this year.  Kid is as quick/shifty as advertised!

(d@mn penalties...)

Breathe...

Alabama is basically an NFL team.  Disappointing that it's so ugly so early, but doesn't mean that the defense is returning to the GERG era and 7+ losses are imminent.

That said, hopefully the D-Line will stop getting pushed back 3 yards every play by the end of this game.  Plus...no more injuries please.  k thx.

Bryz was ALWAYS a sieve

Bryz didn't just turn into a sieve, he's always been one.  The Wings feasted on his head scratching breakdowns the last two years.  I can't believe the Flyers put themselves in salary cap hell by signing him.  Say goodbye to all their promising young talent once they become free agents.

My solution

As a former MMB member and current football season ticket holder who donates to both the MMB and the Athletic Department, I am planning to reduce my Victors Club donation in 2012 and increase my donation to the MMB.

If enough other people cut their Athletic Dept donation and sent the difference to the MMB (soon), the band could defray much of the cost of the trip using money originally earmarked for the Athletic Department.

I like irony.

Great Post!

Thanks for posting this.  I make no apologies for my behavior that day, though waiving a $1 bills may have been a little cruel...Definitely one of the best memories from my undergrad years, and my most memorable sports fan experience (tops witnessing a Stanley Cup clinching OT goal).

I was one (of probably many) people who e-mailed the Daily's sports editors the day before the game with a link to the St. Cloud Times article with Molly's infamous quote.  Even though I'm sure the Daily would have found the story anyway, I like to think I deserve a small sliver of credit for the 'Molly incident'. :)
