The weather looks spectacular.  Hopefully a bike ride today, and one on Monday of about 20 miles.

Mess around with learning guitar.

Smoke a pork shoulder or 4.

I think the wife has us going to a bonfire tonight, I'm gonna try to get out of it, and her sister is coming over tomorrow, obviously while I'm trying to get the pork shoulder going.

I've been driving a Mazda 3…

I've been driving a Mazda 3 the last 15 years (2008 and 2018) in West Michigan.. around 2020, they came out with an AWD model.  I don't own the AWD model, wasn't an option when I purchased it.

Both cars have been great in West Michigan winters, with Blizzaks on them.

I would, assuming your…

I would, assuming your guests are omnivores, no vegetarians for restrictions - do a simple roast beef.  I've been buying sirloin tip roasts from Sam's Club through the pandemic, and they've averaged $4/lb.  You are getting a 9-11 lb hunk of beef.  Salt it heavily, and warp it in plastic wrap, and put it in your fridge for hopefully a full day.  Pull it out, unwrap it, dust off some of the salt, crack some fresh pepper on it, maybe some rosemary, or garlic.  Heat your oven to 325, put a thermometer in the roast, and let it cook until it gets to... 125 for rare.. 130 for medium rare, 135 for medium... Let the beef rest for 20-30 minutes after you pull it from the oven.  Slice it thin, and enjoy.

Sides?  I don't know.  Bake some potatoes while your beef is cooking.  Roast some seasoned broccoli.

Yeah, I think it's time for…

Yeah, I think it's time for the Reed Jr. era to begin in Michigan for hoops.  Heck of game from that young man.

Serena Williams.  Barry…

Serena Williams.  Barry Sanders, Magic Johnson, Gordie Howe.

I don't have many pre…

I don't have many pre concieved notions about people and cars.  I've been suprised too many times in my life.

I drive a 2018 Mazda 3 Hatch.  I first and foremost wanted a car, and a hatch.  I also wanted a manual transmission.  That Venn diagram of what's available was pretty small.  The VW Golf was too small, the Honda Civic wasn't fun enough to drive... so that's why I drive what I drive.

I just knew.  At about 5'7",…

I just knew.  At about 5'7", I didn't have much of a future as a Defensive Tackle.  I was a halfway decent shotputter - I went to a D3 school, and they asked me if I wanted to throw there.  I turned them down, figured the time investment for no scholarship wouldn't be worth it to me.  One of my few regrets in life, but I was pretty dang poor in college, so I needed time to study, and to work.

Great step up, good to see!  Also a Hope Alum, Class of '96.

Wasn't Schefter also the "Oakland is still in play" guy?

I mean, I'm glad if he's coming back, and will probably live out his coaching days here, but there have been so many rumors all around.

Just my opinion--

Best…

Just my opinion--

Best Bourbon for the $$-- Budget pick - Benchmark.  $10-$12 and it's young Buffalo Trace, from what I understand.

Most Underrated - Evan Williams Single Barrel - It's $30, 8 years old, and I like it.

Most Overhyped-- Again, personal taste- but Jefferson's Ocean aged didn't do anything for me.

I also love Sazerac Rye & Breckenridge, when they can be found.

Yup, exactly.  I walked into…

Yup, exactly.  I walked into the season thinking a 9-3 record was a ceiling.  Feels much more like the floor now.

Loss will cause me to wonder why this cannon is in my back yard.

Mike Norvell will probably be out by the end of this year.

I say this as a fan, not an alum.

I'd rather Michigan keep Harbaugh.  You don't know what's behind door #2.  It most likely will be worse than the current coach...  (Hoke, RichRod, Les Miles).

There hasn't been a sniff of NCAA violations.  There is a good to great graduation rate.  I don't want the team I root for to become a "football factory".  80%+ of the young men on the team won't have an NFL career.  Educate them.  Run a clean program.

Nearest Popeye's is about an hour away.  For burgers, Culver's is the best that fast food has to offer, from what I've had.

Best- Probably 2010 Illinois…

Best- Probably 2010 Illinois.  Triple OT.  Score on the first play from scrimmage.

Worst- 2008 Northwestern, at Home.  First trip to the Big House.  Rain, sleet, snow.  One can only get so cold. 12 for 36 passing between Nick Sheridan and noodle-armed Steven Threet

Pretty Spot on, but I think…

Pretty Spot on, but I think the first 2 RichRod years were bigger dumpster fires than 1967, but I wasn't alive to witness the 1967 season.

Good story, sir.  I would like to subscribe to your newsletter.

Look, we all play here, and…

Look, we all play here, and Brian pays for it, I guess we chip in if we donate of by the magazine.  He makes the rules.  WD was a bit much at times, but probably not ban-worthy in my opinion.  I'm not paying to keep the lights on here, so my opinion doesn't matter much.

Move along, nothing to see here.

I've got 2 that haven't been…

I've got 2 that haven't been mentioned yet.  Breckenridge bourbon is quite nice, a little expensive at $45 a bottle.  Outstandingly smooth, almost not enough going on, but very good.

Sazerac Rye, when it can be found, is a bit over $30 for a fifth, and outstanding.

Yes, watched it twice, both…

Yes, watched it twice, both times in Chicago.  First on a bit of a lark, we were going down for another show already, and found tickets on the floor for a bit more than a good football game at Michigan Stadium.  I was blown away.  Took the stepkid for his birthday to Chicago for a Sunday show.  Cast had changed.  Wasn't as great as the first time, but still enjoyed it.  Took the wife through the Hamilton Exhibition in Chicago too, when it was there.  Good, interesting history to learn.  Best show I've ever seen.  I now understand the price of some of the shows. Expensive?  Yes.  Worth it? Yes.

You're not wrong.  Every…

You're not wrong.  Every year, it's been Alabama, Clemson, OSU, Oklahoma, plus or minus one of those teams.

Go back to the bowls, let the Big 10 Champ play the Pac 10 Champ in the Rose bowl and figure it out from there.  Whilst you are at that, you can get off my lawn.  This is turning me into a grumpy old man, well before my time.

One I haven't seen mentioned…

One I haven't seen mentioned.. The Jordan Harbinger Show.  Great interviews, 2 guests per week, and a feedback Friday show.

I'm thankful that Michigan…

I'm thankful that Michigan has coaches that do things the right way.  Win or lose, I don't see scandals coming, and to me, a non-alum, that means everything.  I think I'm a Michigan fan because things have always been done the right way, and it meets my moral compass.

My highlight of 2018... probably starting a new job with a 35% bump in pay.  Non-Financial? My Grand-Niece's 1st Birthday party.

Goal for 2019?  Get more miles on the bike.  It'll be a challenge with the new job, but it has to get done.

I don't disagree with this,…

I don't disagree with this, overall, but people would still complain that Michigan is as good as Georgia, same way people can debate OSU vs OU this year.

Couple of obvious ones…

Couple of obvious ones.. Attack Each Day and the MGoBlog Podcast.

I really like the Jordan Harbinger show. Great personal/professional development stuff there.

Shattered is a good true crime podcast, only 2 seasons though.

I love Snap Judgement as well.

Eh, Looked similar, but…

Eh, Looked similar, but better to that first game of the Harbaugh Era against Utah.  Mistakes were made.  Things to clean up.  Game was within reach late, but too many miscues.  This coaching staff will make improvements and get better from this game.

Michael Keaton.  Batman. …

Michael Keaton.  Batman.  Ray Croc.  Mr. Mom.  Birdman.

Jack Nicholson

Dustin Hoffman.

Kareem

I hate to compare players, because it lessens others.  I think Harbaugh said something to that effect.  They are both great players, but I really think that Kareem gets overlooked as a great player of his era.  LeBron is the best currently.  MJ was the best in his time.  They are both different, and both great.

Kinda like the Tom Brady vs. Joe Montana arguement.

I picked up a full kit a 2

I picked up a full kit a 2 years ago, it 's great.  But the design this year, just not my thing.

For anyone wondering about sizing, just get a tape measure and follow the sizing charts.

Depends on what you like.

Depends on what you like.  Founders is generally solid across the board.  M-43 and Boss Tweed are both great from Old Nation.

Think back to the Fall of 1981

Neither one of my parents went to college.  In fact, I was the first in my family to graduate from college (Hope '96).  We would watch sports on TV, sure, the Lions and Billy Sims on Sunday, Tigers baseball whenever it was on, especially at my grandparents house.

However, back in the fall of 1981, I was in First grade, and one of my good friend, Derek, was a huge Michigan fan.   I still remember to this day, our First Grade teacher was a Notre Dame fan.  Derek was egging her on about the Michigan-Notre Dame game coming up, and the bet was for a dozen cookies.  I wanted in on that action, so I said I was good for cookies as well.  I honestly don't remember if I even watched that game, but on Monday morning, a dozen cookies were sitting on desk.

I've been a fan ever since.  Didn't get to a game until Lloyd's last year, and didn't get to the Big House until RichRod's first year (The Snow/Sleet/Rain game against Northwestern), but am still a fan.

Never get too high, never get

Never get too high, never get too low.  Give yourself 24-48 hours to celebrate a win, or be pissed off about a loss, then move on.

In.

In.

No mention of Peters?  O'Korn

No mention of Peters?  O'Korn looked lost vs. Indiana...

Finally Friday

Short day at work, and a semi-long weekend!

Yes

About the only thing that would cause me to lose my fandom is if similar things happened at Penn State with Sandusky and if they hired someone that did with Hugh Freeze did... I've always appreciated Michigan as a school/team that did things right.  I'll also add the Tressel firing.. the team needs to do things the right way.  That's the way Michigan has always been, and always should be.

I went with white, because I

I went with white, because I remember Harbaugh wanting to bring those back prior to his first game, against Utah.  Give Harbaugh whatever he wants.

The Moth Radio Hour is great

The Moth Radio Hour is great for stories.

I like DecodeDC for a behind the scenes look at Poltics.

Art of Manliness for general stuff, some I already knew, some I was able to learn.

Great Lakes Jersey

Love it.  Hope the sizing is close to accurate.  Ordered the Great Lakes jersey and some bibs

I'm not an expert

But it seems alot like golf.  I've heard that for every guy out on the PGA tour, there are 20 guys with the physical skills to golf that well, but don't have the mental toughness to putt/chip/drive in front of crowds when the pressure is on.  A good friend of mine is a good golfer, but he chokes every time we put a single dollar on closest to the green on a par 3.  It's much more mental than physical.

What I tend to do is park

What I tend to do is park near 7th st and Scio Church road.  I then take Scio Church road out to Zeeb, and then North on Zeeb to 94.  I am heading West though, not sure where you are trying to get back to.

Hmmmm. can't get the MGoStore

Hmmmm. can't get the MGoStore code to work.

There are games already

There are games already scheduled, what, like 10 years out with Texas and/or Oklahoma.  There would also be a need to figure out Home and Home, so that was split.  Or do they re-shuffle the rankings every other year?

Yes, thank you... too many

Yes, thank you... too many Mad Hatters watching football today.
