Go in to buy a mattress, leave with a new car. That's one hell of a salesman.

I'm in a similar boat: yesterday was my last day. Now I've got a week (and change) off before starting my new gig a week from Monday. It's only 10 am out here, and I have to go look at apartments, so coffee is the drink of choice. Later it will be a growler from TBD (whichever brewery catches my attention as I'm running errands today).

Opera is fucking awesome. Current builds of Next are based on the Blink rendering engine in advance of the complete switch-over.
Also, to play up the hipster part: Opera was touting open web standards before they were even standards.

I noted it and considered using it, but ultimately decided to go in a different direction.
|37 weeks 3 days ago||Not a browser issue||
Those are intermittent server issues, likely caused by an error on the hosting provider's end (e.g., mixed up DNS resolution). If you get the Nginx page once and continue getting it, it's because you're using a browser with aggressive caching enabled (especially Chrome, which can be a web developer's nightmare, but also Firefox, Opera, and maybe IE10), so do a hard refresh (F5 or Ctrl + Shift + R) to instruct the browser to skip the cached version.
|37 weeks 4 days ago||Please||
Just stop it. The only one being embarrassed is yourself. Did having Landon Donovan play his prime years in MLS really damage the reputation of US Soccer? Even if it did, did that have any kind of tangible impact? No matter how you slice it, that's an absurd take on this news. The USMNT's best player and one of its best strikers will now play together constantly, and there is no logical argument that that is anything resembling a disaster.
|37 weeks 4 days ago||Man, I was so excited to see that||
I just accepted a new job in Seattle yesterday, so I really look forward to buying Sounders season tickets and getting to watch Clint play all the time. This will also hopefully do wonders for getting Eddie Johnson and him into sync for the World Cup. They could become a really dangerous combination going forward.

Oy, I've been reading A Song of Ice and Fire too much: I read that as "the Hand" and wondered which plot-line you were referring to.

That's pretty basic functionality, actually. You should hop on IRC, which has been around forever, and really be amazed.

Nope. Definitely Wiggins.
|38 weeks 23 hours ago||This is exactly the point||
This is exactly the point that nobody seems to grasp, and it's kind of surprising to see it from readers of this efficiency-obsessed blog. All points are not equal. Brandon Jennings is a good player and an effective scorer if you ignore all statistics that reflect efficiency. Was Brandon Knight going to be a star? No. Will this move make the Pistons a contender? No. I'd stick with the worse roster and wait a year before committing even that much more cash over the next few years.

I looked at it. I enjoyed it. I didn't use caps-lock or sentence fragments. This is a good board topic, and that's the point: the OP will hopefully better understand what is on-topic as football (no OT allowed) season approaches.
|38 weeks 6 days ago||This is correct. Michigan||
This is correct. Michigan players are always Michigan players and therefore always on-topic.
|38 weeks 6 days ago||Dude||
That's not even remotely OT. In fact, it's explicitly on-topic.
|39 weeks 1 day ago||Speaking as a web developer||
Speaking as a web developer (so my opinion comes certified), the Big Ten's site is horrible. I hope they don't actually pay CBS for it.
On the tickets, I might give it a go, but StubHub seems a better bet. Indy isn't a long trip from anywhere in the Midwest, but I doubt that that many people will have the appetite to make the trip one week after the end of the regular season and less than a month before the bowl game.

|40 weeks 1 day ago||Five years and two weeks||
It's kind of bittersweet now, but the period that sticks out for me is the fever pitch surrounding the RichRod hire: weeks of hopelessness as it became clear that Bill Martin didn't have any plan in place (except offering the job to Greg Schiano twice!), followed by the emergence of an impossibly awesome candidate. Suddently, after experiencing Mike DeBord (run left) and the Horror and all-second-half prevent defense, Michigan was going modern and experimental. We were hip. We were contenders for the top dual-threat quarterback ("everyone kills people, murders people, steals from you, steals from me, whatever"). We were joining the 21st century, and it was exciting. Those days of speculation and flight-trackers and unbridled enthusiasm were a thrilling time for Michigan fans tired of the old guard and envious of fans with wizard coaches. For once, we were getting a new shiny thing.

Yup, I know about Buckley's. More than going to a Michigan place, though, it would be cool to actually meet-up with fellow MGoBloggers for games and whatnot. Personally, I get more out of discussing the game than being surrounded by raucous drunks.

|40 weeks 6 days ago||Indeed! I completely agree||
Indeed! I completely agree with your strategy. Plus, relative to the number of spots to fill, there is a lot more scarcity on the lines than at the skill positions, so it makes a lot more sense to focus on them. Rothstein even notes the staggering number of quality quarterbacks, and the same applies to running backs, wide receivers, etc., so I'm surprised nobody really took advantage of that route. Maybe I shouldn't be surprised, though: linemen aren't the sexy picks.

Peyton Siva is an extremely limited defensive specialist with a marginal chance of playing in the NBA on whom the Pistons took a flyer in the second round. He is not a point guard. Comparing the Siva pick with the hypothetical Burke pick is pretty silly.
