I loved the little '97…

I loved the little '97 styled internet message board motif they came up with. That was some nice craftsmanship. I think Mgoblog uses version 2 of that software (OOF).

Somebody say my name? Hey I…

Somebody say my name? Hey I got a mention! Thanks B!

I like 4 points. Iowa will attempt only extra points.

Very much a programming n00b…

Very much a programming n00b still but this has been my experience:

C++: Signed up for a traditional for credit class in my younger years. Total disaster, dropped the class a week or two in.

R: Took two classes based in R and focused on data analytics in MBA program (not Michigan) , much better result, was able to do some cool things and pick up most of the concepts, complete the assignments, etc.

Python: On second class in Python for data analytics in a Master of Accounting program (not Michigan). I much much much prefer Python to R in all facets. Syntax easier to pick up, environment (just plain ol Jupyter Notebook) much less clunky, debugging much easier, etc. etc. Perhaps it's easier to pick up because of the R experience? I don't know, I feel I would have picked it up quicker than R even starting out with Python.

I have not used either commercially, only academically. But if I had a real life project I would definitely choose Python. The project would likely be of the data analytics type, so I can't comment on something like designing a smartphone app or video game.

God I love this board sometimes, brings the lulz. Now if I could just figure out the impact of this transfer vis a vis CJ Carr...

First of all Toby, I hate so…

First of all Toby, I hate so much about the things you choose to be.

Second of all, my first game as a student was the Donovan McNabb game. I had to look it up but this game came after a loss to Notre Dame Week 1, which I did not remember. So that was a big time oof.

Third of all, first game as an alum was Iowa in 2002. So in addition to being wistful about no longer being a student, we got torched by Iowa (Iowa!) in the rain.

So thank you Toby for bringing up such painful memories. Toby is in HR, which technically means he works for corporate. So he's really not a part of our family. Also, he's divorced, so he's really not a part of *his* family.

I just hope both teams have…

I just hope both teams have fun.

Why do we suddenly have this…

Why do we suddenly have this fetish for calling fairly standard running plays on 3rd and 6? I get that it's sort of a ha ha surprise and it sometimes works but WTF?

There's an old sports…

There's an old sports announcer saying: "You either die a hero, or you announce long enough to see yourself become the villain."

I believe it was attributed to Howard Cosell's ghost but I'm not sure.

As to the OP's first post being a big winner: Thank you Kanye very cool!

Baseball Prospectus used to…

Baseball Prospectus used to do a feature called "A Fate Worse Than Death", in which a staffer would watch the absolute worst game they could find in a given week and report on it.

I think both the NFL and the B1G delivered this experience back-to-back this week with the Colts-Broncos game and Nebraska-Rutgers. Could there be worse games in either league awaiting us this weekend?

Frank? More like Francis.

Frank? More like Francis.

It wasn't that he came up…

It wasn't that he came up with the jokes. It was the delivery. For example, in the Orji comment he first set the whole thing up by refusing to even utter his name. Then as they were cutting to commercial he couldn't stop himself from saying ITS AN ORJI IN THE ENDZONE, bringing the whole bit to a meaningful climax.

Overtaking Ass

I mean his best work is more…

I mean his best work is more subtle, e.g. premature snapulation.

All the announcing teams are like boring clones of each other. Johnson/Klatt are a cut above, but the rest are interchangeable. RGIII is a ray of inappropriate light in a world of darkness.

That said, I can't see him getting away with this shit all season.

Haters need to lighten up francis.

I have questions:

Is JJ…

I have questions:

Is JJ shitty in practice? Were Cade/JJ really neck and neck through camp? Or did JJ de facto win the job and Cade was allowed his swan song today?

What was the deal with playing JJ at all today? Was he rehearsing his role if Cade were to win the job? Was Harbaugh frustrated with Cade's play and just said "F it"? Will Cade play in the JJ game (Hawaii)? It makes sense to have JJ run certain sets if Cade remains the starter, but not vice versa.

I have hot takes:

Assume JJ torches Hawaii and wins the job. One of JJ's biggest strengths is clearly his legs, however this is a double edged sword. I think he loves contact a little too much on his designed runs and keepers. He's already taken some pretty good shots so far in limited time, and he doesn't have the frame of a Tebow/Prescott/Cam Newton type QB. Getting smushed like that over a full season of starts is our concern dude. Would like to see some runs end out of bounds or with a slide.

We did not look that great in short yardage, and would have looked way worse against a real Big 10 front. None of our backs are anything like Haskins. I would thus like to see the OrjiCat be a thing, as that's likely our best package. I would also like RGIII to announce all our games for the lulz.

There has been much…

There has been much hollering about M adapting to the new CFB landscape, transfers, NIL, etc. It cuts both ways.

I mean, I'm not trying to…

I mean, I'm not trying to stir the shit but don't we need to find a credible backup for JJ when he wins the job and Cade transfers?

There was a poignant moment in the Playoff game where the game was decided and Aidan and Cade were on the sidelines in a serious conversation. I believed that to be Cade discussing his future.

Cade has too much poise and experience to sit on the bench for us, and in limited action JJ has shown himself to enjoy getting smoked on scrambles.

Cade to Miss St. is my prediction.

I think Forrest Lawrenceton should be the new DC.

Based off the angle of his tibia to his femur, he is going to Oakland.

That being said, since he has good extension in his lumbar spine he is staying at Michigan.

Because they bizarrely went…

Because they bizarrely went full hurry up on 4th and 10 and chucked a crappy go/fade route to Dax Hill's guy. Their pop pass to the tight end or one of those screens that roasted us would have gone for 20.

I'll be honest, I like…

I'll be honest, I like Nebraska football. I like that they stuck with the triple option for so long, and I like that they are bringing some of those concepts back in their current offense. I also like how those old concepts still work very well (only not against us, that sucked). I also like how they lost to us last night.

That being said, Frost is a bitch. I did feel bad for Martinez after the fact. There was no way we weren't giving up a TD on that drive if he didn't fumble the ball away.

Thanks for listening to my snowflake riff on Nebraska football. Anyway, here's Wonderwall...

I'll vote #4. I think the…

I'll vote #4. I think the Michigan job is huge, and you really need a CEO type. Someone who can handle the press, AD, Athletic Department, donors, boosters, gliterati, assistants, staffing, recruiting, etc. When you think about the scope of the job, there is likely not much time left for X and O's. That being said, the #4 type should understand how to hire, retain, and develop quality assistants to handle the X's and O's and evaluate their performance.

So who are the best CEO types out there?

Let's not forget that…

Let's not forget that Fickell has done more for our success vs. Ohio State than anyone! He presided over the only loss in the last 16 seasons.

I believe Harbaugh will not…

I believe Harbaugh will not accept a pay cut, lowered buyout, etc. deal. It's a competitiveness thing. You don't accept 4 million after you collected 8 the year before. He will either bolt to the NFL for 2021, or announce an Urban-style "retirement" to put himself in the catbird seat for NFL jobs in 2022. Do some TV stuff or be an analyst for John while he bides his time.
